Midnight | Shadow Clan | N/A Open

Slouching his back more to cower behind his mentor, Midnight refused to walk far ahead and chose staying in the back once more for this gathering but not for the same reason two seasons back. Then, he stuck to Waspclaw like a parasite, now, he just doesn’t want to be forced into an conversation. As such, he doubted if some cats even knew of his existent or at least his name, not that it’s of importance if they do or not. Knowing each other’s names would mean there’s currently some form of relationship, any form, between the two and if Midnight still doubts being Shadow Clan, then calling each other clanmates naturally is dubious to him as well.

Snorting unhappily when Waspclaw decided to tease him -once again- by moving out of the apprentice’s way and forward, he snickered when the mentor realized he didn’t follow like he would before. He knew at the end though it was the other trying to build his confidence and social skills; harder to follow and learn from though when he can see through it. Perhaps all parental figures tried to put teaching moments upon little everyday life events.

His idle musing was caught off track however, when the clan was stopped by cats gathering around … gathering around something. Or per say, someone, if the yelling his ears caught on is anything to say. Not bothered to push past Wind Clan and River Clan -they were often first, being the closest after all- he stayed behind to wait for any more news despite his curiosity hooked already.

Frostbite | River Clan | @/xxNeonblazexx Crystalgleam

He stayed behind his mentor, although it was hard to think of Crystalgleam in such a way at times, walking with light steps. Gatherings were exciting to say the least and his only chance to learn about what’s been occuring at the other clans! With the peace going on for such a while, it was less challenging to feel somewhat secure even with other clans around. Frostbite hoped it would last; everything was simply easier and better that way.

Sniffing the air out of habits, the apprentice stopped however when River Clan got closer and he can suddenly smell a scent. No… no. It smelled like blood. Moving a little to catch a glance while frowning, he can now see its a cat. Heavily wounded, no sign of life so far. He’d need to take a closer look to see who it is however, and dread was biting the back of his mind if it was someone he knew. Not rushing forward to wait for the River Clan medicine cat, the quiet cat shuddered a little and nudged Crystalgleam to let her know he wanted to see what's going on. Featherstar was ordering so too. There could be a chance that the cat’s still alive … Right?

Palestar | Wind Clan | Briarwing, Rockpool, Fawnheart, Featherstar, Wind Clan and others present

Walking firmly in the front of the parts of Wind Clan going to the gathering, he couldn’t help but set glances around and back every now and then. In all, if Palestar were to walk in the back, then his back is unprotected and vulnerable. If he were in the front, then he’s simply has to trust his clan. The choice may be simple for some but then again, he's never been “some” cat has he?

Nevertheless he doubts anyone's shocked at his behavior, it wasn't his first moons as leader after all. Thoughts occupied his head nevertheless as he walked the not overly long journey to the island. It wasn't long before it was over, but a scent that didn’t belong squirreled it's way to his nose and the leader scowled. Well, so much for peace, he thought as his eyes caught side of a limp body. Body of a cat.

“Beartuft, don't go rushing forward! Briarwing and your apprentice, take a look. Fawnheart, come here. Rest of you all! Don't block the paths.” Ordering swiftly without pause, he glanced at Featherstar when she gave a similar order. He didn't like to be ordered around but that was for himself only to chew on. The body looked familiar although he'd taken a quick scan over the crowd to know it wasn't anyone he knew personally.

The body clearly wasn't the leaders, Cidermoon was right there and so are the other med cats excluding thunderclan but the body isn't Dappleshade or her apprentice. Deputies… deputies. “Someone help me get the body up and take a closer look. I doubt they’re still breathing with their head still in water and such wounds.”

Diamondback | Shadow Clan | @/xxneonblazexx Adderpaw

Despite not being super eager to interact with the other clans— not really anyways— Diamondback walked with a tall proud stride expecting this to go as usual. The clans would discuss business, she’d do some socialization and act like it was a great time. Would it actually be fun? Well that just depends on who she talked to really, maybe Ratwhisker had learned something that was actually interesting, but otherwise gatherings were boring with the everlasting peace.

