@fenshae, @TruthandLies, @Karrikut, @Jaspernoir, @MysteryGyn Welp, today was the day... with surprising results.
Today was the day. Shaneya's daughters had grown into fine young dragonesses, and this would be the day that one would prevail while the rest would fall. Shaneya had left Nora and Sheriah back with their father while she led Pernessia and Aegis to the training fields. Mixed emotions fluttered through Shaneya. There was a pang of regret as she knew she was leading at least three of her children to their deaths, a pang of fear that what she ws doing would be discovered, but also a feeling of burning ambition, as she knew she was only making her bloodline stronger. She was ready. "What are we doing, mom?" Pernessia asked, grinning as she was excited to see what was in store. "We're going beast slaying" Shaneya responded simply. "Oooh, do you think we'll find any treasure?" Aegis asked. "We might" Shaneya said. She knew the lands were crawling in beasts, watching them and waiting to strike. They had their first encounter rather quickly, they were up against Emerald Webwings. Pernessia made the first move, rakeing her claws down one's face, Aegis following suit and attacking the webwing as well. This mearly pissed it off, and it scored Pernessia's face with it's own set of talons. Growling, Pernessia attacked the Webwing once more, Aegis backing her up, the sisters fighting as a team. Things got shaky however, when the Webwings turned their attention to Aegis, attacking her relentlessly. Pernessia managed to fight them off of her, but not until after they had done a number on her sister. "Aegis..." Pernessia said. "You shouldn't fight anymore" She urged. Aegis shook her head. "I'm fine." She said confidently. Sheneya sighed at their exchange before noticing that the commotion from the battle had attracted more beasts. "We still have company, girls" Shaneya alerted her daughters. A mere Amarant moth decided to challenge them next, but the trio made quick work of it. However, the peace was short lived, because ember mice came lurching out of the bushes behind the fallen moth, snarling. They were much faster than the previous enemies, and Pernessia got struck with a few strong blows. Then, the enemies kept coming, this time a trio of webwings. There was no rest for the sisters. Suddenly, a silky webwing dug his claws into Pernessia's neck. After a brief struggle, the silky webwing flew off, but Pernessia had fallen to the ground. "Pernessia!" Aegis cried, trying to run over to her sister. "Leave her, Aegis! We need to finish this battle!" Sheneya ordered. Tears filled Aegis's eyes, but she did as her mother wished. At the end of the battle, she crawled over to her sister, sobbing. "Pernessia, wake up!" Aegis cried, shaking her sister's body. Shaneya came up to Aegis. "That beast snapped her neck..." Shaneya observed, seeing the kink in her daughter's bones. "There's nothing we can do for her, she's gone." Aegis sobbed harder. ~~~~ Shaneya had taken Aegis home to her father, and now had Nora and Sheriah with her and took them to the training grounds. She sighed, but her resolve had strengthened. She had witnessed one of her daughters die, but having gone through it, she knew she could grin and bear the two other inevitable deaths coming her way. During their first battle, Shaneya was actually suprised by how well Nora was fighting. Nora was doing surprisingly well striking down her enemies. However, Shaneya also saw that she was too easy to hit. Sheriah, on the other hand, could dodge easily, but couldn't seem to manage a hit. Only time would tell who would survive. However, a pair of sparrowmice were all it took. They attacked Nora relentlessly and easily struck the fae down. Shaneya hissed at this. Nora had shown her strenght yet, proved her weakness. A mixture of anger and releif hit Shaneya when Nora died, anger that she had succumbed so easily, yet releif that a fae wouldn't carry on her legacy. Anger also seemed to hit Sheriah, as the spiral raged and struck down the sparrowmice afterwards. ~~~~ Shaneya's biggest challenge yet was to pursuade Aegis to go back in the field. "Aegis, your sister's have passed thanks to these retched beasts. Don't you want to get stronger to avenge them?" Shaneya said. Aegis had her back towards Shaneya and said nothing. "Please Aegis, come with Sheriah and I, we'll get stronger and avenge your sisters." "You did nothing when that webwing attacked Pernessia!" Aegis shrieked, turning on her mother. "You let her die!" "Aegis, Mother wouldn't just let her die." Sheriah hissed. "I watched her attack and help me kill the demons that killed Nora." Aegis growled but looked away. "Please, go with them to train" Baroke said, placing a talon on Aegis's shoulder. "Fine." ~~~~ The sisters persisted through their first battle, then their second, their third, and their fourth. Their fifth was their challenge, a Ragepuff striking down Sheriah shortly after the beginning of the challenge. Aegis did her best to beat back the puffs, and Shaneya aided her. They had killed them rather quickly. Aegis landed on the ground and caught her breath. Everything was quiet. However, it would yet again be short