Lore and Origins
Originally from Dragonhome's Cairnstone Rest, Vladislaus Lancast was once a respectable but unnatural lord with eerie tendencies to drink blood from his deceased enemies and an interest in the science of dragon bodies. He was somehow... vampiric, if you will. At some point the dragons of the Rest wanted him gone in fear of them being next of his victims or test subjects and drove him out of his home. He ran towards Scarred Wastelands and after weeks of traveling within the plague-ridden lands, he came upon the Wyrmwound. Vladislaus was so endlessly fascinated by this bowl of disease that he wanted to bathe in it. Days later, there did not appear to be any consequences and he kept bathing in the Wound. Weeks later, however, was a different thing altogether; his skin had become dull and it had blisters, cracks and stone-like growth was starting to form on his legs and wings. Worst was when he had woken up one night a bit disoriented and knew that there was something wrong. He did not know what but something was out of order, tilted. He decided to run tests on himself and, lo and behold, his results showed him that he was as good as dead. It was not a day later that another dragon appeared, named Caligari, giving Vladislaus a chance to observe Wyrmwound's effects more closely and with the benefit that it was now done on someone else. Cue more testing and soon Vladislaus had separated the pestering disease from the liquids of Wyrmwound and into a vial. He also could ensure that any dragon this disease infected would die, but also stay aware. The vial he kept with him at all times, vowing to everyone that he had invented the cure for death. Soon countless of dragons wanted this 'miracle cure' for themselves, and Vladislaus saw this as an opportunity to get rich, while the customers would now unknowingly be spreading this bizarre disease around the Scarred Wastelands and all the other domains.

(Lore's Timeline: This happened years before the beastwars and before Chernogorsk's predecessor clan had set upon the Scarred Wastelands.)

Carpathian Zombies

These are the dragons who perished from drinking Vladislaus' miracle cure due to unforeseen reactions to it in the testing phase. Vladislaus buried them in a secret place in order to avoid anyone noticing anything wrong with his cure. He wanted as much glory from his invention as possible, thus the secrecy. One night all the buried dragons woke up and dug their way out of their graves. Soon it became clear that these ones were only able come out at night or they'd perish for the second time. In spring and summer, the Carpathians must migrate to colder areas, like mountain tops, or else their undead corpses start to rot. This is also where this variation gets their name from. They are just as immortal as the Lancast Zombies if they keep to their opposing circadian rhythms and colder temperatures.

As their most primal instinct is anger, their response to any stimulus is anger and while some may say that this makes them truly brainless and most zombie-like out of all other variants, there has been evidence of them showing remarkable intelligence. Too cold or too warm temperatures and bright sunlight doesn't affect them. While other Zombie variations are created by Lancast's potions, a Metastacia can also be created if another Metastacia infects a normal dragon by spitting on them. Metastacia is baseline immortal, just like all other Zombie variants (except Carpathians). Vladislaus has no knowledge of Metastacia Zombies' existence. Metastacia Zombies

This Zombie variation called Metastacia was created when a dragon got their claws on Lancast's potion without Vladislaus's knowledge, drunk it and just like with Carpathians this version of the potion was only in its testing phase -a step after the Carpathian potion- and had something in it that was also somehow alive. That living part took control of the dragon who drunk it, akin to a parasite. The dragon itself lost all of themselves to the parasite, while also changing into a Zombie.
