But what neither of you are taking into account is:

1. This is the way the artist/s wanted it to look
2. This is the name the site wanted it to have

Regardless of anyone’s opinion of whether or not the gene looks like natural scales, is being used like natural scales, resembles actual keel scales etc.

And most importantly, you are not taking into consideration that people DO actually like this gene, as is, and are using it, and would be really angry if it changed AFTER they brewed/bought the genes and changed their dragons.

And I think the opinion of THOSE people >>>>> the opinion of the CHANGE IT!1!! people, every single time.

art is subjective. maybe some of us just see the toenails in it.

[/quote] like everyone has said, the artists on this site are like... professionals and adults. who are providing a product to the people who use their website. not only is it ridiculous to act like they're gonna get their widdle feewings hurt by people not liking a gene they released. it seems like you might be the one who doesn't know about art, because many MANY of the people who have a problem with this have expressed that they're also in the art industry and know what goes into it. if you make art, especially professionally, you will gent blunt and occasionally rude criticism. i really think a lot of you people saying everyone is being too rude and we should coddle the admins can't see this because YOU would be too sensitive to take this kind of feedback. which is fine. plus... we already know they won't change it. it's so annoying that everyone is also shit talking the mockups people made as if staff would actually remake a whole gene because someone drew it better (we WISH bro). emphasizing that the community would like well thought out tertiary genes that are actually good to look at and work for more than like 3 specific color combinations/would like to have input in the process so things that are widely hated come out less often is helpful imo. if they only put out things people don't like, people aren't gonna spend money on their site. either way like it's just crazy to act like people should censor their criticisms. especially just bcs it literally doesn't affect you in any way to see someone say they don't like something! it's feedback for the STAFF, we aren't personally opening up your dragons files and making them look better to oppress you lmao.

it's my opinion that the gene is good and doesn't need to be changed. it's lovely the way it is, I wouldn't change a thing about it and it's obvious the artist worked hard on this gene.

If you pull up images, which people have done on other topics, you can see how similar they look to said items. There is another post in here that shows what actual keeling looks like. Even more people have pointed out how some of the larger scales look way out of place, the line-art is a bit thicker, the scales feel randomly placed, the scales do not seem to go in proper directions, and places on the wings/feather, and some fur spots should probably not have the scales at all. It looks like dandruff at that point like the scales fell off and into the feathers which is not what actual keel is (if I am wrong, correct me.) And I could keep going but I am just repeating what everyone else has already said. People want to make it known that they feel it could have been better, but at some point it hits everyone repeating anything over and over again.

It isn't rude to say the gene looks like toetails or tongues or ticks because it's kindaaa true with some scrys I've seen. But it's perfect if you want a plague rep. Heck, I've seen people use it for food dragons and cactus dragons and rose dragons.

I don't think the gene should be touched design wise since people are already using it. However, just because someone is criticizing it does not mean it's rude. It's criticism and you're bound to get it.
