Thumbprint cookies are Neatherrose's signature item, although 'thumbprint' isn't the best word to use for these oversized treats. It looks like they used their entire paw for the indents. The jam itself is literally glowing (and crackling?) while the cookies look a little burnt at the bottom. The ingredients they used are flour, sugar, eggs, butter, and charged duneberry jam.

Pyre starts with a rhubarb pie, chosen because of her love for the decorative parts of baking them, and the unique flavor profile. The main ingredient is obviously rhubarb, with a simple pie crust and a spicy mixture for the filling. Pyre decorated the top with hearts made of part of the crust material, adding to the homemade feeling. She names the dish "Ubarb Spice Pie", a pun thought up by her partner.

Already transitioning into the one thing Cadan actually knows how to make. Starting off strong!
It's... you already know. It's french toast- but what's this, the author didn't think his character through and, four days in, has decided he doesn't want to make this Cadan's only trait in this challenge lest he sound like a broken record, so actually he's able to make the bread from scratch now as well!
It's a nice fluffy bread with a swirl of cinnamon in the middle, the slices lightly toasted to hold up better when soaked through with the egg batter, seasoned with vanilla extract, ginger, cardamom and nutmeg, as well as an extra dash of cinnamon for good measure.
It is midnight, my family is asleep and I am hungry. Oh the humanity

"What- you, the father of all skepticism, worried?"
"Just because I don't think it happened doesn't mean I can't be worried."

Exemplar will make blueberry hand pies for his signature bake! These sweet, rustic treats are easy to take on the road and his teammate Paradigm's favorite sweet treat, so he's had a lot of practice making them. The blueberries are locally sourced from the Golem Workshop, too! ...but maybe it's best not to question where exactly those come from, now that he thinks about it.
A treat for hatchlings (and dragons) who have been very good today.
Task: Describe what your dragon would make for their technical challenge in a minimum of 2-3 sentences. Include the name of the dish, the main ingredients, and why you chose to start with this type of baked good.
Cupcake would make his namesake: cupcakes. He'd make an entire tray of them, varying in size for drakes of all walks of life (small ones for faes, large ones for imperials, and others for those in between). He'd show how he makes the perfect chocolate buttercream, chocolate cake (from scratch of course), the perfect molten peanut butter filling, and even his own cupcake wrappers. He'd probably even make his own toppings, likely using his own homemade chocolate shavings, fresh peanuts, and homemade molten peanut butter drizzle.

Macaron would also make her namesake (macarons), likely using a chocolate combo. She'd likely go for a chocolate peanut butter approach, making her own chocolate for dipping the macarons in halfway (like a shell) and sugar peanut butter filling. She'd probably split them evenly between crunchy and smooth peanut butter, with the crunchies having a peanut sprinkle on the chocolate dip while the smooth macarons have a white chocolate peanut butter drizzle over the chocolate dip. She'd make them in multiple sizes to show she can create them as close to perfection as possible no matter how big or small they may be (for all drakes of any size of course). It may not include her candymaking as much as she's used to, but it'd be the closest thing to perfection she can muster that doesn't seem too far out of left field.

If allowed to bake as a team, it'd be a full cake. Probably, just to put a twist to things, they'd tackle a chocolate lava cake. After all, when it comes to lava cakes, the novelty comes in how it's baked (and baking it just right at that) compared to exotic ingredients or decor-based sweets. Just cocoa, butter, eggs, flour, sugar, and salt. That's all they need to show off their baking skills when they work together, with Cupcake handling the technical side of things while Macaron ensures the cake looks just as perfect as it tastes. Simple? Arguably yes. But it's the perfect way to test their technical skills in a kitchen.

For her signature bake, Berrywish plans to make a small batch of some mixed berry cupcakes! They're what she's most familiar with after all, and she worries she couldn't make a pie look nice enough (even though the theme is meant to be something less extravagant). The berries included would be blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, in a vanilla cake.
For decorations, she adds rainbow buttercream, some sparkle, and a basic sugar flower on each. Even though it's meant to be simple, Berrywish's simple is still a little bit over the top. They turn out fairly well! Not too dry as they have been in the past.

One of the challenges of running a boarding house is coming up with recipes everyone likes. Divinity prefers plant products in her cookies (she is a Tundra, and that's easiest and most delicious for her), but she would be up for the challenge of creating cookies that use ingredients favored by other breeds: insects, seafood, and meat.
The insects would probably get ground into a puree; she might be able to then mold that into a cake, or add syrup to use it as a frosting, or both! Maybe with bits of insect legs and shells thrown in for that satisfying cookie crunch.
For meat, I keep thinking of maple-glazed bacon. :D Maybe the same thing would work for other kinds of meat. It's fun to think how magic would affect flavors and textures, too. Maybe a bit of satin mouse, added to the batter, would create a nice, tingly feeling whenever a dragon bites into the cookies?
And seafood, hmm, that's a bit tougher. I've seen crispy dried anchovies dusted with sweet chili powder. That might pair well with dark chocolate...or Divinity could use seafood flakes with dried fruits and nuts. Sea-salt cookies with dried fruit bits, plus seafood flakes on top -- sort of a tropical vibe.

Farn would try his hand at making apple scones. Featuring apples, flour (self-raising), sugar, butter, a tiny bit of salt and milk to bind the whole mix together. He’s a fan of traditional flavours mostly, but he might sometimes add raspberries to the mix, or swap out apples for blueberries.
Scones are one thing Farn hadn’t mastered quite yet (his tend to be a little too crumbly), so he’d probably use the time given to work out how much milk he needs in order to give him a nice soft dough.

Today, Neatherrose is attempting to make madeleines. Admittedly, they're not the best at the technical aspect of baking. They have to be careful during the entire mixing process so the eggs don't collapse. The end results are somewhat dense madeleines that taste more like poundcake then the fluffy texture they were hoping to achieve.

For her signature bake, Malwyne will always go for macarons. Some dragons might say these tasty treats are difficult to make but Malwyne has perfected every step in the recipe. While she loves trying to create new and interesting flavours like green tea or red velvet, for her signature bake she will stick with good old chocolate like the swirls on her scales
Thursday
Malwyne spent quite some time deciding on her technical challenge. She only knew she definitely wanted to try creating a new flavour. As this would pose enough of a challenge already, Malwyne decided to go with a basic sheet cake. For the flavour, she chose Luminous Almonds, a plant they recently had luck cultivating in her clan. Not only do they shine bright and pretty, they are also quite sweet. Perfect for a cake that is both, beautiful and delicious.
