Foxwillow | ThunderClan | Rustfur, Raineye
She felt the fur at the base of her tail bristle at Rustfur's question.
"I had a bad dream. Not the kind a medicine cat has....much more bloody and gruesome than what I can assume they see." She spoke, giving her tail a light flick. She looked at Raineye.
"We can watch from our own borders. No need to spy or worry about going alone. Whoever Mothstar picked will decide patrols and how frequently. If he or she wants power, they will try to put Mothstar in more danger to accelerate the process. Maybe they'll lure a fox across territory lines, who knows." She spoke. She had never really trusted ShadowClan anyway, which made it interesting that her mate was a ShadowClan warrior.
What if Darksight is the murderer? Would he come after my kits? she thought.

Laurelhawk | ShadowClan Deputy | Whitewater
"I'm Laurelhawk," Laurelhawk introduced himself in reply, inclining his head in a brief display of courtesy. When he raised his head again, an unreadable light danced in the golden depths of his fiery amber eyes. "And we have a deal."
As much as Laurelhawk couldn't imagine warming up to Whitewater herself, he had to admit that the cheeky RiverClan had sense. Two pairs of eyes were better than one, and pooling intelligence gathered from both sides of the lake would no doubt boost their chances of uncovering the identity of the culprit.
Of course, they'd have work clandestinely. Although the clans had struck an uneasy peace for several moons, long-dormant tensions were erupting in the wake of Ratwhisker's murder. Pebblestar was already picking quarrels with Palestar and laying the blame on ShadowClan, and Mothstar didn't hesitate to deflect that onto RiverClan.
Not to mention that friendships or even alliances between cats of different clans had never been looked upon favorably. Even if the first rule of the warrior code allowed it, cats were always eager to pounce on relationships that transcended border lines as evidence of disloyalty. As deputy, Laurelhawk couldn't have his reputation tarnished. He'd have to act with utmost secrecy.
Of course, the benefits of this alliance vastly outweighed the costs. He could trade information with Whitewater, get closer to finding the murderer... and then it struck Laurelhawk that the information didn't have to be true. Fool her by giving her something credible enough and he'd be the one closer to finally unraveling the mystery, he'd be the one closer to saving the clans, he'd be the one lauded for moons and his heroic feats would be the ones chronicled in old elders' tales.
Laurelhawk gazed steadily at his silky white companion, a smile splitting his narrow muzzle. "I'll keep my eyes and ears open," he promised. "We'll need to meet regularly to trade news, of course... I don't think the Gathering's a good idea. Too many ears listening in. Perhaps a night before or after the medicine cats' Moonpool trip? Unless there's a more... strategic time?"
Pausing for a moment, Laurelhawk added, "Wherever and whenever we do get together again, I'll be sure to look up."

Dappleshade | Thunderclan Med Cat | Fellow Med Cats and Lionpaw
Dappleshade had no time to react as Ratwhisker had tried to warn them frantically before they fell out of the dreamscape where they were trapped in. When she woke up it was with a start as she saw the others waking up in similar fashion as Cidermoon had done. Her ears lied flat against her head as her crooked tail swished back and forth as she made sure everyone was okay she glanced at Lionpaw as she asked the others around the moonpool "What do.. we even make of this?" She asked more to herself than the others as she tried to calm her steady beating of her heart as it still raced from the fall of the dream- Prophecy? Was that even a prophecy or warning? She didn't know if she wanted to know the answer to this until she had time to think upon this fully.

Lionpaw | Thunderclan Medicine Cat Apprentice | Dappleshade, Medicine Cats
Lionpaw saw Cidermoon step forward and try to communicate with the wretched form of Ratwhisker, but it was as if he couldn't hear her... or he was too frightened to say anything else?
Fear was thrumming through the large tom's pelt. Everything here felt so wrong. His tufted ears flattened to his skull as the sound of frantic pawsteps reached him, and then the whole world seemed to tilt sickeningly. He scrabbled uselessly on the disappearing ground, and then tumbled into darkness.
Lionpaw awoke with a gasp, jolted from his sleep with a sickening feeling of vertigo. He scrambled to his feet, orange fur puffed out and making him appear even larger than he was.
"Dappleshade!" He squeaked, skittering over to her and leaning up against her side, fear apparent in his wide eyes. His heart felt like it was racing a mile a minute, and his chest heaved with unsteady breaths.
"Was that Starclan?" He asked fearfully, looking at his mentor, and seeing the same fear echoed back at him from her face.
He looked around at the other Medicine Cats, "What was Ratwhisker doing?! Why was he... like that?!"

Crystalgleam | Riverclan Medic| Frostbite
With her eyes semi open, crystal was passing her time staring at the lake waiting for her comrades to finally wake up from their dream. She wants to see what help starclan would be this time, probably another cryptic prophecy. During her waiting she suddenly noticed that the other cats were starting to shaking and twitching.
This caught her eyes and she lifted her head up looking at them, even Frostbite her apprentice was having the same behavior like a nightmare. She slowly padded over to him and tried to shake him awake. "Frostbite wake up!"she yelled.
It was then that Cidermoon the shadowclan medic woke up like a frighten rabbit, scrambling to get away from the pool and now the others jumped up aswell. Her ears twitched at Lionpaws frighten voice and mention of Ratwhisker.
The medicine cat put two and two together quickly, she had seen this behavior back in her lab days enough to recognize it. They all saw something awful that shook them and by how lionpaw mentioned the cat that had recently died, he was probably the source of it.

