Eaglebrook | Riverclan Warrior | Lilypaw, Featherstar (mention), Pinedapple (mention)

Eaglebrook watched Lilypaw dart off into the throng of cats, and she flicked her ears back in concern. The smell of Ratwhisker's blood was still in the forefront of her mind, and she was somewhat on edge after the events of the Gathering. Around her, Riverclan cats were beginning to move off towards the exit from the clearing.

Suddenly, the tabby-and-white cat was back again, pelt beginning to drip from the rain. She sneezed.

"Okay," Eaglebrook smiled, moving to the apprentice's side and nudging her forward after the departing cats, "we need to get going now."

As they walked, joining the tail-end of the Riverclan Warriors, Lilypaw began a series of rapid-fire questions. Eaglebrook summoned her patience and answered as best she could.

"I don't think it will flood," she glanced at the cloud-dark sky, seeing the rain falling harder and harder, "even if we get a lot of rain. We're far away enough from the lake, and the river hasn't broken its banks ever as far as I can remember..."

She pressed herself against Lilypaw as the apprentice trembled, remembering that Lilypaw was barely past kithood. The events of tonight were bound to bring up some fears in the young cat's mind.

"No matter what happens, Lilypaw, Riverclan will always look after you. It's important to remember that."

The entrance to the camp came into view, and Eaglebrook put a bit more speed into her pace, catching up to the Warriors closer to the front. Ahead, she saw the silver pelt of Featherstar, and the distinctive white of Whitewater's. Featherstar made her way to the log which served as her den and leapt atop it. Eaglebrook dutifully came to sit at the base of the log, nudging Lilypaw along and indicating she sit next to her. The grey-white she-cat curled her bushy tail about her paws.

"When we arrived at the gathering tonight, we found Shadowclan''s deputy, Ratwhisker, dead of an apparent murder. As a result, I've asked that all cats leave camp with an escort. I will not have one cat of mine die due to foolishness."

Though she had already heard of this during the Gathering, Eaglebrook nodded in acknowledgement, looking about at the cats who had not joined them tonight. How would they take the news? She saw the nervousness in Fawnspots' eyes, and the surprise in several others'.

As the Warriors and apprentices began to disperse, many of them muttering in hushed tones to one another, Eaglebrook turned to Lilypaw and licked a drop of rain from the tip of the young cat's ear.

"Go to bed, now, Lilypaw," she said, "you will need your rest for tomorrow. Extra patrols will mean a lot more work for us all. And..." She paused awkwardly for a moment, unsure how to say this.

"And please stay safe. I would be devastated if anything happened to you."

With that, the diluted tortie nudged her apprentice affectionately, and set off towards the Warrior's den.

Around her were the nests of several Warriors, many of them already filled. She saw the shape of Pinedapple curled up and probably fast asleep. The rain pattered down outside, joining the burbling of the nearby stream in a familiar chorus.

'Lets hope things become a bit more clear in the morning...'

She settled down in her nest, lined with soft moss and down she'd plucked from a dove she'd caught a moon ago. Under the woven and mud-packed roof, it was dry and warm. Eaglebrook curled her tail across her nose and drifted off to sleep.

Thicketskip | Thunderclan Deputy | Rustfur, Shadepaw, Mountainwing, Pebblestar and NPCS

Thicketskip's head suddenly fell forward. He jerked upwards, shaking his head, his eyes drooping. His fur was ruffled and his eyes were dull. He had spent the entire night keeping his eyes on the entrance of the camp, a few times leaving to go make dirt, but otherwise, his eyes had been locked on the the entrance. He sighed, the sun was rising above the trees. His mind was whirling and he felt a stone drop in his stomach. I need to start patrols, and make sure they're reinforced.

The brown tom saw a few warriors making their way over to him. "Okay, the killer is still out there, which means I'm going to be bumping up patrols, and making them safer. "Rustfur, take Shadepaw, Quietstep, and Ironclaw, and Berrypad. Patrol the borders, and then come back, I want a full report." He watched them take their leave before turning to the others. "Mountainwing, take Marigoldpaw, Honeysong, Liontail, and Reedstalk and go hunt. Keep close to eachother, I don't want someone to get hurt. Off you go!" He nodded them off before padding towards the leaders den. He called softly to Pebblestar. "I've set off the patrols, I added to them. I sent one on a border patrol and the others to hunt."

