Biography
“What is this affliction, truly?”
Those who train with the necromancers of Sailuma may find themselves watched by a strange duo. They study, they practice their endurance, all under their watchful gaze. Some whisper that they bring luck to the trials, be it through the plague they train others with or the symbols they pass on to those they see promise in. Most blessed by their touch find the trials to be a breeze, though they'll never forget the strange beast that watched them as they fought off their fevers, be it a test or the trial itself. This is the tale of the Barghest, Dagda. |

He watches the set of drakes as they settle by his partner Moira, each one accepting her own affliction to build their strength for the trials ahead of them. Some struggle against the rash that forms along their backs, clutching pearls or twisting into knots. Each one was determined to fight it off, to hone what skills they have before facing the Plaguebringer herself. He watches the snapper as they start pacing, just as they have done time and again when exposed to his partner's pestilence. He cannot help but notice how they slowly begin to wear their path further along with each day of practice. The spiral, meanwhile, continues to tie themselves in knots, just to untie themselves again and again. It's hard to tell if they're doing this out of frustration, or to simply pass the time at this point. The pearlcatcher catches his eye, adding yet another layer of lacquer to their pearl. They do this every single time, from when they get the rash to when they fend off the last of that angry red on their back. Sometimes it dries a sickly green, others a faint red. This time, it almost looks as though it's drying in faint red streaks. It's promising to him, in a way, causing him to shuffle over to his partner. "You're going to join them for their trials, aren't you." Her words are a statement, a familiar one at that. He's chosen a group for every batch of trials before, hoping to study how his own affliction would affect those taking the trials. Of course, he watches from afar, but that's all he needs to study his arcane curse in action. It may be on a small scale, but it still amazes him every single time. Sometimes his presence encourages them to fight harder. Other times, it frightens them, snapping their concentration in ways that cause the plague to consume them. Once he even spared one, using his presence in their dream to stave back their pestilence, turning them into a wraith. "This is the first pearlcatcher with promise to me. They seem capable of aiding my study more than the others." They keep records, while the others are more focused on tackling the trials alone. They do not care to observe their trials, to take note of anything that happens. The pearlcatcher was different. They risked their own strength and time to record their pestilence in their pearl, to look back on each fever dream with a scrutiny few had. His partner sighs at that, stepping away from the group. "They leave in the morning, so prepare accordingly." He nods to her as she leaves, eyeing the pearlcatcher as they use a claw to etch faint runes into their pearl. He cannot wait to see what their pearl looks like when he walks their dreams during their trials, whittling away at their dreams as he asks the same question he's asked time and again about himself: What is his affliction, this magical beast he becomes that walks the dreams of others, haunting their every move as they slowly wither away? Perhaps, through this research, he can find a cure, or at least an inoculation for those untouched by this curse.

![]() Blessed by Arcane Magus | It had been decades before the Witchborne had deemed it safe to marry once again under the blessings of the dragon deities, which resulted into Witchborne more capable of honing their abilities that they would grow into, all under the element they were born into. The Children had proved to be more adept, or at some times, surprising as some elements, despite its opposition to a Witchborne's abilities, gave up exciting results from the harmony made from conflict. The newer, harsher elements, such as Remordeo, Obscurus, Lychnus and Magus, made for stronger Children who aimed to harness more anarchic energies, one such as Chaos. |

In the dark days before the light of Plaguebringer’s Cauldron scoured our lands clean of the damp creeping woods and devouring grasses, we wandered. Scavengers, we were called. Marauders, War-mongers, unwanted and lost. Nowhere welcomed us until She said “Take. Take. This world shall be yours. Take my Left Hand, let it carve a place for you.” And from Her three talons rose Her servants, our deliverance: the Necromancers and their brethren. Her touch is the scourge of destruction, Her breath the cataclysm, Her voice the judgement of doom upon the unworthy who crawl amongst the quick and the green in the sap-sickened forests. Now the Wyrmwound expells virulent contagion. And She grants us Her hand sinister, Her left hand, in guidance and in retribution. |
