(1) Dragons must be at least five generations apart from their mate. Before you invest in a dragon make sure it's not related to its prospective mate! It's a common mistake in FR and potentially a costly one, so assay bloodlines! (2) Make sure your pair is Ready to Breed (RTB). If you see this egg then you must wait before you can get started.

_______________________________ Breeds are classed by rarity determined by the length of the cool down period. Rarity also affects the odds of hatching specific breeds. Pairing dragons of the same rarity, ie. two Plentifuls gives a 50/50 chance of hatching either. If you pair a Common and a Plentiful the odds are slightly greater of hatching the Plentiful. If you pair a Rare dragon with a Plentiful chances are almost 100% all hatchlings will be the Plentiful breed.

What about genes...? ________________________________

There are three types of gene classification: primary, secondary and tertiary. Each affects a different part of the dragon. All genes are also broken into rarity categories.

_________________ Secondary Genes : 'wing genes' affect wings and accent spots -- tail fur, head feathers, horns, etc.

_________________ Tertiary Genes: can cover body and wings; overlaps primary and secondary genes

_______________________________ FR offers 177 colors and each dragon has three: one for each gene -- primary, secondary and tertiary. Some abbreviations refer to color: XXY indicates a matching primary and secondary. XYX means primary and tertiary colors match and so on. ◈ COLOR RANGE PREDICTOR ◈ Offspring colors are determined by the parent's range. FR operates on a color wheel so range is defined by the shortest distance between the parents' colors, up to and including their own color.

___Nests ______& Eyes A dragon's flight is determined by the nest it hatches in. If you wish to breed pairs in a different nest for lore reasons, or to coordinate eye-color there are rental services available in the forums. Always read and respect the rules of the thread and of fellow renters! Dragons can have anywhere from 1 - 4 eggs, but parents of different breeds have a chance of laying five eggs. It will take 6 days to hatch your nest if you incubate every day. That's five days of incubation and one for hatching! A day is calculated according to FR time. To hatch your eggs you must have enough space in your lair. There's no penalty for leaving eggs on a nest, they simply wait until you're ready for them. _______________________________ ( 1 ) The Auction House (AH): List within flight or realm-wide. Dragons can't have a familiar, skins or apparel, or be part of a coli team and, once listed dragons can't be named. Check how similar dragons are listed to determine price; listing in treasure involves paying an AH tax. ( 2 ) Hatcheries: Great for showing off pairs and hatchlings but require work and upkeep to be effective. Make sure your layout is user-friendly and bump the thread often. Build-up your affiliates and advertise to grow your pinglists!

_______________________________ ( 3 ) Dragons Wanted Forum: Check often to see if someone's looking for dragons that match what you're selling. It's a great way to advertise your hatchery and pairs. Hatcheries require lots of work to maintain, and can be costly to start-up. Don't rush into opening one straight away! Take your time to get familiar with the site, as well as your own preferences. A theme, even a loose one, is recommended, and can give your hatchery continuity. You can also refine the types of dragons you sell: particular breeds/genes, subspecies, fan dragons, lore dragons etc. Use art to make your hatchery unique and fun.

Layout and coding can make or break a hatchery! The more user-friendly you can make your thread, the better! Dragons for sale should be as close to the top as you can place them, followed by your pairs. Fonts should be clear and legible and any rules or writing kept to a minimum. Links and navigation lists are a great tool to allow people to hop to what they're looking for.

Pair cards display your breeding dragons so people can decide if they're interested in their offspring. Cards can be as simple or as elaborate as you like, but keep in mind their function! While the temptation may be to show-off you dragons in all their finery, it's best to remove any accents and apparel so that the dragons' appearance can be clearly seen. For pairs with ranges, try to offer hatchling previews. You can also list price ranges for offspring from each pair.

_______________________________ BREEDING PROJECTS: when your dream dragon doesn't exist on FR, you start a breeding project. These often turn into gene projects once the desired dragon(s) have hatched. Breeding projects require lair space, determination and perseverance!

_______________________________ GENE PROJECTS: when you set-out to perfect a dragon by swapping genes. This can be as simple as one gene, or as complicated as three genes and a breed change! These projects require skill in earning treasure, as well as budgeting!