Another cat would argue it was a good thing, she isn’t niave enough to think it would last.

That was the exact reason she sought to teach Adderpaw everything she knew. Sure Adder wasn’t quite the same as she was when she was young, but the younger cat held the potential for sure. So she would teach her just as she had been taught— a bit rough for sure— and parade the apprentice around like her pride and joy. Which she did, and was currently doing with her tall stride with glances back to make sure the apprentice was following at least somewhat. She’d never admit it aloud, but even if the apprentice didn’t end up like her... well, she turned out to be cute not to love.

Her expectance for a boring gathering ended quickly with shouting and Cider running forward. Being the social butterfly of the clan, she was curious but knew there would be no way to get through the other clans to see without picking a fight.

Question was, would it be worth it?

Hawkeye | Wind Clan | @/TeddyBears Beartuff

The brown tom tried to shove past his clan members, fairly successful considering he wasn’t exactly a little cat. Being one of the earlier arrivals was always fun, and yet somehow he always managed to be one of the late ones amongst the clan. He was eager to go join Beartuff wherever she’d gone earlier on, definitely towards the front of the clan considering he’d shoved past most the clan already.

It seemed like it was just going to be another game of ‘catch up to Bear’ as per every gathering anymore, but then he heard her voice break over the others and it almost made him hiss in alarm. He picked up the pace, dashing past the other cats and ignoring what the leaders had called in favour of getting to Beartuff. Upon seeing the cat floating in the water, he ignore the pungent scent of blood and death— that cat had been there for a little while at least— and went over to Beartuff.

He nudged her slightly as a way to attempt at some slight comfort considering there was a dead cat floating right in front of them all.

Crowfeather | River Clan | @/Cats bear the body

The warrior lumbered behind the rest, an easy stride as he nudged one of the apprentices forward in a gentle ‘keep walking’ sort of motion. He swat the back of their legs with a joking swat which only made the younger cat laugh and speed up. With the river clan cats seeming fairly relaxed, he just continued the smooth slow passing behind the majority of the clan.

Upon hearing yelling— and Featherstar distinctly telling the warriors to get back— his ears flicked and posture straightening. His ears pinned back and bounded past the other cats to the river’s edge, even going past the med cats nd the leaders.

“Call for a medic an leave ‘em in the water, that’d work.” It was more of a grumble to himself, padding into the water and grabbing the obviously dead cat by the scruff of their neck. Granted, there was no telling who the cat was or if they had any diseases or such, so it probably was safer to leave them but it wouldn’t do much help. Seemed like they need a river cat to grab it anyways, no need to risk a leader’s life, even if they did have multiple.

Of course maybe he also had a death wish. Just slightly.

He dropped the cat out of the water and flicked his ears again, tail swishing slightly at examining the body. Distinctive wounds, “Whoever they are, they’re dead. Anyone recognize the body?”

Cloudsong | Thunder Clan | Open

The elder cat limped behind the other cats, stopping on occasion to let others pass to avoid him slowing them down. The day had started off alright, waking up to his leg pinching with pain that wasn’t as bad as it could have been by any means.

There had been peace amongst the clans for a while, so hopefully things would hold, but he’d been determined to go to the gathering despite the pain given that he had a poor feeling... about what exactly he couldn’t pin point. Lucky for him, he’d managed to convince the leader he was well enough to go.

The screaming came with the scent of blood and wet cat, making his ears flatten and pick up the pace as much as he actually could. Seeing the cats part for the medics, deputies, and leaders, he made note that Ratwhisker was not one of the cats to come through.

Not wanting to be much of a bother, he'd managed to hoist himself up onto a small outcropping— probably a poor idea when his leg protested— to get a look. The cat had just been pulled out of the water, a mass which was obviously wounded quite greatly. He sat down on the place he’d gotten up to, poor feeling from before only amplifying to comedy’s dread in realization. The cat that had been pulled— second by his count— wasn’t a rogue or loner no one knew or possibly no one cared for, it was a clan cat. More specifically and even more grim, it was a deputy.

It was Ratwhisker.

