General Pinglist: @CosmicFalcon @Salathielly @Quis @rotdeer @MeraHunt @gbot13 @ells @Tala2121 @Azuroru A weird hatch, but any excuse to tell a story, lol. I was planning on having to breed the pair a second time, but they gave me the closest they could for my goal, so I suppose that's satisfactory. \o/ Oh well... Babies!
The Keeper of the Watch had given Lorn a poisonous stare when he dared take a potash peach, baked in its own warm, sweet, sticky glaze, from the Keeper's plate. Lorn hadn't wilted under the look. He'd just listened to the story and sucked the glaze from his fingertips. It was a terrible story, honestly. Lorn could have made it up on the fly: Dead caravaners, unresponsive rescue party, a long night, two hapless and uninterested heroes... and a letter of conscript. That was the kicker. Lorn read it a few times, just to make sure there wasn't some fine print that got him off the hook for this fool's errand, since he was of no mind to go traipsing out into the frigid tail-end of Dragonhome in the middle of the night to risk his hide against Eleven-Knew-WHat to find Eleven-Knew-That-Too. As far as Lorn was concerned, those caravaners were dead-dead, and so was everyone else who had been sent out after them. And so were they with these letters of conscript, signed by the delegate of Lord High Horse himself, Copperlight of Oakrest. It didn't even mention how they'd be compensated if they lived or died, won or lost. Just that they were mandated to perform this duty neither of them asked to do. Bier just listed, staid and solid, while Lorn ate another of the Keeper of the Watch's peaches out of spite. He'd barely been to the Citadel, didn't know how they knew he was still here! As far as they were concerned, he could be indigent, a drifter, a fake, a con! He wasn't, but he didn't know them - how did they know him? Bier asked questions: Who'd been sent, when were they sent, how long since last contact, who had they spoken with, what about Karina... Lorn barely listened, even about Karina. She was his friend, certainly, but he considered her dead, too. He felt the fire in his belly from the peaches, and he seethed at the letter in his claws. After the Keeper of the Watch answered his questions, Bier sighed heavily. "Listen," he told them, "Titus is here. We both know how he gets about the Plains. He shouldn't be here. Can you take him home?" The Keeper's eyes sorted the crowd, then landed on the pushy skydancer. They sighed, then shook their head. "Until the Plains are safe to travel, he's best here." Bier cursed softly. "I'll tell Gentian to keep him comfortable." Then he turned to Lorn. "Give me an hour. I'll be ready." And that sealed it. Bier wouldn't protest, and Lorn couldn't well let the only other dragon wrapped up in this mess that was still alive to go out there and get dead. While Bier wandered away the picture of calm, Lorn's claws crunched the letter of conscript into a ball and slammed it back down on the table, his paper still clinging to his sticky claws. He leaned across at the other pearlcatcher, who stared him down with eyes unphased by his display of frustration. "What will you do, Keeper, when you run out of bodies to dump on this fire?" The Keeper shifted their wings to a more relaxed carriage, drew the remains of their peaches closer to them. "Stones will outlast the fire," they said. "Depends on the stone," Lorn said as he rose and took the last peach from the plate. "Diamonds will burn right up." I reserve all rights to change any dragon's body to save on gems, treasure, or otherwise so long as I keep story and connection to previous body within bio. I personally call it transmutation.
@DescendentMoon - Sure can! I'll send you a CR. :) And I'll update your pings. Thanks for your interest!

I'd like to be pinged for Delfine and Valla nests, but I don't see them on the self editable list anywhere. Am I missing something?