_____________________P R O J E C T ____________________T I P S ____ _____________________ Scrying Workshop The Scrying Workshop is where most projects begin! Use Predict Morphology to preview all breeds, genes and color combinations to discover your dream dragon, or input a dragon in your clan to see what genes might suit them best! Foresee Progeny tests potential pairings, whether you own the dragon or not. And remember: always Assay Bloodlines! Search all of time & space, or at least all of FR, to find any dragon. You can even search exalted dragons. Keep search terms broad to start ie. color only, and get more specific if you get lots of results. ___ Don't be afraid to ask if a player will sell/breed a dragon. Be polite, you're asking for a favor and the user is under no obligation. Check their profile in case they don't accept PMs, and check the dragon you're requesting as well, sometimes people put notes in the profile indicating if they will/won't sell etc. Respect the answer you receive, even if it's not the one you wanted to hear! Ping/PM! Breeding Fodder The more pairs you have breeding a single dragon the greater the odds of success! The goal is offspring-- the more the better -- so plentiful or common breeds are best. It might be worth breed changing fodder to reduce cool down. Check the odds of hatching your dragon! Avoid inbreeding by picking the best 1 or 2 babies of each clutch and selling/exalting the rest, and never stop checking the AH or Searching for better matches.

____Making _Changes...

Scrolls let you modify dragons. Remove skins and apparel before applying scrolls to avoid glitches!

Breed Change: Fae Specialty Items Changes the breed of one dragon to Fae. Fae dragons are a plentiful breed with a 15-day breeding cooldown. 5000 Breed Change Scrolls Changes breed of one dragon. Unless RTB before application, cooldown will not be affected. After dragon is RTB, cooldown will reflect new breed. Treasure marketplace items, excepting: Coatl: gem marketplace Bogsneak: brewable in Baldwin's {LVL 16) Imperial: a kickstarter breed; scrolls not available Nocturne: available for Night of the Nocturne (Dec.) Wildclaw: gem marketplace, cycles in and out Gene Scrolls Changes gene permanently until new gene is applied. Treasure marketplace except for 'rare' genes, which are gem items, and some 'limited' that are brewable in Baldwin's. Tertiary Gene: Runes Specialty Items A scroll that will change the tertiary gene of one dragon to Runes. This item can only be used once and will disappear after it has been applied. 19000 Scroll of Eternal Youth Turns any dragon into a perma-baby, until a Scroll of Maturity is applied. Babies can't wear skins or apparel, be used as a profile icon or breed. This is a gem item. Scroll of Eternal Youth Specialty Items A magic scroll that will transform a dragon to a hatchling forever. This item will disappear after use. 0

Scroll of Renaming Specialty Items This scroll allows you to bestow a new name upon a dragon. It can only be used once and will disappear after it has been applied. 600 Scroll of Renaming change the name of your dragon. Treasure item. Remove Gene: Primary Specialty Items A scroll that will reset the Primary gene of one dragon back to its Basic color. (NOTE: This item does NOT allow you to select a new primary gene color.) 1000 Remove Gene Scroll Return a gene to 'basic'. You do not have to remove a gene to change it. Boon of Fertility Instantly hatches one nest, regardless of remaining incubation days. Gem item. Boon of Fertility Specialty Items A magical boon bestowed by the gods. This item allows you to hatch one of your nests immediately. Cannot be used on a nest that is in its final period of incubation. 0 Scroll of Maturity ages one hatchling into an adult. Does not make the dragon RTB. Gem item. Scroll of Maturity Specialty Items A magical scroll that will immediately age one hatchling into an adult dragon. (This item does NOT remove the dragon's breeding cooldown.) 0

___________________________ S A V I N G S Use Your Vault : set a limit of usable treasure, whenever you reach it, deposit into your vault. (Don't touch your savings, except to buy genes/gems!) Set-Up a Gene Fund: with the First Galactic Bank. Trade for Gems: in Items for Sale. Find gem ratio based on how others are buying/selling. When you can afford a bundle (100+) trade treasure for gems.

___________________________ 💎 Fairgrounds: Max-out the daily Lucky Streak! Artefracture or Shock Switch are the best to play. 💎 Coliseum Grinding: Take your team into the Coli! Stick to the same venue for a few days/weeks to build sizeable stacks of same-type items. 💎 Exalt Fodder: Buy inexpensive dragons to level. LVL 5 and up will should result in profit!
