Biography
Ruby had been brought to Waterdeep as a little hatchling, though she never quite felt like she belonged there, always feeling like there was some where else she was meant to be.
She could sense something out there, calling for her. It took her a long time to decide to leave her home where she'd been raised, but she chose to follow it, heading deep into a mysterious canyon in the Shifting Expanse, not far from the Source.
As she descended into the canyon, she could feel the buzz of magic under her feet, though it didn't slow her in the slightest.
She hadn't expected the floor to open up underneath her, sending her tumbling down into an orb of magic maintained by several dragons that looked entirely unfamiliar. They spoke and chanted in strange tones, ones entirely unfamiliar to her. As she tumbled out and looked down at herself, she realised that she had changed, looking very much like the mysterious cloaked figures in front of her. They stopped and stared down at her with a low hiss. "Who are you, and how dare you intrude on our ceremony? " They growled, the group circling around her and keeping her from going anywhere. She no longer had actual wings, and as such knew she wouldn't be able to fly away. As she looked around, she saw a tunnel behind the biggest of the dragons in front of her, and she only took a few moments to think before her body burst into flames and she charged past, the dragons jumping back to avoid getting burnt. she ran through the tunnels as quickly as she could, searching for a way out. She kept finding more rooms, with more dragons performing rituals, but couldn't find a single way back up to the surface. The flames slowly sputtered out, unable to be maintained for that long, as she slowed to a stop in an empty chamber. She could hear the scratching of claws behind her as another dragon approached, backing up against the wall.
"Are you lost?" A voice asked, the dragon it belonged to peering down at her. "We don't get visitors very often. "
She huffed, looking up at them. "Yes, I'm lost. What is this place? " She asked, frowning. She'd never seen such a place before, and certainly wouldn't expect such a thing in the Shifting Expanse.
"This is.. a training ground for young mages. We bring them to their full potential. "
