A lot of those apply to me, dang
How about “Bad things only ever happen to one specific dragon, but they’re somehow still the nicest, sanest, and most productive dragon in the lair”
Or “There is no real lair, just a bunch of dens and rooms in the void”
“Nobody has ever left the lair, ever, unless they’re Wind dragons. Then they’re never home”

This is SUCH A GOOD LIST!! I was feeling kind of proud of myself for avoiding most of these just by having...like, really mundane clan lore? But then I got absolutely dragged by: noun names, real people names, obligatory clan of academics, exactly one (1) bodyguard, complete tonal shifts, ignoring breed lore (I totally forgot about the coatl thing - I have a sad, old coatl who's brown, whose lore touches on that but I totally forgot it involves species prejudice! Time to fix that)
May I also add that the main coliseum team, if there is one, also holds some kind of special position in the lair, and their apparel rarely if ever matches a dragon who spends their days covered in mud and blood? I'm definitely guilty of that one, except my precious 6-digit level 25, who's fully garbed in armor. Everyone else gets cute silks and delicate accents though.

air conditioning: canonically mated pair that are designed to contrast eachother, usually visually, typically with one being dark themed and the other being lighter themed
hati and skoll: the same as above but the dragons are siblings or friends instead
what would you boys do without me: the one dragon who the entire clan would definitely fall apart without, most likely because they're literally the only person who does a specific essential job.
cancerous gembond: all cases of gembond are a disease that spreads and overtakes the body like cancer, weighing the dragon down making them unable to fly and likely eventually turning them into a statue or leading to the crystal and facet genes.

planimal: dragons that are part plant
inorganic growths: dragons that are naturally part rock, glass, cloth, ect or other inanimate inorganic object
immaterial biology: dragons who's bodies are naturally made up at least in part of immaterial things such as ghostly clouds, energy, thoughts, magic, dreams, ect

I'll find mine!
-draconic divinity: dragons are gods, spirits, demigods, the shade's manifestation, or other similar non-mortal entities
Foxglove. Looking at you. You have achieved massive amounts of power through who-knows-what.
-my neighbor my neighbor and me/it's a small town after all: everyone knows everyone else
yeah...
-what breed lore?:breed lore in general is ignored, except for pearls, emperors, charges, and sometimes memory problems
actually, just all breed lore in my case!
-canon breed sizes are ignored
sizes are about the same, just less extreme differences (fae are smaller than everyone else, but not by that much and same with imps but larger.)
-born with special powers that aren't strictly canon-friendly, like shapeshifting or seeing into people's souls or dimension-hopping or speaking to elder creatures from beyond
Error...
-a form i am comfortable with/protrusion into this reality: self-insert dragon
Slightly? I made one at one point but that character isn't me anymore, but ze started as me?
-canon outsiders going native: fandragon with adapted lore
-the cool old wise mentor reasonable authority figure, usually the progens
my progens are the opposite of this! There is mad scientist lady and someone who is always willing to sit down with tea and a book.
-sornieth 2077: if I ever get around to writing my lair, you'll see
-council of wyrms: clan leadership is a small council and the progens are usually part of it
why they haven't kicked out my progens from this, I don't know
-test tube baby: I think I've got four of them
-bookwyrm smart: Greenie, Darkened
-whatever you call that trope where you can't leave someplace because once you hit the area limit you never move further away no matter how much you walk so you just end up walking past the same sign 50 times: That's going to happen to mine when I get the hibden space, they all get to starve to death!
-merchant dragon used to hold wishlists
-hatchling from hell: murderous permababy
don't have the scroll yet, but looking at you, Error!
-powermad mage who intends to harness/fight/absorb/host/make a deal with/overthrow/control the shade and/or a deity
She's not a mage, but Foxglove is definitely stealing some of Bossdad's power
-someone lives in a lair with lots of dangling trinkets and plants
-it's just danse
(wait, they're supposed to?)
tonal dissonance
- permababy that is also god
-but then who was phone: that one weirdly specific lore trope where it's written in 2nd person and "you" dies at the end lmao
Dragon is a mercenary/assassin/murderer who may or may not have killed someone in the clan, but no one seems to care.
(there are a bunch of these)
Hoardselling stuff is just the craftsdragons putting it to use.
no time like the present
-stock suspicious breeds
(I mean, they all deserve it, and nobody really cares because (at least with the Fae), she will painfully exalt you. that reminds me, I should add the exaltation practices to my lore document)
-a bunch of edgy poetry quotes in bio
hollywood atheist: There's Jaguar, who would have murdered everyone if she was not restrained in the Cave of Dreamers (also hello sky, I knew it was you even before I read the username)
-the dragon who's whole purpose is to do experiments that explode a lot and is the only one wearing goggles
half of these are Foxglove...
didn't realize she was so trope-y
detroit become dragon
fandragons
similarly, owner hoards specific item, lore explanation for hoard is dragon that is also obsessed (I only have plans for the Mith-mother, but she's coming for your miths...)
and I'll add my own: That one dragon you A Lot of money one as a joke (looking at you, triple-basic fae I spent 70g on and still needs apparel and stones and I have bad rng luck so I'll be buying that elim)

How about
-Wind Spiral who is stuck in a job they really don't like but they have to do it because they're good at it
-Clan of pirates that sells stolen goods and has an office building
-Seaside village, preferably in Lightning
-Magic boy who think's he's a god and has a cult but no one really likes him much
-HIVEMIND dragon who is weirdly obsessed with normal dragons

-site function literalism/auction house edgyfication: a dragon who's lore is centered around the interpretation of selling dragons on the ah as a very literal real in universe thing, with it being standard practice in their lore for parents to breed for "pretty" offspring and sell the ones that aren't desirable for profit. this tends to go hand in hand with insistently interpreting exaltation as a form of deadly religious human(dragon?) sacrifice and alchemy as sacrificing real live sentient beings to boil to death in baldwin's pot.
-enforced lineage and lore over-integration: site offspring and parents lists must all be adhered to 100% rigidly and if there's a single thing on there that isn't in the dragon's lore it's tainted.
-bring me your virgin orphans: g1-only lair that most likely refuses to breed, for what may or may not be lore reasons, and may or may not have lore to match all of their dragons being childless and parentless (a lot of them will probably be seraph wildclaws that are actually gods)
-accidentally eusocial: the only dragons who have canon offspring present in the lore within the lair are the progens or clan leaders, who usually have their first 3 or so offspring still present in the lair as separate lored dragons while no one else or very few others have canon descendants present, accidentally giving the impression that ether everyone is single or only the royal family is allowed to breed.
