“Quote”
M ists appear from the seas, blanketing the sands. The only evidence of the rumored beast is the fading paw prints within the sands. A magician by day, he always seems to know of said beast...very few dare wonder if he is said beast. This is the tale of the Barghest, Asra. |
Asra has always been sheltered by the dark when he was a pup. His mother took pride in her hidden abilities and taught him the same. When he was born, she consulted her tarot deck and pulled the Magician card. With the blessing of the Witchbornes, she knew he would be strong and well protected. Especially being with her ancestor-kin, Lorien. As he grew, he was taught in controlling the mists, to use it in a way to cloak himself whenever he was in danger. His body would be surrounded by mist but then his body would merge with it. A once solid form, now ghostly and freely moving through and around potential enemies. His mother was so proud. Sometimes, he would ask about his father...who had disappeared in the night the day before his birth, but his mother would go silent. She didn't like talking about him so Asra had stopped asking. Into his adolescents, his mischievous behavior had grown. He loved to pull pranks and schemes. His mother warned him of his recklessness to the wrong beings. Many do not take lightly to his jokes. So he put his focus on those who do wrong. His talent for illusions and tricks became his specialty. A skillset that caught the attention of other beasts: Hide and Thorne. They helped him hone his mischief abilities and how to use it against enemies. When Valefar joined the clan, he helped Asra with showmanship, being a circus leader, Valefar has many tips to help draw in poor souls. Being close in age, Asra and Valefar had become very close friends and sometimes will travel together, Valefar bringing the big top with Asra his most talented act, who brings forth mystery and wonder; known for his tarot cards and stories. Valefar would help Asra pick the souls to trick, but over time, Asra chooses his own victims. Shifty scammers find themselves losing to him, the pro scammer; however, Asra isn't greedy. He gives back to those who were scammed by these scum which makes him very popular among the desperate, but he vanishes as quickly as he appears. His favorite, it scamming those who gamble with their lives. On dark nights when the full moon rises, like his kin, he goes through the shifts. No longer does he feel ashamed by this shift like his mother. Dark fur damped by the mist, he walks along the beaches edge or within the quiet towns. Those who wonder along the beach at night say that within the mists, a beast roams. glowing cards seem to swirl around it. Rumors say that those who slink within the alley ways late at night disappear, but no one dares to speak up. Others say that the beast is sent by Asra to collect debt from those who do not pay up. So beware when you make a deal with a stranger, you could be making a deal with a beast. Nothing is scarier than to be hunted down when your debt is to be collected.

WITCHBORNE TRAITS: March, the Crow Moon These dragons are meticulous scavengers (and curious to a fault), and are often seen picking at the remains or dwellings of Child-Eaters' hovels. Often than not, anyone can get confused upon which Witch has become a Child-Eater and so these dragons are here to help them differentiate. Very much like the Witchborne of the Wolf Moon, they have a reputation of being crafty wisdom-keepers, but are also rumored to be terrible at keeping secrets. Nevertheless, Witchborne under the Crow Moon also have the ability to communicate with the dead, as they prove to be more truthful than any other evidence. The information they take from the dead, as such example are murder victims, are scarily accurate that could pinpoint the exact time of their own deaths, the murder weapon, their attacker. Often times, they also depend on the spirits in thrall with the Witchborne of the Wolf Moon that they may rely on. Through this, they can't either be lied to as they are quite quick to know the truth through supernatural perception.
BARGHEST TRAIT:
|
Blessed by Water Imber | When it became apparent that through the water, the other dragons could condemn those who they believed had taken their children, the element became their means to an end. But as soon as the whereabouts of Child-Eaters came to surface, it is there where the water had proved to be most fatal to those dreaded fallen witches, burning them and their putrefied physicality as if doused by acid. Witchborne who are christened under this element became adept in controlling the Mist, being able to create, draw, scry through any pool of liquid, and even purify them for their own spells, or for drinking purposes. |
TAROT MEANING:
The Magician is one tarot card that is filled with symbolism. The central figure depicts someone with one hand pointed to the sky, while the other hand points to the ground, as if to say "as above, so below". This is a rather complicated phrase, but its summarization is that earth reflects heaven, the outer world reflects within, the microcosm reflects the macrocosm, earth reflects God. It can also be interpreted here that the magician symbolizes the ability to act as a go-between between the world above and the contemporary, human world.
