“Let’s dance, you beached flounder.” “Ladies first, ye stumblin’ weak-kneed sea snake,”
What a beautiful exchange! I love Sklonda's tumultuous arrival at the Second Chance, and I am glad to see that she has joined the crew well! Also, the line about Murchadh needing a vacation made me laugh. I guess, as much as this trip seems like a vacation, he is still technically working! Penina seems to be holding the fort down well!

@Petall
I loved putting together some verbal fight exchange! It's something I will keep including over time, as pirate insults are so fun!

It's definitely not an easy job to keep an eye on Kailani, not even considering how to keep her safe. He will have his hands full!

And yes, Penina is doing well so far. But time will tell if it continue to go smoothly...

@Aquasparky
Definitely some tensions that will hopefully get ironed out eventually. It certainly will be a bumpy ride between those two.

When the beast expended its energy from a surface attack, it had to lay on the seafloor. Sometimes Tusitala slept with it but other times, when he couldn’t sleep, he sat beside it and was left with his memories and thoughts. He was relieved to no longer have any interruptions from his guard. Even though they stayed at a distance when the beast was close, the few times they did approach felt oppressive. He didn’t need their protection – he just needed them out of his way. Keeping them back at the palace to protect his daughters would be much better. If anything happened to him...he shivered after hearing the beast give a low growl, probably in relation to a dream it was having. But the growl revealed a large portion of its teeth, and he imagined how he’d easily break under their weight. Even with the anxiety he felt near it, anyone they faced trembled in fear and fell to the beast’s fury. Already, the sea was starting to be decorated with the corpses of sunken ships that ventured too far in Nan’nalu’s territories. Tusitala had successfully exacted his revenge, but it didn’t make him feel any better for it. If anything, he felt like his job wasn’t yet done, and it was like yawning hole that needed to still be filled. Hopefully his daughters were faring much better. He trusted Penina would keep the kingdom safe and prosperous in his stead. She was like her mother in that way – responsible and caring. Kailani was more like her mother’s adventurous side, but even Fetia was able to find her way when faced with challenges. Kailani would prevail wherever she went and eventually will find her destiny. In the meantime, he will write his story of how he struck back at those that took so much from him, and hopefully, he will find peace at the end of it. Gosh, Tusitala is becoming such a fascinating character to me! I love when characters start dipping away from morality and go on their own little spirals/corruption arcs. I'm so excited to see where his story goes, whether he gets worse or gets better.