lived. The greatest challenge would be yet to come. Shaneya looked at Aegis. Her heir. She smiled, but was soon tackled from behind. "You are under arrest by the order of the queen!" A mirror spat, holding Shaneya down. Shaneya twisted her neck to look at her captor. It was Angmar, one of her old clan-mates. They had figured her out. "Aegis, run!" Shaneya yelled. Aegis didnt have to be told twice, she bolted as soon as her mother gave the word. After all, she had never seen Angmar before, nor any of the other dragons she had picked up by scent. There were at least five strangers to her. She dissapeared into the woods. ~~~~ Back where they were training, Angmar already had Shaneya detained. She was sitting on the ground, legs and arms tied so she couldn't escape. Angmar was sitting beside her, waiting for the others. Shaneya could feel vibrations in the ground where she sat, a Guardian dragon, or maybe an Imperial, was coming. It turned out it was both. An Imperial that Shaneya had recalled was Venandi, came into sight first, a tied up Baroke hanging from his new binds in her maw. "Seems both subjects have been detained." Scorch said. Thero nodded. "Thank you for reporting them, Scorch" the king said. "Filthy spy!" Shaneya shouted on impulse. She was going to say more, but was silenced when her mother leapt down from Thero's shoulder and flew up swiftly. "Shenaya... how could you?"
May the RNG be forever in my favor oml I'll get the pinkerlocke set up later today, I have a few things to do before I can write it up. I'll also get a mate for Aegis. I'll exalt train the other three and get them exalted today too. @fenshae, @TruthandLies, @Karrikut, @Jaspernoir, @MysteryGyn Sorry for a double post/ping! I got the Pinkerlocke portion set up, and I'll begin trekking soon, most likely tomorrow. Here's the locke team, I'll be updating the front page with their info.
The Gemstone Ring met under the moonlight that night. Saphire had already ordered Shaneya and Baroke be locked up, but they needed to delegate on the evidence and punishment against the pair. "We must sentence them to death!" Frostbite, the coatl that represented the Ice flight in the clan, said. "They are responsible for three deaths, murders!" "Frostbite, you must have compassion!" Tenelle, Shaneya's sister said. "We can't just..." She trailed off. "You only say that because she's your sister!" Frostbite snarled. "You just can't let -" "SILENCE!" Saphire yelled, her voice loud for a fae. Frostbite went silent, and Tenelle looked away. "I cannot just sentence my own daughter to death!" "Perhaps we should decide their sentence based on the evidence against them?" Oceanspire, the clan healer, suggested. "The evidence doesn't mean anything, we can't trust who provided it!" Icefog, a wind wildclaw piped up. "If you can't trust my word," Scorch hissed "Then perhaps you can trust the bodies of the three young dragonesses that we came back with." Icegog growled and looked away as the court fell silent. Scorch snorted before speaking up. "Shaneya was the main culprit for this, therefore her punishment should be the worse of the two. Since that can't be death, then I say life imprisonment." Scorch said. "As for the boy, he was merely an accomplice, he had nothing to do with their deaths, other than egg Shaneya along to go through with her plans." "Then he should serve a punishment!" Frostbite responded. "And he will. I know nothing of the Baroke fellow, other than he was my daughter's mate, so I have no qualms of banishing him." Saphire said. "It may as well be a death sentence, because he isn't allowed back within our borders, unless he completes my challenge." "You'll forgive him if he completes your challenge? Blasphemy!" Frostbite spat. "What if he does? He'll just come back and cause more problems." "Hush, Frostbite. I know what I'm doing." ~~~~ Shaneya and Baroke were in cells next to one another, holding hands between the bars. "I'm sorry this happened...." Shaneya choked out. Baroked just stroked her hand. Suddenly, the door to the prison cracked open, a mirror standing in the doorway, Angmar. "Baroke's presence before the queen has been requested." The mirror said simply, approaching the cell. The mirror unlocked the cell and tied Baroke's hands before leading him out of the prison. Baroke looked back at Shaneya, looking her in the eye and mouthing "I love you." Shaneya grabbed the bars, pulling herself forward as far as she could, her eyes beginning to fill with tears. ~~~~ Baroke was thrown into the room with the Gemstone ring, the door closing behind him. Several dragons sat above him, looking at him with critical eyes. "Baroke." Saphire said. "We have decided you shall be banished from our lands." She said simply. Baroke looked at his feet before looking back up at the queen. "Will I ever see Shaneya again?" He asked. Saphire grinned. "If you can travel to each of the lands of Sorneith, find an artifact of each flight, and return with all of them to give to me, you will be allowed back to be with Shaneya." Saphire said. "But until then, it is forbidden for you to set foot anywhere near this clan." Baroke clenched his teeth, but he vowed to himself to do it. "What