Rookberry|riverclan deputy|silverstar, hailcloud

Rookberry slowly crept towards the body, flicking his tail for Hailcloud to follow. He was quick and quiet as he approached it. The scent. it was disgusting. His nose wrinkled, but he continued on. He watched Crowfeather pull the body out of the water and started to hurry. It seemed the other tom couldn't identify the cat. Once he reached the body, he stepped back with a look of horror. "Crowfeather, that's Ratwhisker."

He gently grabbed the cats scruff and pulled Ratwhisker a bit further away from the water. "I think he's already dead. There's nothing we could do for him." His golden eyes shifted to the shadowclan cats, and he gave the clan room to approach the body. With a quick movement, he swung around and stared into the trees with a watchful eye, hoping to spot the killer.

Lionpaw|thunderclan med apprentice|dappleshade

Lionpaw slowly approached the body, stepping ahead of his mentor. he sniffed the air, smelling the scent. "it's dead." His paws shook as he padded forwards, and he spotted the body. With a yelp of horror, he whirled around and hid behind his mentor, trembling. "I don't want to look at the body..."

Lilypaw | Apprentice | Riverclan | Interaction Open:

The small she-cat thought the gathering was supposed to be a great experience! Now all cats were huddled around something. She didn't know what it was till she heard the words 'dead body.' "Wait! Really?" The young apprentices mouth gaped in awe more than horror. She crawled forward, trying to get a glimpse of the dead cat. "Hey! I wanna see!" She squeaked, trying to squeeze through cats.

Crystalgleam| Riverclan Medic | Frostbite, Featherstar, Crowfeather, Lionpaw

Crystalgleam had been silent the whole trip to the gathering occasionally yawning, she had been wondering if the rest of the other clans had gotten any information about that suspicious killer. It annoyed her that they had thrown the cat into the river. Could cats please stop throwing corpses into the source of drinking and hunting. She scoffed, she glanced over her back to see her Apprentice still behind and sighed.

It was then she heard it, a dead cat in the river. Again!? She growled taking now speed to head towards the source of this commotion. Featherstar arrived signaling two Crowfeather to get the body begrudgingly.

She waited and after Frostbite nudged her she decided to approach the body, it was clear that cat was dead. She put a paw on the cat's neck examining the wounds they had gotten.

"Yep like Crowfeather said, that cat is dead, the body is freezing meaning it had been floating for a while and looking at the wounds they got it looks like a harsh battle who ever got them. That wasn't an easy fight, i can't tell you who it is though. Not like i pay attention to other clans cats, but i smell pine trees on them. Maybe Shadowclan?" she asked around.

"Crowfeather to be save wash your mouth a bit further down the river or look for a source of water, i don't want anyone sick here".

She then saw Thunderclan med apprentice yelling at the body and she twitched her tail "If you can't stomach the sight of death why did you become a medicine cat in the first place". //How pathetic //she thought

Adderpaw| Shadowclan Apprentice |Diamondback, Lilypaw

It's been a few moons since Adderpaw had joined Shadowclan, albeit at first he was in their paws for saving him on the other he was a bit annoyed that he couldn't go out to search for his own family, then again it would be a stupid idea he had no idea where they were and he was simply to young to go and fight against whatever enemies would come. He had decided to stay and got the name Adderpaw, he still didn't quite get it the whole name change, but he also got a mentor out of this.

Diamondback seemed to be a prideful cat, but he didn't mind it. If he could find someone to trust besides that other apprentice from the other clan he would follow them. This time though the mood has been slightly down, cases of a cat being murdered gave him chills. Who would do that and why?

He followed his mentor and came to a stop when she did, looking around she saw a bunch of cats circling around."What's going on over there? That isn't the usual gathering spot, right?"he looked up. He then heard the awful words a dead body. Oh no.

Rabbitpaw| Windclan Apprentice | Lilypaw

Rabbitpaw was probably the only one happy going to a gathering, where several other cats were groaning or just bored, she was exited. Seeing all the other cats and talking to them made her happy and she hoped to find the other apprentices, even the rumors of a dead cat couldn't keep her excitement in check.