"No can do. If yer ship were damaged and needed repair, ye'd be high'r on our list," the Guardian said, tapping their clipboard for emphasis. The Guardian tensed and began to stutter, "N-n-no, we're not sayin' that." "Alright, so then there shouldn't be any issue securing one of these docks for work on our ship," Sklonda continued, arms crossed. "B-b-but, we 'ave clients -" "Who'd be more than willing to wait their turn so we can make the updates and ship out soonest," she interrupted, "It shouldn't be an inconvenience to accommodate us, eh, mate?" And Sklonda tapped the handle of her cleaver with a knowing grin. The Guardian grew pale when they noticed the cleaver had blood stains along the blade, and even started to tremble slightly when she came close enough to whisper to him, "You wouldn't want to upset us, now would you?" "G-g-give us a few d-d-days and we'll 'ave a d-d-dry d-dock ready fer ye," the Guardian quickly stumbled in his words and dashed off, giving orders to some of the workers that were moving about. Luca was left there, mouth agape in astonishment. "Uh, you may catch a seagull in that mouth of yours if you wait long enough," Sklonda commented, eyebrow raised at the mystified Mirror. "Why did you do that?" he asked. "Well, I saw how tough he was treating you and figured I'd step in to help. We are part of the same crew, right?" she said with a single shoulder shrug, as though it wasn't a big deal. Luca's eyes grew wide, "Thank you. I'm in your debt!" Sklonda just scratched the back of her neck in embarrassment, "Really, it's nothing. But you better let Keala know of the good news. Wouldn't want to keep her waiting." Luca gave a smile and a nod before he rushed off. Guess you can't judge a book by its cover, he thought. Mele was laying beside her but had its eyes fixed on Penina in worry. After a couple of head butts against her side, Penina looked down at the Undertide. "What's the matter, Mele? Hungry? Or am I keeping you awake?" she asked, but Mele just looked into her eyes. Penina loved how beautiful Mele's eyes looked, but when she saw herself being reflected back in them, her smile faded. She saw her own exhaustion and worry, and it's when she had to spill out her feelings. "Do you think I am doing well leading Nan'nalu? I can't tell if I am doing the right thing or if I'm making a positive difference. Father isn't around, but he is considered the king in everyone's eyes. It makes it difficult to organize and implement the plans I have when I'm not seen as the actual ruler. It's as though I have to prove to everyone that I have what it takes. And then there is no one here to mentor or guide me...it's so lonely," Penina said to Mele, "I'm glad you're here though, even though you're not much of a talker." It was only a moment, but she swore that she saw her mother's eyes reflected in Mele's, and it startled Penina. Shaking her head, she said, "I must be more exhausted than I thought. We better get to sleep." Laying down, Mele curled up beside her so that it could rest its head against hers. Penina thought back to the time she swam away from home and how she met Keala. She could only hope the Guardian was safe someplace, even if it was far away from her. Now, her heart felt torn between the two dreams - to be a faithful and dutiful leader of Nan'nalu or to have freedom to be her own dragon, maybe even one day exploring the world with Keala. He paused and then spoke, "We should head back to the palace and talk to Siren, the head guard." "...Except the palace," Kailani winced, "Do we really have to go back?" He nodded, "She would know where the island is as she had accompanied your parents to it." It left Kailani to wonder, why did we never go to this island with them? And Murchadh echoed her thoughts, "It is strange that you never went to the island with your parents. "I don't know about this island's cove," said Murchadh as he looked at the journal entry, "And even though there are pictures on the next page, it doesn't give me much on where to find it..." "So how are we going to get there?" asked Kailani.

Murchadh gave a little frown, "I have an idea, but I don't think you'll like it." Kailani laughed, "I can brave whatever you throw at me."

He paused and then spoke, "We should head back to the palace and talk to Siren, the head guard." "...Except the palace," Kailani winced, "Do we really have to go back?" He nodded, "She would know where the island is as she had accompanied your parents to it."

It left Kailani to wonder, why did we never go to this island with them? And Murchadh echoed her thoughts, "It is strange that you never went to the island with your parents. Hopefully it is still safe enough to venture there. I'm sure Siren will tell us if there is any danger."

Out of ideas, they made the final decision to head back to the palace and, with Aalto's help, were quickly making the trip back.

More material pulls, but it makes it easier on me at this time, especially since my mind is on the thought of death (and I don’t need to have hammered in me more with a death in the 'locke this week). Saving up a special pull to happen sometime this week, so brace yourselves!
"Uh, you may catch a seagull in that mouth of yours if you wait long enough,"
Everything you have done with Sklonda is everything to me, I love who she is going to be (at some point we will have find a way to let Sunny and Zarzuela know that Sklonda is alright).
It was only a moment, but she swore that she saw her mother's eyes reflected in Mele's,
Ohohohohoho, is there perhaps some reincarnation going on here??? [emoji=special eyes size=1] Also, I really feel for Penina, being torn between her duty to the kingdom and her longing for Keala. Also oooooo, I can't wait to see this island, and to see why the family never returned with Kailani and Penina. I hope going back to the palace doesn't get Kailani in too much trouble...

@Petall
It makes me so happy that you are enjoying Sklonda in this story ^^ I hope she sticks around for awhile. She has been an interesting character to add to Keala's crew. (And yes! Just lmk how you'd like to go about it!)

And maybe =3 We shall see!
