Having once being located deep within the Viridian Labyrinth, the clan made its move onto Wind territory. The architecture of the Aergate inspired them and their migration in order to grow structurally as a clan.

The First Temple

Ocelotl's old territory in Nature consisted of a huge temple within the jungle. Over time, plants overgrew the structure until the ancient stones became covered in vines and deadly flowers. The nature temple was left in ruins. The clan evacuated due to a culture-changing event, and seeked a new home within the Windswept Plateau. As new generations are born, the clan began to slowly forget what the old temple was like.

Ancient Ocelotl took root in the Shrieking Wilds. The clan's pyramid-temple was well-hidden, and a small village was in the structure's shadow. Food was easy to retrieve, thanks to the plentiful trees. The soil was surprisingly sandy due to many mysterious holes, drying up the dirt. It is rumored that dragon bones could be seen, poking out under the roots of some trees nearby the old territory. Not many dragons remember or fully understand why the temple was built in the first place. Some claim it's the clan's way of saying thanks to the deities, especially the Gladekeeper.

The Reconstruction of the Temple

The second, current temple in Wind, is currently under construction. Alongside stone statues, carvings and monuments of deities and past clan leaders, scattered across the territory to celebrate their ancestors from Nature. Stone is like the clan version of parchment, a record-keeping tool. Runes and markings are scrawled onto rocks, symbolizing events in the clan's history. Only a selective few dragons from Ocelotl can actually write and decipher these runes.

The clan members have many seeds that kept and brought over from Nature, and allowed them to grow Wind's oxygen rich soil. Crops grow with ease, and their farming skills greatly improved. Their agriculture is their number one source of income. They even grew their own forest, mainly consisting of cocoa bean trees, stretching vast across the territory, eliminating any traces of Wind's common bamboo.

The body of water in the center of the Ocelotl's territory is called Lake Kochistli. Nicknamed the Lake of Dreams. Various rivers split up eventually leading into the Singer's Brook. A tiny woodland island surrounded by the streams is used for training guards, warriors and/or hunters. Many dragons fight, with spears or pure strength in friendly competitions. A second, even smaller island is located just below. It doesn't have much of a use, and is hard to access, so its purpose remains a mystery.

KOd0Oro.png _ It's is uncertain whom exactly the founder of the clan was, as Ocelotl was established way back, nearing the start of the Third Age. Yaotzal, the current historian has made speculations about the founder. He claims it all started with a fierce golden fae warrior born directly from the Gladekeeper's branches. Previously, clanless, he loyally fought against the Plaguebringer's children in unnecessary raging battles. After growing weary, he retired from battling, and decided to start a clan of his own.

The fae looked down at his scales. He yearned to find dragons like himself. Dragon with scales the color of marigolds, dragons who shared his ideals of proving themselves to the Gladekeeper. He wandered across Sornieth searching for dragons that met his criteria. A persistent bunch of marigold dragons, agreed with his words and began dedicating their lives to the Gladekeeper. It is noted that the fae often used manipulation as a tactic, whether intentional or not. The dragons grew in numbers, and listened to the fae's every word. He was dubbed the leader. His voice was more powerful than an emperor dragon's raw strength. Hence receiving the title, the role, of the clan's first Emperor. He felt that he was appointed by the Gladekeeper herself, and had the right to rule over the clan he's established.

Unfortunately, Plague's culture left a bit of an influence on him, as he adopted the system of rituals. And they weren't exactly the harmless type. The first Emperor believed that the Nature deity would favor his clan if he offered the hearts and blood of dragons, then burying the remains deep in the Gladekeeper's soil. He figured this extreme gesture would be a way of winning the deity's support, by standing out compared to other clans. They believed that their sacrifices helped to allow the crops to especially flourish in their territory because the Gladekeeper was pleased, and was a way of offering thanks. This, of course was untrue logic. But the dragons believed the First Emperor's claims, and went along with it.

To support the concept of worship, they built a towering temple out of adobe bricks and limestone. The temple hidden within the Shrieking Wilds, now known as The First Temple. The Tizoc stone, was located at the top where the sacrifices would take place, while all the other clan members would watch from below. Bodies of sacrificed victims were thrown down the stairs after rituals, and then buried moments later.

After years of ruling, the First Emperor grew sick and passed. The physically strongest dragon assumed the role of emperor. The rules and lifestyle of the clan never changed, while new emperors came and left. Until, the Final Emperor, a powerful tundra, decided to change things...

One day, the clan had left their guard down. A sudden Beastclan raid wrecked and demolished most of their territory, stealing their crops and damaging their temple. The Final Emperor led the clan into hiding within Earth territory for a few months. When the clan returned to their home in Nature sometime later, they felt terrible about the condition of their ancestors' temple. The stone was crumbing from the wreckage, and vines of deadly plants covered the stairs.

It sparked something within the Final Emperor. He decided they should change their ways, start anew. To support his argument, he dug up hundred of dragons' skulls hidden in the ground from past sacrifices. The clan recognized the wrong, and fully supported the Final Emperor's decision. And so, they set off to find new territory, after abandoning the First Temple, leaving it to rot as ruins forever. It is never to be found again, so no other clan could ever discover the dark origins of Clan Ocelotl.

Being a clan who takes pride in their agricultural skills, they held a debate as to which flight they should move to. The build reminded them of their old temple, and they've heard good things about the oxygen-rich soil in the Windswept Plateau. And so, they made a journey through Shadow and Plague territory in order move to their new home.

The Final Emperor caught a terrible illness as they moved through Plague territory and unfortunately passed away before making it the Wind. The clan was a wreak, as many dragons began panicking, wondering who would continue to lead them. Some dragons left the clan in spite, while the rest of them figured the role of a leader was just contributing to the clan's old ways and would eventually lead them back to where they started. For example, the uniform rule for all incoming dragons wanting to join Ocelotl. They happily accept all new members, but only if their physical appearance consists of the color marigold. It's a bit of a harsh rule, but necessary in order to be considered as a true relative of the tribe. If a dragon is any other color, they are banished from Clan Ocelotl. This includes if two members have eggs, and one of their hatchlings don't have the color marigold, the couple would be forced to abandon the child. There have been occurrences in which dragons dyed themselves marigold with the flower's petals in order to fit in.
