so, uh... out of sheer impulse and inspiration, i ended up with 3 new dragons? and i love them all so much? i might've made a mistake or two along the way, but oh my god do i adore these new dragons.
and! they're all pirates - once, they sailed together on the seas with their beloved tethys, but once the tethys sank and all but two of the pirates died, the two survivors went to the shifting expanse where they now sail the sands instead! their new ship, the dreadram, is highly advanced - and still as terrifying as the tethys has been.

alastair's the captain, and for a pirate, he's a surprisingly good man. the loss of his crew has hit him incredibly hard, though, and he's still not sure how to deal with it. survivor's guilt is rough, especially when you're the captain - but it seems the change in scenery is working wonders.

freyr was the first mate, but he went down with the tethys. he was a fiercely loyal man and a terrifyingly skilled fighter, as well as the lover of captain alastair, making his death all the harder on alastair (whom freyr lovingly refers to as 'alay').
recently, though, it's become clear that he still walks the earth, as his ghostly figure has been appearing before alastair. as in life, all he wants is to help his dear alay in any way he can - especially when it comes to the poor captain's sorrow and grief.

caspar (yeah, he's trans!) is one of the younger crew members, both on the tethys and dreadram, and he's still not quite sure why he managed to survive. but in spite of his inexperience, he has recently been proving invaluable on the dreadram, since he's the only one able to operate the (technologically way too advanced for your average crew of pirates, or really anyone for that matter) dreadram properly.
he's been following captain alastair around everywhere, and sees him as something pretty close to a father figure! in the end, he's really just glad he can be useful in some way.

anyways!!!! thank you for listening to me ramble about these guys, i love them so much. so much.
show me your pirates? :0
update: i added some lore to alastair's bio, and by 'some' i of course mean 4000 words worth of it. go read it if you have the time, i'm pretty proud of it!

I said it on tumblr and I'll say it again, I love your pirate boys so much. They all look so good and their lore sounds amazing and ugh!! I'd die for Caspar in a heartbeat and no one can stop me ;_;
As for my own pirates, I have them not really looking much pirate-ish, not yet I guess? They all have lore blurbs in their bios if you're into some fast light reading >:3c
I tend to focus more on their own characters and relationships with others, and what they do in the Port which is the core of my whole clan's lore lmao.

Here's my captain, he's a dramatic bastard with lots of love for his best friends and even bigger ego. Has a penchant for knowledge and also the isle, and you may never know what he's about to do or say. You can safely assume he'll steal your wallet just for fun. A dumb rat I love him

El'tra is the quartermaster, and the closest (meaning: only) friend to the captain. Lazy, but super good with people, they take care of everyone and keep up the morale. Acts like an older brother to the navigator and as an accessory to any crimes March, the captain, commits. Life of the party.

And finally the navigator, Fes (name will change lmao), who never really planned on becoming a pirate. Suffice to say, March is very persuading. Quickly became one of the family, and now the three of them are my ultimate tomfoolery trio. He's dumb like the rest of them and also lost in life. But, to be fair, he actually takes a liking to March and the rest of the crew pretty quick. A good boy.
I should make like, rest of the crew, alas. I lack inspiration for now whoops. Also I need to get them better outfits buuuuuuut I am lazy and also Broke

Aaaa they're all so good and piratey! I only have one pirate, Mareka - she's been on shore leave for a suspiciously long time. She talks about "going back to sea" all the time, but then someone offers her another pint if she'll tell another story, and, well, what pirate could pass up an offer like that?

@Limanya I love your pirates so much! Sailing the sands instead of the sea is a wicked premise, I love it. Mine are of the usual seafaring variety, but this is some of the crew of The Queen's Parda:

The Captain, Raeni, grew up wandering across the Sea, seeking purpose. She found it in her ship and her crew, leading her Robin-Hood-esque band of pirates in capturing rich merchant ships. She's a cunning captain, and a ferocious fighter despite her tiny size.

Her first mate is Zasral, of the Highland Scrub. Ambitious and somewhat unpredictable, Zasral is a natural leader, and adjusted quickly to life on the seas. She has a keen eye for strategy, and is instrumental in the Parda’s successful raids of merchant ships.

Kida is Raeni's (trans) mate, and a skilled water mage. Kida’s far from invincible, but there’s no denying that her skill in elemental magic is especially formidable. She frequently lends her talents to protecting the Parda from storms or rough seas, and can strand their targeted prey in still waters.

Also essential to the Parda's smooth sailing is Felix, the navigator. His mastery of the stars and intuitive sense of direction make him invaluable, and his colouring – like the first rays of sunrise – is considered good luck by superstitious sailors.