Upon there she waited for the other clans to arrive and finally spotted a familiar face, Adderpaw. He wasn't too far, but he was starring in slight shock at the shore. What was his problem, she was about to head his way when a riverclan apprentice run past hear saying she wanted to see it. A dead body? Holly. "ME TOO"she yelled following the riverclan cat and trying to squeeze in. "Where is it i can't see"

Fawnheart | windclan deputy | Palestar, Wildberry, Beartuft, open to interaction

She slid into stride behind her leader, as she always did. He should know by now that he didn't need to order her around- that she would always have his back. But he was always one to be prepared. The journey to the gathering place was as usual- filled with apprentices whining about how their paws hurt or rushing off in excitement while their mentors just to wrangle them back in line.

In all honesty she found the gatherings to be very boring- the leaders would bicker amongst themselves for a little while and then we'd all leave without having really changed anything. Well, that's what she was expecting to happen. However those expectations fell short when the putrid smell of a dead body hit her nostrils. She rushes over with Palestar to see a throng of cats gathering around the body, "I think that's the deputy for shadowclan..." She remembered them from previous gatherings. "Wildberry, Beartuft keep a close eye on the apprentices, they don't need to see this." Not yet anyways.

Briarwing/Windclan medicine cat/Rockpool, Fawnheart, Featherstar, rest of cats that are present

Briarwing immediately pushed her way to the front of the crowd surrounding the body. Her eyes widened at the sight of the limp body covered with wounds. “The poor cat” she mummered as she peered close at the wounds, “the wounds don’t seem to be fresh, so that means the scuffle happened long before we arrived.” The she-cat’s ears flicked back as she gazed at the body “The cat who did this may be gone, or may of covered their tracks right after killing him” she muttered to herself.

Pinedapple/ Riverclan warrior/ N/A open

Pinedapple had been talking to a few of his clan mates when he saw different clans clustered around something. When he got closer he heard snippets of cats talking about a body being found in the river. ‘I wonder who was found’ he pondered silently as he went closer to the small crowd of cats. He tried to get a good look at the body of the cat they had found, but couldn’t get a good enough look only flashes of the fur. ‘It’ll probably be announced at the gathering’ he thought to himself ‘Everyone will find out sooner or later”.

Hailcloud | RiverClan Warrior | @/everyone near the body

The odd-eyed warrior flattened his ears as he caught wind of the smell of death. It was horrible— a reason unknown, the potential peace between the clans shattered, and ultimately; a life lost. Grimacing to himself as his eyes shown worry, Hailcloud reluctantly nodded to Rookberry as he hastily followed behind, giving the deceased cat a quick sniff before he’d follow the Deputy’s movements of backing away, murmuring a hushed, “May you rest peacefully in StarClan” under his breath.

Hailcloud took a glance around the surrounding terrain, the white fur on his spine raising slightly as he took into consideration that the killer could be anywhere or even anyone. There were many cats around the forest, and only one was responsible. Still, he stood in a respectful silence, but not without wondering who had committed such a heinous crime.

DappleShade| Thunderclan Medicine Cat | Lionpaw, CrystalGleam(?)

The she cat had at the time before the body was discovered followed her usually timid apprentice as he dashed ahead of her she saw how the young tom was excited for the event that was until they reached the clearing where she saw many cats surrounding something she could not see before she could tell lionpaw to get back so she could see he sniffed the air and then saying the words along the lines of 'something dead' he whirls back to hide his quivering fluffy form behind her. As for her thoughts there were too many cats in the way to see as someone was already checking the body she decided it was best to calm lionpaw She thought she heard the same medicine cat who was tending to the injured cat say some harsh words his direction her ears lied back in slight anger. Regardless she spoke to him looking back "It's okay Lionpaw it was surprising to see an injured cat at the gathering but as a medicine cat we sometimes have to tend to the dead so they could take their safe journey to Starclan.. Can you tell me what was going on or could you not see the cat who was injured?" She asked not exactly sure if the cat was dead or not, but she wanted him to distract himself by talking to her in case the she cat's words got to him.. he had it rough already from kin now wasn't the time for such matters.
