They fly around on their own when she is resting, but as she leaps into the air to lead a performance, they come from every corner of the room to flock around her. First there is formation flying. They make a V, a diamond, a swarm of ever-changing shape as they follow their leader. They make a ring that the nocturne "jumps" through, fluttering dramatically. They form up in the shape of a nocturne and do a little dance with their leader, each mimicking the other in turn to great comedic effect. It turns into a game of follow the leader as the nocturne flies in a loop. They form a wheel that rotates around and around, faster and faster, until she breaks away and rockets across the hall, the kites following. Up, down, through columns and around other fliers, soaring to the ceiling and swooping just over the heads of the crowd. She is flying at breakneck speed, and it seems like she must crash into something, but she never does. Her paper minions don't miss a beat, trailing her every move. It's like watching ducklings follow their mother, if ducklings could do an Immelman turn. The performance ends with the nocturne suddenly flaring her neon wings out and stopping in the dead center of the hall. Her kites whoosh off in all directions, and as she does a little bow they rain trinkets down on the guests who watched the show.
Oh is this it? It would be rude of him to refuse his wife, so he accepted her invitation without question. This festival also served as a pleasant temporary distraction, as his past week was entirely spent scouting for new territory with his brother-in-law. As the Skydancer couple wandered the stalls offering a variety of food and activities, the male protectively draped his peacock-feathered wing over his wife; his focus was entirely on her enjoyment of the festival. There were even a bunch of carnival games to try. Fjorm had her eye on this one oversized Luminax plushie, though the game presented a challenge of strength. Spence, always attentive to the needs of his loved ones, did not give up until he won that plushie, even if his persistence at the carnival game was not the most financially sound decision. The Cloudsong was alive with laughter, cheering, and joy as dragons sang, played music, danced, ate, crafted, performed, and chatted in a delightful environment. Suddenly, a sharp, strong gust of wind swept over, interrupting the merriment, the music-playing stopped in it's tracks. It wound between dragons and wooshed past stalls; anything that was not held firmly or not attached to the cloudsong was blowing around wildly. A male Skydancer in the gathering nearly lost his hat before rescuing it. While random billows is expected in the Wind territory, this one seemed almost strange, as it was very coalesced, and the concentration of wind magic could be strongly felt. It was almost like....It Was Alive. Quickly, questions began to rise. "What's happening??" "Is the Windsinger joining us?" "By the Eleven, is a storm coming??" A young hatchling's cry peirced the air, drawing quick attention. "LOOK!!" The adolescent was pointing at the freak gust, which was now gathering into a medium-sized tornado in the sky. Most of the dragons gasped near-collectively in surprise. Then the Aether spoke, it's voice lively, with merry, joyful tones. "Sorry I'm late, everybody! "By the Eleven, is a storm coming??"

A young hatchling's cry peirced the air, drawing quick attention.

"LOOK!!"

The adolescent was pointing at the freak gust, which was now gathering into a medium-sized tornado in the sky.

Then, Poof.

Her face was unreadable behind a pale mask. Her form shifted and swirled like the winds themselves, finally settling in the silhouette of a dragon. She paused to watch the aerial shows of Skydancers and Spirals above, though who could tell whether her expression was one of admiration or judgement. Perhaps she was studying their choreography. In a single motion, she took flight and joined them. Pitchblende sliced through the air, graceful limbs hitting each position to the beat of the Snapper's drum. Meanwhile, Adalee busied herself with balloons and ribbons, all fine merchandise for a merchant of her caliber. She pocketed a trinket with colorful craftsmanship, enjoyed a treat of toasted grasshoppers. After a few moments she had her arms full of party favors. But she came prepared with many a satchel to put them in. Adalee only stopped to offer a smile and shout to her clanmate as Pitchblende finished her aerial show.

She stops at the first booth that catches her attention: a puppet show! Right now, the spiral attending it is lecturing a few dragons on how she made the puppets. A slightly younger spiral beside her is demonstrating for a handful of completely enthralled hatchlings and Delta smiles. After listening to the speech for a few minutes, she sits down behind the hatchlings and watches it herself. It really is quite impressive! Also, it's just entertaining. She finds herself swept up in the story of a young guardian setting out to find their charge, fighting enemies and beastclans, and finally making it to the Cloudsong where they run a kite booth! She barely blinks until it ends, and then claps wildly, making the puppeteer blush. "Thank you for being such a lovely audience today!" she tells the assembly, which grew significantly since Delta sat down. "I have a treat for all of you today: a how-to-make-your-own puppet guide and a coupon to one of the craft booths! On the final day of the Cloudsong, we are having a community puppet show so please show up!" She bows and Delta grabs the stub of paper excitedly. She definitely knows what she's going to do next!

