As a result, the population of Homunculi has risen. Less desired members make up a majority of these numbers, while healthy, ‘perfect’ Homunculi have an ever-growing demand. More demand has led some to seek breeding their more successful creations, while others have resorted to more dubious methods of obtaining resources. Almost expectantly, creators have turned to graverobbing or even using still-living dragons for their homunculus creations. It’s common knowledge that organic material from dragons is needed in order to make stable Homunculi, and while some areas are plentiful in such materials (Plague being a good example), others are not. Some hold a sort of moral high ground in their choices of using living dragons. Certain criminals and those that are terminally ill work in their eyes. Both would be better off ‘reborn’ as subservient dragons, criminals only doing harm while Homunculi largely do good, and those that are ill can have a sort of ‘second life’ as one. Regardless, these choices have brought back the resentment held against homunculus creation. One cannot tell if a Homunculus was made using no dragon parts, a discarded body, a stolen body, or even a living dragon. As such, ethical concerns have been raised once more, and it’s not uncommon to hear gossip surrounding one who creates Homunculi. Even with the spreading rumors and concerns, progress has far from halted, though what constitutes progress has only been cause for more arguments against the creation of Homunculi. Whether by accident or with a solid purpose in mind, strange new variants of Homunculi have begun to pop up. Pushing the boundaries of what defines the subspecies, it’s only a matter of time before they become known to the public. What happens next, only time will tell. ---------- It's been a long time coming, but I'm here to announce that I'm opening Homunculi to subspecies crossover variants! As more and more alchemists get their hands on recipes, there's bound to be a member of a subspecies thrown into the mix! They are born when a dragon (or parts of a dragon) infected with the Prion disease are added to the alchemical mixture. It’s not uncommon for still-living dragons to be used in the formation of this variant, and as expected, there is much controversy surrounding their creation. What many may consider a cruel fate for those infected, some view as a mercy kill, as those infected with Prion disease struggle to live normal lives among clanmates. Most Homunculi contract the Prion disease themselves whenever an infected dragon is added. Outside of the disease’s effects, little changes in a Homunculus itself physically. Occasionally, under currently unknown circumstances, this variant is born instead. In an attempt to stave off the infection, the disease is isolated and removed from the body through hardened growths of blood. These growths are then shed, and are capable of spreading the disease not dissimilar to that of a Enceph. Functionally, Proteinaceous Homunculi behave as a normal healthy Homunculus. They obey commands of their creator or owner, and can develop their own individuality if they live long enough. It is important to dispose of the growths somewhere safe and away from other clan members and Homunculi, as they are capable of spreading the Prion disease. Hard workers, they may state the pain they’re suffering from, but don’t let that stand in the way of their task. Rumor has it that Encephs themselves are responsible for the creation of this variant. It's been a long time coming, but I'm here to announce that I'm opening Homunculi to subspecies crossover variants!

As more and more alchemists get their hands on recipes, there's bound to be a member of a subspecies thrown into the mix! When this happens, a normal Homunculus can be born, or a special variant may come about. These Abnormal Variants often have a main identifying feature, whether it be sporting an unusual body color, or new markings not normally seen in the subspecies. They may also possess the abilities of the subspecies they are born from, making them far more than your average Homunculus.

If you're interested in patenting a newly discovered Homunculus variant, PM me and we can work something out!

Please note that all Abnormal Variants will be kept in a Google Doc, which will be linked at the bottom of the post covering normal variants and genes.

Of course, what would this announcement be if there wasn't an Abnormal variant to start things off? Look below for the very first of it's kind!

Color Requirements

Secondary: White - Obsidian
Tertiary: Tomato-Blush

Basic Lore:
Created entirely on accident, Proteinaceous Homunculi are the first officially recognized abnormal Homunculus variant.

Extra Lore:
Enceph Born - Metallic/Alloy/Gembond; Tomato - Blush
A rare variant of Proteinaceous Homunculus that is born from using an Enceph in a Homunculus recipe. Initially, there was thought to be no variation in the ones born from using an Enceph in place of a Spongiform. Upon one individual being granted free will upon breaking free, it was revealed that they could control Spongiforms much like a normal Enceph. This control is weaker than a true Encephs, but it can allow for a Proteinaceous Homunculus to control others of its kind with ease. The growths on this variant are harder, inhibiting the spread of the disease.

Reformed Proteinaceous Homunculi - Metallic/Alloy/Gembond; Cinnamon - Rust
Upon dying, there is a chance that one of these will be formed. Decayed Homunculi are already violent in nature, and these take it a step further by attempting to spread Prion disease to as many other dragons as possible. Those infected by the Reformed Proteinaceous Homunculi can become a thrall to the artificial dragon, forced to give magic to prolong their life. Incredibly dangerous, it’s advised that when an Enceph born dies, the body should be destroyed, preventing any potential revival,

Added your boy and the breeding pair! Thank you once again for helping me with officially getting crossovers set up for this sub! It was fun setting up the lore for this.

@HenryJekyll I have a hyrbid homunculi child! Added your boy! Whether he gets most of his genes from his mom or his dad, all that matters is that one of his parents is a Homunculus!