will happen to Shaneya?" He asked. "Don't worry about her, she'll be safely tucked away until your return," Saphire said. ~~~~ After this, Baroke found himself between Angmar and another dragon, a wildclaw, who were escorting him to the edge of the clan's territory. This dragon was purple and grey, and was dressed in white. However, he was dressed as a common thug, a theif almost. Angmar stopped at the edge of the territory, and opened a scroll. "By Decree of the queen, Baroke is to travel across the lands of Sorneith, collecting 11 artifacts, one of each flight. Baroke must return with each artifact, or be doomed to suffer exile for the rest of his life or until he does. Ferroalas has been appointed Baroke's guard to make sure Baroke completes this task before allowing him to return, and is authorized to do whatever is necessary to keep Baroke from returning before his sentance has been fulfilled." Angmar recited from the scroll before rolling it back up and handing it to Baroke. "Your sentance, sir." Baroke snorted and took the scroll, tucking it into his vest with a huff. With that, Angmar turned and left. "Well, beefcake, let's get going." Ferroalas said gruffly. Just as they turned to leave, they heard wailing behind them. "Wait! Wait for me!" A coatl yelled as she ran towards them. She huffed as she caught up. "Let me go with you!" She said. "This is the perfect opprotunity for me to gather the flora of each region and research it." Ferro rolled his eyes. "Crazy herbologists...." he mumbled. "If I say no will you end up following us anyways?" The coatl grinned. "Yes!" "Fine Lai..." The wildclaw snorted. "Come one, let's get going."
@fenshae, @TruthandLies, @Karrikut, @Jaspernoir, @MysteryGyn First day of pinkerlocke. Hoped it'd be more exciting but apparently not :/ Sorry for short post [item=emerald]
Baroke's POV It's my first night of my so-called sentence with my appointed guard and this random coatl that decided to follow us. I have no idea what to think of either of them. They seem to be polar opposites of one another, with the wildclaw being a total grump and the coatls seems to love everything. And here I am, serving some convoluted punishment and just wanting to be free yet again to see Sheneya and live my own life. I'm just poking the fire right now as these two sleep. I know it's dark, but it's not too badly late, we could be doing something! I should just sneak off on my own, but I doubt that'd get me anywhere. I hope my future isn't full of bore-some days with these fools, partaking in a wild goose chase. That seems to be my sort of luck.
Back at it after a *long* hiatus. And according to Pinkerlocke rules, and the fact that I have gotten heads, I have to to a death streak. I guess it's story time!
"Come on guys, get up" Baroke snarled, frustrated that neither of the dragon he was with bothered to even want to make any leeway or progress on their task. Lairaihia only wanted to collect plant samples while Ferroalas wanted to stay put at their camp. "Baroke, we go when I say we can go!" The wildclaw guard snapped at the overly-eager fugitive. "Fine! Stay here and rot in the sun all day!" Baroke snarled. "I don't need you!"And with that, the spiral bailed, hoping to get somewhere on his own rather than waiting for these worthless members of the Clan of the Lapidia. "Wait, you get back here!" Ferroalas roared, scrambling to his feet and sprinting after the spiral. Lairaihia was hot on their heels once she noticed the confusion. Baroke made no move to slow down, that was, until he ran face first into a hoard of monsters just at the border between the Starwood Strand and the Scarred Wasteland. The attack began with mutated, plagued mice, which were easy enough to strike down. The next wave had monsters just as weak, and it seemed like both Baroke and Ferro were fighting like berserkers. The dragons struck down waves of monsters easily, but also gained their own wounds as they fought. However, it was the when the 6th wave hit that it was apparent that the fighting was beginning to wear down on them. Baroke was bleeding from several wounds and began to slow in his fighting, often missing his targets. Ferro was also feeling the pain of battle, but just gritted his teeth and bared it. Lairaihia wouldn't take it though. She grabbed a potion from her bag, tossing it to Baroke as his health became critical. "Hurry up and drink it!" Lai ordered. She then used a potion on herself before also offering one to Ferro. With the team back with their heads in the game, they continued striking down monsters, their strength and wits being tested. They finally reached the last of the monsters, three Miths were lined up before them. However, they were easy to slay. The dragons finally had defeated the hoard, and bodies lay around them, staining the ground with various colors of blood. Baroke flopped onto the ground for a brief moment before the wildclaw guard was throttling him. "NEVER RUN OFF LIKE THAT AGAIN" The dragon roared. He was about to say more before Lairiahia opened her mouth. "Anyone up for brunch?!" She asked, smiling. Baroke and Ferro looked over, seeing her gathering up the various creatured they had slain.
