She’s the best, and she made mine better than yours.” The hatchling poked its nose into the air, the gesture causing it to overbalance. It hastily recovered with a few frantic wingbeats, smiling sheepishly. “At least my tail was made long enough to keep me upright.” “But my wings are bigger - I can stay in the air all day long if I wanted.” “And my teeth are sharper so I don’t need to hide in the sky.” The hatchling stuck its tongue out at the other. “It’s not hiding. It’s called…” the other hatchling tried to remember the word, “Spying! Yeah, spying!” “You’re no secret agent dragon. I bet you’ve never even seen your flightmom before!” “Am too! And I bet you haven’t seen yours, either!” “I bet I can get her attention first, and then she’ll visit and you’ll see.” “We’ll see about that! I’ll make the best presents for mine!” “Not if I make them first!” The two fire hatchling and the nature hatchling exchanged another round of glares and half-growls before being corralled back to their preschool class by a pair of slightly bemused caretakers. [center][emoji=fire rune size=1] [color=blue]~[/color] [emoji=nature rune size=1][/center] It was a little while later that Porifior had caught back up with Emilie. The precocious coatl had spent the last millenia recounting the tale of the Nature hatchling to his banescale companion. As he recalled his encounter, the feathers around his neck and face rose and fell to enunciate his words. “And that’s why we need to make sure we do the [i]best[/i] to make Flamecaller proud of us!” Porfirio exclaimed. Emilie looked her friend over, “I don’t know, Firio, are you _sure_ that’s what happened?” “Well, yeah! We need to win!” The banescale released a breath. “I mean, I guess, sure. Did you… have a plan?” The coatl opened his mouth to reply, and then shut it. “Well, uhm, we’ll just… do the best at whatever it is we’re doing in class over the next week. And that’ll get flightmom’s attention!” “That... does make sense. Aw, how cute! ^^ This totally sounds like an actual argument hatchlings would have. Loving the story so far!

I have to say, the theme for this dom battle is utterly adorable. The art and the banter is so well done... wholesomeness levels are rising off the charts.