Whitewater | RiverClan | Open

The moon was silvering the top of the warriors' den when Whitewater's eyes opened, one mint-green and the other pale blue. Purpose and excitement and adrenaline filled her veins like carbonation, and for a moment she sat there, ears pricked and paws tucked under her belly.
And then she was up, winding her stealthy way through mounds of sleeping Clanmates, and out into the clearing where the air was crisp and full of promise. Her pulse pounded in answer.
Whitewater darted silently for her secret exit through the dirtplace (which was disgusting, but sacrifices had to made), past the long grasses, past the gnarled shrubs, over the leaf-litter, and cleared streams that glittered like gray snakes. When she judged that she was far enough from her camp, she broke into a run, a white ghost gilded with moonlight.

She slowed when she neared the island, her ears pointed upward and swiveling to catch the slightest note of sound. She would prefer to do the ambushing, and the thought and the thrill made her smirk.
Whitewater slipped down the bank, shirking the log bridging her territory and the island, and instead struck out strongly for the opposite shore. She hauled herself out on the other side, droplets clinging to her white pelt like liquid starlight, and she didn't bother to shake herself as she parted her jaws in search of the crime scene.
She found it soon enough, where a bloody spot beside the creek marked where Ratwhisker had rested. She bent her head and inhaled deeply, but couldn't disentangle anything substantial. The water must have washed away anything useful.

Whitewater followed the line of the river with her eyes, wondering what was going through the murderer's head. He, or she, was obviously smart, if they had placed the deputy in the water to wash away the clues.
She swept her eyes around, hoping for them to snag on something telltale, and disappointed when nothing popped out at her. Whitewater examined the ground around the impression the body had made and scanned the clearing, all the while telling herself that no one was slick enough to leave nothing behind.
She was quickly left behind in a spiral of frustration.
She turned her eyes towards the expanse of stars that was beginning to lighten to the east (which Whitewater was uncomfortably aware meant she had to return soon, or risk her mother's wrath) and scowled, before turning back to the task at hand, a new urgency to her work.
In the end, she was a disgruntled she-cat with a lashing white tail and eyes sparking with every chaotic thing rushing through her. She was fully aware she had to think outside of the box, but she didn't know in what way that she hadn't already tried, and annoyance licked her insides like flames with the knowledge that this stranger had gotten the best of her. It made her want to catch the fox-dung all the more, the fact that he'd beaten her hardening her resolve. But her time had run out.
Reluctantly, she returned to RiverClan and slumped in her nest, miraculously evading the detection of the guard, her determination nowhere near dissolved.

Featherstar | RiverClan Leader | Whitewater (mention), Firestripe (NPC), Rookberry

The sun creeped into the log, waking Featherstar from her slumber. She blinked her blue eyes open, the first thing she saw was the sun shining on her mates fiery red pelt. Letting out a purr, she nuzzled him awake. The tom shifted in his sleep, and slowly blinked his green eyes open.
"Morning my sweet." he purred.
"Good morning" Featherstar purred, and without missing a beat, the two began to share tongues.

They shared tongues, until Firestripe stopped. Featherstar stopped as well, and looked at her mate.
"What is it?" she asked, and Firestripe looked at her belly.
"Why is your fur red?" he asked, and suddenly Featherstar remembered the squelch she felt as she laid down last night. She stood, and took a look at her silvery pelt, only to see a bright red stain on it. Featherstar looked at Firestripe.
"Your youngest daughter decided it would be funny to put berries in my nest I would guess." she said, and stalked out of her den. Leaping up onto the Great Tree, she watched Rookberry delegate morning patrols.
"Rookberry." she called, and the tom turned to her.
"Please bring me Whitewater, and find an apprentice to change my bedding." she spoke again, trying to mask the anger in her voice with a cheery attitude.

Appleshine | WindClan Deputy | Dustjump, Wildberry (NPC), Runningwind (NPC), Foxtail (NPC)

Dawn awoke Appleshine from her slumber, sunlight peeking over her fluffy tabby tail. She stood, and took a few steps to the center of camp before shaking the dew off her fur. Turning, Appleshine gently nudged awake Dustjump, Wildberry, Runningwind, and Foxtail.
"I'm sending you four on dawn patrol. I would like a full report when you come back, and take extra care around the ThunderClan borders." she said, and went to the fresh-kill pile. Selecting a rabbit, she took it and sat underneath the Tallrock, enjoying her breakfast while waiting for the other cats to awaken.