Whew, that was stressful. I ended up using 7 potions in that chain and almost lost Baroke twice. However, they all survived! And they each reached level three, so I guess the next battles will be happening in the next area! Sorry for the long hiatus! Back at it after a *long* hiatus. And according to Pinkerlocke rules, and the fact that I have gotten heads, I have to to a death streak. I guess it's story time!

He goes running off on us and dang near gets us all killed! If it weren't for Lairaihia, the idiot would've died. Twice. Heck, I would've died too! I guess the crazy herbologist deserves more credit than I've given her.... Speaking of her, she's been set on making meals for us and drying the meat of the several creatures we killed in the fight. She says that the more supplies we have the better, but I'm not sure how we're supposed to carry all of it. Crazy dragoness has salvaged more than ten pounds of whatever came from those creatures. And to be frank, I'm not too keen on eating the meat from mutated... things... from the Scarred Wasteland. Meanwhile, the fugitive has done NOTHING but annoy me, whining about how we haven't made any progress ever since we dragged his wounded backside back to camp. It's only karma that he got the brunt of the attack. He deserved it. Still, it would've been a shame if he died. Even though I'd be relieved of this burdensome duty, the Queen didn't want him dead.
The next morning, Baroke woke and was quick to crack hi knuckles. He had healed pretty fast from the battle, thanks to his Plague flight. He saw that his two... companions were already awake. Instead of greeting them, he merely snorted. "Can we get a move on today? Finally?" He asked, stretching out each of his many limbs. Ferro merely looked at him, glaring. "Did you forget we have to collect an artifact from every region? We should stay here until we find something related to the Arcanist." Baroke rolled his eyes. "Why not get the Arcane artifact last? So you don't have as far to travel home when we're done?" He argued back. Lairaihai sighed. "I have to admit, I agree with Baroke. Not to mention, it might be the easiest to find. The venture home may not take that long." Baroke nodded, crossing his arms. Ferro growled, then looked at the sky. "Fine, hurry up and pack our things, we have to leave now if we want to have a camp in a different region by night" The wildclaw ordered, kicking out their camp fire and gathering some of their tools up. When the group was ready to go, Baroke looked into the Scarred Wasteland. He gulped. He didn't want to go back but he couldn't tell these comrades of his why. Instead, he took a deep breath. "You guys should let me lead, I know how to navigate the wasteland," The Spiral said. Lairaihia gave an eager nod, where as Ferro just grumbled a reluctant agreement. Baroke led them through the wasteland cautiously, hoping that no clan's guards would spot them. Or more importantly, him. The medallion around his neck clanged a constant reminder as to why he shouldn't be there. Their venturing went smoothly for a while after they crossed the border, but shortly afterwards the trouble started. Mutated creatures of the wasteland began attacking them, crazed out of their minds with the plague. Baroke grew wary with every battle, thinking that rather than being the random crazed creature, that they were instead agents out to capture him. The journey after the attacks began was in no way easy. Matter of fact, it started to get borderline impossible as Baroke kept leading the group deeper into the Scarred Wasteland, trying to reach the Abiding Boneyard. Creature after creature attacked them, trying to stop them in their journey. If it wasn't for Lai, they would've been in a terrible situation, but luckily she was healing wounds at any given moment when needed. Finally, the group made it to an old lair. It was small, big enough to fit the three dragons and their things, but very little more than that. It was once the home of a family, that was for sure, but something awful had happened. Many of the things the family had owned had been left, and a huge blood stain marred the outside of the lair. It looked as if someone had tried to paint something.... "We can stay here, there shouldn't be any issues..." Baroke said, rubbing his hand up one of the walls. "Fine. We should begin setting up camp then." Ferro said gruffly, beginning to unpack. "I hope Lai dried enough food to last us until we make it to Dragonhome. You better make this quick, I don't want to eat anything from this vile land." "No!" Baroke said suddenly. "Don't set up anything and don't unpack more than necessary. No one can know we're here." "But you just said there shouldn't be any issues?" Lai responded. "I know, I know, because I was never to return here. But if I'm discovered.... We could be done for." Baroke admitted. Ferro growled. "Done for? What do you mean?! Explain!" He demanded. "Let's just say the Plaguebringer herself wants me dead." Baroke snarled before turning around and disappearing into a room within the small lair.
