Update 7/12/2021: I'm entertaining the idea of returning from hiatus, and in the meantime tidying up my lair and taking out dragons that I've tired of. All sales up for negotiation at this time.

Few dragons make the trek to Oakrest. It is remote, unforgiving country. Those who do travel by caravan, the wheels of their carts clattering across the Shattered Plain along an ancient road to the northwest. It is a long, unrewarding journey, as the dragons of Oakrest do not welcome visitors to the Citadel. They are known to be cool and standoffish to those from outside, and rumor passes among visitors of creatures who walk in the guises of dragons and had nearly devoured the clan from within.
Making camp in this lonely corner of the world is no great joy. Harpies and Serthis patrol the plains, and while the box canyons are defensible, wind shrieks through them like the tormented howls of the dead. Shapes which dazzle the mind block out the stars where no peak had been in the day, and now and again the already chill temperature plummets until four blankets is not enough.
Those who can afford the luxury of lodgings, then, often choose to stay at Little Acorn Inn, where a cheerful sign reminds a visitor that All Are Welcome Here. Guests enjoy the warmth of a fire and a mug of tea, a stew made from local forrage, and later a safe bed. The bard at the hearth tells stories of local hauntings, playing up Oakrest's reputation for being built above ancient tombs. The proprietors fawn over guests from near and far. A traveling merchant pulls on her cloak against the chill and teases the barkeep about the spirit by the crossroads. A visitor may get the feeling that this is all a well-rehearsed variation on a theme.
But when the fire is banked and the guests turn in for the evening, a knowing look passes between the staff.
"The light again," one says, peering out through the window at the blackness beyond.
"It can't be helped. But why don't you stay for the night? That's your way home. Kusil will understand."
"What's it they say in the Citadel? 'If you don't run, they probably won't chase you?' I'll be alright. See you tomorrow."
As the door shuts, the figure becomes swallowed by the night and the ringing of the entry bells fade to silence. Outside, the wind blows softly, then fiercely, clattering the sign against the fence:
Greetings from Oakrest, and welcome to Little Acorn Inn! This is a lore hatchery offering a wide range of colors and genes. More than that, each hatchling is posted with individualized starter lore based on their parents, ongoing circumstances in and around Little Acorn Inn and the Citadel, and other larger plot devices. Each hatch will post with a piece of a longer story, which you are welcome to enjoy as a member of the general pinglist.
Whether you're a new lore clan, an old hand at storytelling, or just looking for something a little different, I hope you find something that piques your interest and keeps you coming back for more!
Please feel free to browse the pairs available and add or remove yourself from the self-editing pinglist, or ask me to do it if you are unable to access the spreadsheet. If you have any questions, comments, or just want to talk about breedings and lore, please feel free to post! I am subscribed, and happy to discuss my dragon habits!
- I am subscribed. You do not need to ping me, but it does not cause me any problems if you do.
- The hatchery has a self-editing pinglist, but if you are not able to access it, please let me know and I will be happy to add or remove you as requested.
- Please be polite with me and with other posters.
- Gem:Treasure exchange is 1:1000. I will accept mixed payments and trades. See the 'Alternate Payment Options' post for more details!
- Dragons may or may not post on the day they are hatched. Do not message me to reserve a hatchling not listed in the AH. I do not take reserves.
- Purchases are first-come, first-serve. Again: I do not take reserves.
- Prices listed are ideal. Haggling is welcome! I am not offering discounts at this time.
- Once you buy a dragon from me, what you do with it is your business. Bio wipes, alignment shifts, lore rewrites, regening - have a party! I love seeing what you do with these children, so any time you want to show them off, please feel free!
- I can usually hold a dragon for up to one week. Please feel free to ask, and I will tell you if there are any problems with this timeline.
- Pinglists are not guarantees (obviously). It's free to look. I don't assume you're going to buy a dragon when you're on a list.
- Please tell me if you are looking for something specific in lore! I am always happy to find new themes to explore!