Cidermoon | ShadowClan | Jasminepaw, Mothstar

Cidermoon was waking up from her nest as she glanced outside to see that the Elders, otherwise known as her parents, were taking the body of Ratwhisker to be buried while Smallfox ushered the already half asleep kits to the nursery. She was sure there was going to be no shennigans from them today. Considering the circumstances, though, she almost wished they would perk up and try to eat some of her catmint... just so she knew they were okay and bubbly like kits should be.

The female sighed softly, glancing around the clearing before seeing that Mothstar was up. Her brows lifted a bit, and she supposed she should talk to the leader with the plans to go to Moonpool. But first...she had an apprentice to wake up.

The she-cat turned and moved towards the laying form of Jasminepaw. Prodding her back with her paw a little less than nicely, she smirked and moved towards the herb shelf. "We need to stalk up on some more cobwebs and chamomile... perhaps some daisy leaves too.." she murmured, humming as she looked over their traveling herbs before over her shoulder at her apprentice. "We have another long day today before we head to Moonpool for an equally long night. I hope you're ready."

Mothstar | ShadowClan | Open

Mothstar wasn't in the mood, sulking to herself for a moment or two before flicking her ear awkwardly and turning towards the enterence. She got up and moved out of her den, looking around to see if she could find her new deputy. Her tail flicked over her paws after a moment of glancing around..and she then sighed and got up to walk around the camp....lost in thought.

Beartuft | WindClan | Open

Beartuft gave a huff as she rolled over in her nest, sleeping near her brother after the stressed of the Gathering. But as she slept, the female was awakened by Appleshine's voice. She woke up and watched as she tried to wake up Dustjump and the other cats, and they were getting up by the time she was. Her tail slumped a little as she padded forwards out of the den and gave a loud yawn. "Aaa.... I really could use more sleep." she murmured to herself before sitting beside the warrior den and licking the wrist of her paw before bringing up over her face to groom herself.

Rabbitpaw| Windclan Apprentice| Open

Rabbitpaw was one of the first to be up, still with full energy of last night. Heading outside, she could see the sun rise up giving this nice red view of the land. Her stumpy tail wriggling, she couldn't contain herself and decided to stretch her legs by sprinting across the prairie.

Jumping around like a lunatic and trying to catch the butterflies that were woken up by her.

Crystalgleam | Riverclan Medic| mention:whitewater, Frostbite

During the night, Crystalgleam had been half awaken, contemplating about the events of the gathering. When she suddenly heard quiet pawsteps, at this time everyone had gone to bed so who was the one up?. She slowly open up one of her eyes, staying silently in place and observed whitewater sneaking out towards the dirtplace.

The medicine cat grinned, someone was being sneaky. She doubt that the she-cat was just going to take a dump. Why would she sneak around instead of just casually walking over? In the end she could care less, someone was being just curious and the she cat hadn't been on the gathering.

Crystal just went back to sleep and woke up again at the first rays of the sun. Stretching her body she entered her den, Frostbite was still sleeping in his nest and she decided to look at the current stock of herbs. She would need more spiderwebs, if that killer was out there.

For the time being she just waited for Featherstar to call them.

Adderpaw| Shadowclan Apprentice| Frogpaw and Midnight

Adderpaw yawned, he could her the steps of his clanmates starting to walk around the camp, it was probably time to get up and start the morning patrol. He looked around to see his denmates still asleep at least that's what he though.

"Frogpaw, Midnight are you two awake?" he whispered not wanting to wake them up if they were still sleeping

Eaglebrook | Riverclan Warrior | Crystalgleam (mention), Featherstar (mention), Rookberry

Eaglebrook woke to the familiar sounds of the camp beginning to wake. It felt like every other morning. She yawned widely, pink tongue curling from her mouth, her breath misting the air, and stretched in a luxurious arc.

The grey-white Warrior stood, blinking, then paused. The memories of the previous night flooded back to her, instantly banishing any thoughts of a peaceful morning. Eaglebrook shuddered, a pit of worry forming in her stomach. Ratwhisker was dead; the Clans were in turmoil and the murderer was potentially still on the loose.

Her amber-gold eyes moved to the Medicine Cat den, where she could see the white-and-silver flash of Crystalgleam's pelt in the morning light, ducking inside the den. Eaglebrook wondered if the Medicine Cats would discover any clues once they had shared tongues with Starclan tonight. She hoped so.