She loved seeing all of the cool tricks and spending time with her family. Her siblings were often too busy to spend time with her; the only one that she saw regularly was the youngest, Vey. But because of the festival, they had all agreed to take time off. She snuggled against her older sister's side, feeling very warm and happy. Guardians weren't known for their flying expertise, so none of her family members were partaking in the aerial displays either. "Here, I got you something," Vey called as he approached the group. He knelt down and presented a beautiful pinwheel to Lichen. "I painted it, I hope you like it!" Lichen stared at the beautiful colors on the pinwheel and grinned from ear-to-ear. "I love it, thank you!" She gave him a big hug and blew into the pinwheel to watch it spin. This was shaping up to be the best week of her life!

Shaking his head at the thought of how that unintended development would alter the dynamics of the purple Guardian’s family, Seaspray turned back to the Skydancer running the stand. “Pardon me, my friend,” he murmured, “I didn’t mean to ignore you. You were saying this jewel had unusual properties?” The Adept Mage listened closely to what the merchant told him, nodding thoughtfully. The jewel was an unusual combination of blue and light green, the two colors swirling together within its depths. And if the Merchant could be believed, it had the ability to control winds. Seaspray studied the swirling colors, watching the blue and green wrap around each other. Neither one ever managed to overwhelm the other. Rather, the two colors existed in a harmonious partnership, each seeming almost to lend strength to the other… Seapsray blinked. Now, where had THAT thought come from? Frowning, he stared more intently at the jewel, reaching out to it with senses other than the usual five. A second later, a broad smile spread across his features. Straightening, he fished the required currency out of his bag. “Here you are, friend,” the Dual Mage told his favorite merchant, “I’ll take the jewel. It’s exactly what I was looking for.” His old friend from years past beamed as he accepted Seaspray’s payment. “Thought you’d see it,” the Skydancer said. Wrapping the jewel in a soft cloth, he secured the bundle with twine and handed it over to his fellow Mage. “As soon as I found that one, I thought of you. It’s practically the twin of the one you bought a few year’s back, even to the Dual Power.” He glanced casually at Seaspray’s Chest, where the Mage’s Dual Focus Stone hung invisibly from a thick chain, and smiled slightly, clearly seeing straight through the illusion that hid the powerful jewel from view. “Afraid I can’t tell you what the Water Magic in this one does, though,” he added apologetically, “That’s not my forte. But it’s there, sure enough.” Tucking the precious jewel away safely, Seaspray grinned. “Oh, it’s there, alright,” he agreed happily. “The stone practically sings with it, if you know how to hear it…and the Wind Magic adds a nice complimentary tune to the melody.” Bowing his thanks to the Merchant, the Dual Mage bid his old friend farewell, turned, and made his way further along the corridor, glancing at other booths as he walked. Two years of waiting were more than worth it for this little gem. Seapsray’s paw touched the precious package, his heart pounding. Now, with two Focus Stones, he had a much better chance at finishing that searching spell properly. He had been working on it for years, needing only a strong enough focus to keep the two powerful magics of Wind and Water balanced. Perhaps, now, with his personal Focus Stone providing the catalyst and this precious gem acting as the anchor, he had the key to finding what had happened to the Tidelord at last… And it seems that Seaspray has finally come completely out of his depression..but what, exactly, has the powerful Mage been working on all this time? Perhaps it’s a very good thing that the Cloudsong is currently far away from the sea….

(Wind Born,
Arcane Adopted,
Water by Choice)

The strange Pearlcatcher standing by one of the Merchant booths watched with amusement as Duskcloud accidentally bonded with the very demanding Eggull. Shaking his head at the thought of how that unintended development would alter the dynamics of the purple Guardian’s family, Seaspray turned back to the Skydancer running the stand.

“Pardon me, my friend,” he murmured, “I didn’t mean to ignore you. You were saying this jewel had unusual properties?”

The Adept Mage listened closely to what the merchant told him, nodding thoughtfully. The jewel was an unusual combination of blue and light green, the two colors swirling together within its depths. And if the Merchant could be believed, it had the ability to control winds. Seaspray studied the swirling colors, watching the blue and green wrap around each other. Neither one ever managed to overwhelm the other. Rather, the two colors existed in a harmonious partnership, each seeming almost to lend strength to the other…

Seapsray blinked.

It’s exactly what I was looking for.”

His old friend from years past beamed as he accepted Seaspray’s payment. But it’s there, sure enough.”

Tucking the precious jewel away safely, Seaspray grinned. “Oh, it’s there, alright,” he agreed happily. “The stone practically sings with it, if you know how to hear it…and the Wind Magic adds a nice complimentary tune to the melody.”

Bowing his thanks to the Merchant, the Dual Mage bid his old friend farewell, turned, and made his way further along the corridor, glancing at other booths as he walked. Perhaps, now, with his personal Focus Stone providing the catalyst and this precious gem acting as the anchor, he had the key to finding what had happened to the Tidelord at last…

And it seems that Seaspray has finally come completely out of his depression..but what, exactly, has the powerful Mage been working on all this time? Perhaps it’s a very good thing that the Cloudsong is currently far away from the sea….
