Many know of the beast who monitors the trials, studying a magical curse that haunts imperials. Few know of the one who stalks the dreams of these afflicted, guarding those taking the trials with her own pestilence. No matter their walk in life, she stalks these hounds in earnest, starry eyes locked on those who would feed on those who would be necromancers someday. This is the tale of the Barghest, Lorien. |

WITCHBORNE TRAITS: January, the Wolf Moon Witchborne dragons hatched under the Wolf moon have very strong connections to their ancestors, making them very powerful seers, diviners and oracles. They have the advantage of uncommon knowing and uncanny intuition, and may even be able to shift, create or give dreams, and be part of the dream, earning the title of 'Dreamwalkers'. They are extremely loyal to their charges, and are very adept in telling the future based on the events transpiring now. They are also extremely resourceful escape artists and could always predict the next attack and are revered as strategists in any war council.
BARGHEST TRAIT:
TAROT MEANING: The Page of Pentacles card depicts a youth standing all by himself in a wide field surrounded by flowers. In the background, you will also notice several lush trees and a furrowed field. The young man seems to be walking in a slow manner and appears unaware of his surroundings, for his attention is completely captured by the coin he is holding, and all that it represents: ambition, security, wealth, nature, and sensuality. The Page of Pentacles symbolizes a person who is grounded, loyal and diligent. When we meet the Page of Pentacles, we see immediately that she is one that is ambitious and focused. She is protected, nourished, provided for by the suit whose name she bears. Guided by it, she is deeply tied to the earth, nature, and all of its gifts. She cherishes the body, for it too is something which is a manifestation of her element. Her diligence, ambition and loyalty drives her to quickly make plans for the future - for it is there where her focus lies. When you meet her, she may be the bearer of news connected to all earthly and material matters. When you hear her message, be inspired as she is - lay down the foundations to follow your ambitions. Generally, the Page of pentacles refers to the kind of energy that you need to complete all that is needed for your work. It may point to the determination, focus and the ability to stick with a particular task no matter how boring it may seem.
The Witchborne are dragons who have survived the heavy brunt of Witch-Hunting and of the Trials by Flame, conditioned to live in harsher circumstances and trained to the most extent of their abilities. They hold neither a light or dark magic, but of a more ethereal and primordial case, Chaos Magick, which allows them to make use of any element within range of advantage. Despite other dragons' misunderstanding and often than not, false perception of what and who the Witchborne are, it is made clear that through their infamous prowess in battle and even more mystical and mysterious ways of eliminating the so called Child-Eaters (witches who have gone rogue and turned to using the flesh of younglings for blood and bone sacrifices), the Witchborne are a line of guardians and seekers, protectors of Witches, Wizards and of dragons alike, a force to be reckoned with in either a battle at night or day.
One important object that all the Witchborne always carry with them is the Babylon Candle, a magical artifact that could teleport a person from one place to another, just by alighting the wick and clearly thinking and visualizing the exact location in which the one holding the candle would wish to be. However, Babylon Candles are rare enough to come by and so Witchborne only use it, as it burns away just after only two lightings, in desperate measures, always prioritizing escape, either for them, or their charges, no one else's. Other's may even call it the Witch's Candle, as it is not always traditional for magic-users to use the broom stick as a means of travelling. Babylon Candles are ebony black, but doesn't emit a orange red flame like any normal candle, but the blue of night fires, bathing everything in a ghostly blue light. Witchborne may decorate it in gems or their own feathers, wrapped in the beads that may even carry different meanings of the runes they favor, bless it with the herbs they prefer.
This dragon does not carry the colors and genes of a Witchborne, but the blood of their ancestors still runs in their veins. They still hold some ideals close to their chest, and though they are bound to another, the practices of a Witchborne often shine through in their actions. Their descendants likely won't be Witchborne themselves, but those who follow them may find themselves among the Witchborne if their colors match down the line. This dragon is descended from a Necromancer, and hit the mark with their colors. As such, they can be registered as a Necromancer themselves. Their father had managed the same, despite his barghest curse. With the patient tutelage of their mother, they have invariably passed with flying colors, while carrying the curse themselves. What happens after their trials, however, is unknown. |
 Blessed by Arcane Magus | It had been decades before the Witchborne had deemed it safe to marry once again under the blessings of the dragon deities, which resulted into Witchborne more capable of honing their abilities that they would grow into, all under the element they were born into. The Children had proved to be more adept, or at some times, surprising as some elements, despite its opposition to a Witchborne's abilities, gave up exciting results from the harmony made from conflict. The newer, harsher elements, such as Remordeo, Obscurus, Lychnus and Magus, made for stronger Children who aimed to harness more anarchic energies, one such as Chaos. |