Shaking out her pelt, she wove her way lithely through the sleeping forms of fellow Warriors, exiting into the open space beyond the den. Sandy soil crunched between her toes as she walked; a feeling she relished as she trotted towards the Great Tree, where she could see Featherstar giving orders to her deputy.

She waited dutifully for her Leader to finish her instructions before she inclined her head in respect to her and spoke to Rookberry.

“If you are forming your patrols,” she began, her fluffy tail held high at a determined angle, “I would like to request to join as many as I can. I want to make sure that...” Eaglebrook once again couldn't face airing the word, like it was some sort of curse, “... horrible cat will never have a chance to harm a single hair on my Clanmate's pelts!”

Diamondback | ShadowClan Warrior | Mentions Adderpaw

Diamondback awoke with a slight start, lifting her head off of her paws and looking around. Nothing seemed to be wrong, she could hear the camp waking up waking up. She could only guess it was just the nerves from yesterday— not exactly called by the ceremony for the new deputy.

Laurelhawk? Really?

The cat had acted like he himself was dying upon seeing Ratwhisker’s body. Mothstar herself was obviously shook, so any good deputy would have to be level headed and reasonable in a time their leader could not. What good was a clan where the deputy and leader acted on emotional impulses at the same time towards the same things, and couldn’t help keep one another in check? At least Cidermoon would probably help keep that balanced...

Still, she shook off the thought. Mothstar had to have her reason! She was just doing what she thought was best for the clan— which was apparently appointing Laurel. What if the other leaders saw that as weakness though? An opening to attack— if they recalled the way Laurel and Moth both reacted... well she had no doubt Palestar would exploit it.

No. Mothstar has done it for a reason. She only wanted what was best for Shadowclan.... right?

Diamondback felt her ears flatten slightly, looking over at some of the other sleeping warriors before getting up and padding outside the den. She made her way around the camp, not feeling like eating, and just opted to watch the other cats. Adderpaw could be left to wake up on his own, today was stressful but she had little doubt that the apprentice wouldn’t be up on time.

Seeing Mothstar pacing around he camp, her ears twitched again, but refrained from actually flattening or showing any signs of stress. There was.a bad feeling hanging in the air, whether it was the lasting grief from Ratwhisker or something worse that might befall the clan... well, only time would tell.

Crowfeather | RiverClan Warrior | Featherstar

The Warrior flicked his tail, laying awake in the warriors den. He’d only slept an hour or two maybe, stress keeping him awake all night and wondering what exactly had happened. Only to make things worse, Featherstar had never answered his quary about Raven, so aside from patrols he figured he should at least get the curiosity satisfied. Oh, and he should check up on Reddpaw to see if his apprentice was doing any better.

Getting up and padding out, he completely skipped over anything else and started to pad towards where Featherstar had stationed herself. Sitting in front of her with some lacking grace, he nodded to her slightly as a show of respect, but wasn’t about to stop from asking his inquiry again, “Morning Featherstar. You never answered my question last night about Raven.” He took a moment to scratch his neck, tail twitching again at saying the words.

Cloudsong | ThunderClan | Foxwillow, Heronkit, Frostkit, Moonkit

Yesterday had been dreary, and enough to put any sane cat on edge. Or maybe even a not so sane one, depending on if the murderer was there and if their motives were not of sound mind. Everyone around camp seemed so on edge, which was reasonable in keeping your guard up, but not so kind when you have it up so far that you start spitting unwarranted blame towards others. ShadowClan— or any really— didn’t deserve to be prosecuted. There was nothing to go off of, but of course Pebblestar hadn’t cared and was ready to fight anyways.

If there was anything he’d learned as a warrior, it was that blame was stupid and pointless. Hiss and spit all you want in thinking you would protect your clan, but in the end if everyone started to do it, then a lot of cats would die when the tension snapped. Killing each other when they had a common foe, he couldn’t say it was odd amongst the clans. Sadly it seemed all too common.

In the wake of such depressing subjects though, were three little kits at the camp. In an effort to brighten the day, and possibly even calm his nerves a bit considering his leg wasn’t very happy with him at the moment, he made the decision to visit Foxwillow and her kits.

Couldosng peeked into the nursery, but made sure to be quiet in case the she-cat and kits were still asleep. If so, he could always find something else to do for the day or even just until they did wake up.
