I think it can look good on certain dragons. It's much more subtle than Crackle for example.

I bought Ceti because I love how his smoke makes it look like his wing color is bleeding onto the rest of him:

Godiva's smoke is more subtle, but it goes well with the plague-witchy look her accent gives her, even if she's not actually a witch herself:
