I have been meaning for a long time to work on lore for my clan and dragons, and make pretty bios for them. I recently came across a Biolocke and decided to casually do one to help motivate me! My ultimate goal is for every long-term resident dragon to have a fully coded bio including a profile, lore snippet, and outfit. Rules and formatting for this post is heavily borrowed from FirozTaverbi's BioLocke. I also have looked at and taken inspiration from taniquetil's and Riesenraddieb's biolockes.
Rules
The rules are tangentially related to the classic Pinkerlocke: each daily item pulled from Pinkerton's Plundered Pile dictates which action is done that day. I will not be doing this every single day due to my schedule. I will be trying to do this every day I am not running around like a headless chicken though.
The dragon to work on will be determined by die roll. I have 4 groups, I will roll 1d4 first to decide which group I will be rolling for before rolling an appropriate sized die for that group.
1 - Frozen Council (roll 1d8)
2 - Residents (roll 1d6 and 1d10 for column and row)
3- Stock the Pond (roll 1d10 - missing mates for 2 currently)
4 - Legacy of War (roll 1d8)
If I roll a number that does not correspond to a dragon, I will work on Clan Lore instead (currently applicable only to Residents and Stock the Pond)
Before completing that day's task, I will evaluate if the rolled dragon will be purged or not - I've been feeling like I should probably purge some members of my lair but have been unable to commit to actually making those decisions. Maybe looking at it one random dragon at a time will be less daunting.
If that day's task has already been completed for the rolled dragon to my satisfaction, I will re-roll. If I decide to purge the rolled dragon, I will re-roll.
Exclusions: Fodder dragons and dragons for my Ponies breeding project will automatically be excluded. Completed Ponies project dragons will not be excluded if I ever get any done (colors, breed, gender and any genes I cannot reasonably afford to buy the scrolls for.)
The following key will be used for progress:
- Section not started
- Section in progress
- Section complete

Food - Profile
This is the dragon's "fact sheet" - basic information about them. This can be prose or a sidebar, whatever works. The type of food determines the information added to the profile:
- Three words or a short quote to describe dragon's personality
- Describe the dragon's role in the clan
- One strength, one weakness
- Favourite item(s) or hobbies
If a dragon has no name, naming the dragon takes precedence.
Material or Trinket - Lore
This is a section of prose either telling the dragon's backstory or a short story about their daily lives. The rarity of the trinket item determines the minimum number of words that must be written:
- 50 words

- 100 words

to
- 250 words
Familiar - Relationships
Familiars means bonds and bonds form a clan!
Pulling a familiar from Pinkerton means describing the relationship with another dragon - goal is to have at least 3 defined relationships per dragon.
Apparel - Outfit or Genes
Plan an outfit or gene plan for a dragon, or add a new gene or apparel piece to a dragon with an outfit or gene plan. For Ancient breeds this will include skins.
Battle Item - BBCoding
Work on a dragon's bio template/formatting. Can code from scratch or use a pre-made template. I do not have to finish it, just make some progress.
Crim Rule
If I have time and energy I can do additional tasks by using items requested at Crim's Collection Cart, using the same rules for each item listed above. Trading an item with Crim allows me to skip that item.
Writer’s Block Rule
To prevent stalled progress do to writer’s block, if I draw a material or trinket item and experience writer’s block for completing a more blurb for the rolled dragon I may do an alternative task as follows.
The rolled dragon must have 2 or more remaining food draw tasks to complete.
Based on the item rarity I can choose to do the following instead:
- 2 incomplete food tasks

- 3 incomplete food tasks

to
- all 4 food tasks
If I am short incomplete food tasks, the following lore word counts will be applied:
Short 1 task: 50 words
Short 2 tasks: 75 words
