Biography
We are the blood of the witches you thought were dead. We carry witchcraft in our bones whilst the magic still sings inside our heads. |
Lorien paced along the ocean's coast as the moon raised higher into the sky. His wife, Melaine was shuffling her cards idly to keep busy. This must have been how his parents felt when he was born. The water was calm, soothing, and there was a warmer breeze...the Spring Equinox was here, spring will finally bring warmer weather. His wife smiled softly at his worry and wrapped her arms around him as he stared at the water covered nest, guarding the three future Witchbornes. They stood in silence, enjoying the midnight hour. Off in the distance they can see the lanterns that the clan light every night, they could hear Aytama, the Midwife and Laima, the Nest Guard quietly tend to the shallows ready to assist them whenever their children join them in the moonlight. It didn't take long before the telltale bubbles emerge from the eggs. Lorien was the first to enter the water followed by the calm guidance of Aytama. It was surreal for him, holding his first born...she was beautiful. He looked towards his wife and she held their first son; the spitting image of herself. Aytama help the youngest, a boy, "He favors his father's looks." smiled Aytama as she handed the child to Lorien. The new parents were left allow, quietly cooing over the newborns as they breathed their first breath of air, in awe of the creation before them. Melaine quietly started to shuffle the cards again and smiled at her husband, "Would you like to do the honors?" Lorien smiled and reached forward, drawing a card for each child starting with his first born. "Ace of Swords..." He couldn't help but smile, of course it has seemed like fate has decided to continue the tradition of the swords being passed down to the first borns; his father (IV of swords), himself (Reversed IV of swords), and now his very own first born. Quietly and excitedly, he drew the next card for his first son, "Ace of Cups." Melaine and Lorien chuckled at the coincidence of the cards. They looked to their last child and drew the final card of the night, "The Tower." Melaine was curious about the card. Lorien, who had very little idea of the cards meanings saw her concern but assured that all is well. They smiled and continued to coo over their first borns throughout the night. |
Elenath never knew what it was like to live without magic. From the moment he was born it was always there, an unstoppable current that came rushing to his clawtips at the slightest thought. His first calling was the mist, just as his grandmother before him. It wasn't long before the hatchling could slip through it like the fastest of shadows, a wraith in the night. He had always been smaller than his siblings, even his sickly sister, but that never slowed him down. His second calling was not something that could be summoned, but rather visions. Sights of his ancestors' ghost, grim and sullen and so, so powerful. Elenath was never afraid, but rather was sorry for them. Did they not laugh or find the humor in this world? So from them on that became his goal, to put a smile on the faces of those who had come before him. It began in the temple. He never broke or took anything, merely swapped objects and shifted the places of items. He was always gone before they could find them, vanished like the mist that he wielded. They all knew it was him, but none of them could prove it. He was such a sweet child when he came with his parents, full of smiles and easy laughter. He made them smile a little too, even if it was in exasperation. His ancestors watched on, shaking their heads and giggling slightly at his antics. It earned him his title before he even left home. Elenath, the Troublemaker. Eventually, of course, came a day when it was time for the now adolescent dragon to part ways. An arrangement was struck with an allied clan, The Dawnchasers, and he was to book passage on their ship when it called into port. His goodbyes were hopeful, that of a child heading out into the world for the first time. He would see his parents again soon enough and plenty of times after that. The city was enormous and much in need of his talents. He took up a living as a mercenary of sorts, helping dragons with anything form finding lost possessions to eliminating threats to allowing communications between them and lost loved ones. At the same time he stayed on the lookout for any traces of the Child Eaters so that they could be ended once and for all. He lived in the clan for years, took a mate, and had many children with her, but most of their little ones were taken by a ChildEater that had lived near by, he finally found and took a vicious pleasure in killing it. even this however did not save his relationship with his mate as she blamed him for the deaths of their hatchlings and in a way he blamed himself more than she ever could. He found a ship which was willing to take him where he wanted and he willingly paid for his travel by helping on the ship. he enjoyed the work and learned quickly, talking with those around him and joking with ease, grinning when he managed to make one of the crew laugh. another male skydancer, Eirikur, seemed to take a liking to him and the two become closer friends and soon were inseparable sharing stories of the hatchlings they had buried and mates that had abandoned them. |
When the witch hunters imprisoned our ancestors, when they tried to burn the magic away. Someone should have warned them that magic cannot be tamed. Because you cannot burn away what has always been aflame. -Nikita Gill |