Jasminepaw | ShadowClan | Cidermoon, Med Squad
Jasminepaw stared at the ground beneath her little brown paws in horror. It darkened and two sides folded upward like a butterfly shutting its wings, and as the dark closed over her head, she began to run. Where she was going, she didn't know, but she just had to run, run, run-
She shot awake, fur bushed out to its fullest extent, and looked around, eyes wide.
"What was- What just-"
She swallowed, straightened, smoothed her fur, and steadied her voice. "Ahem. What was that?"
In spite of trying to appear put-together, in spite of attempting to convince herself that she was indifferent and clever and capable, Jasminepaw moved across the clearing with her head high and her paws shaking until she reached Cidermoon. She pressed herself against her mentor's warm fur, whether to comfort or be comforted, she wasn't sure, but she stayed put.
She took a deep breath.
"Okay. So, um. Dirty paws."
She looked around at the other medicine cats, hoping her mind wasn't too muddled to sort through this.
Whitewater | RiverClan | Laurelhawk
Whitewater grinned. She hadn't expected the ShadowClan tom- Laurelhawk- to agree so quickly, but she was glad of it. She liked playing verbal games as much as the next she-cat, but she liked being the one to instigate those.
"Fabulous," she purred, flowing a step closer.
She pricked her ears as he began making suggestions to arrange a steady meeting, and she nodded, excitement fizzling under her pelt. This was invigorating. Perhaps she should find informants in the other Clans too- not that she'd tell Laurelhawk that- so she could have an ear in each Clan. The chances of meeting another cat here was slim, though, and even less likely were they to take being tackled as patiently (relatively, of course) as Laurelhawk had done. She'd figure that out later.
"How about after the medicine cat meetings?" she suggested. "That way if they have anything of importance, we can incorporate that into whatever tidbits we've picked up around our Clans."
Whitewater was pulled from her musings as the lean, amber-eyed tom informed her that he would remember to look up next time, with a touch of wryness, she thought. Amusement sparked in her chest.
She grinned, but it faded a moment later as she wondered if she'd actually injured him. Eyeing his level stare and square stance, she decided nah, he's fine.
So she smirked and sassed playfully, "What, you think I'd spring the same surprise ambush twice? How can you think so little of me."
Her mismatched eyes gleamed impishly, even though she was teasing, before she indicated the island with a sweep of her long white tail. "I've searched the island both last night and tonight."
She threw him a mischievous sideways look and her silky tail rose like a banner. "Even the tree roots."

Briarwing / Windclan medicine cat / Med cats
Awaking with a gasp Briarwing was gasping for breath. Her ears were flicked back, and she felt like she had just woken up from a nightmare. After quiet breathing she had managed to calm herself down, and organize herself properly. Thoughts of Ratwhiser....and his appearance, along with his message had her shaken down to her core.
Flickering her head to face the other medicine Cats she spoke quietly, but audibly “W..what did Ratwhisker mean by Dirty Paws? Any Ideas on what that means?” The warning they had all been warned by Ratwhisker had this she-cat stumped as too what it could mean. She didn’t want to jump to conclusions, especially since ‘Dirty Paws’ could mean anything.

Shadepaw | Thunderclan | Rustfur, Raineye, Foxwillow
Shadepaw lifted her head from where it rested on her paws, glancing up at the moon. She'd better get back before someone noticed she was gone. Pulling herself up, she arched her back before gracefully jumping from branch to branch back down to the forest floor. She glanced around her surroundings, making sure she was alone, before quietly starting off back towards camp.
Shadepaw made her way back to camp as quietly as possible, taking care to avoid any twigs that could snap and alert the silent forest of her presence. As she got closer to camp, she lowered herself into a crouch, sneaking silently across the forest floor. Upon approaching the camp she hid herself in some bushes, noticing three figures sitting at the entrance to camp. Specifically Raineye, Foxwilliow, and Rustfur.
Mousedung, this is gonna be a lot harder than I originally anticipated.

Cidermoon | ShadowClan | The Medicine Cats
As the others awoke from their slumber, Cidermoon let out a shaking breath as she pressed a paw to her stomach before glancing around. Was anyone else hurt? What was that? She rapidly blinked and then glanced over towards her apprentice. Her ears lifted a bit and she moved quickly over to her. "Jasminepaw..." she started gently.
But her ears perked as she glanced towards Lionpaw and his mentor. There was a moment of silence before her ears lowered a little and she let out shaky breath. "No...no that couldn't have been...StarClan." but what would it be...? The sight of the oleanders and him being covered had to be a bad omen... if the warning he was shouting at them wasn't.
"Dirty paws." she echoed softly... and then shook her head slowly. "No. We gotta... gotta just head home." her gaze lifted to the others. "After all... we must report this to our leaders. The fact that it was all of us-" she glanced towards Crystalgleam and frowned, "-most of us... means that there is something horrible at play here."
But were any of the others hurt?
Cidermoon glanced around to each Medicine cat up, and she didn't see...anything that would suggest that anyone else there was. Why was it just her?
