Biography

As is perhaps apparent, this Dragon's coloration is quite similar to that of a Possum (or Opossum, depending on what region you are from). He was unnamed when I acquired him, and I based my choice of name on some of the derivatives of the Latin names of Possums.

NOTE as I took inspiration from possums for the name - I also take it for the alchemy, since most possums are immune to most venom's and toxins.

"Hatchling" Letters #1 (he was an adult when he came to Moonrun's clan)

To: Guard
From: PhiloVossi

Hello Father!

I am settling in well here. Matriarch Moonrun and First Consort WitCloud have been quite welcoming, and I am astonished at the way my disparate clan-sibs get along. While Battlemaster Ossia insists that everyone get at least rudimentary training in the Coli, so far I have avoided it. Mostly by being very willing to spend time with Baldwin the Alchemist. I’m here enough that it’s pretty much an apprenticeship, if Baldwin was organized enough to call it that. So far I’ve done pretty well, and if you note some (rather attractive, if I do say so myself) horns on some of my clan-sibs, they were (mostly) made by me.

As for Ark of Abberation proofs:

PhiloVossi loves his work, and expected to find his life dedicated to it. A devotee of Baldwin's his greatest joy is to help others with his work. His brother and co-alchemist, MoonShadow, met and fell head over heals with NyxLight an alchemist not only by trade but a descendant of the Alchemist's Tools lineage.

Project 1: Ark and Healing
The three of them were called upon to help a struggling Abberation; and as "unnatural" as some would consider any Abberation, MariNettle had literally originally been two entities. Working with the help and support of the Ark of Aberration, and making as full use as possible of some of NyxLight's abilities to use alchemy to help to heal souls, they worked tirelessly to assist MariNettle.

Project 2: A Trio of Needs
Three young Tundra's went on a trip of exploration that they were in no way ready to survive. Rouge, Rise and Midsummer

Clan Matriarch MoonRun, as intuitive and determined as usual, tasked him and his fellow alchemists with helping the three to become better suited for their futures. Rise' destiny lay in flight, and he was poorly suited for it currently. Midsummer's future needed power and size, and Rouge's future called for comparatively minor adjustments. The three would look quite different when suited for going forward:

Project 3: Merrow
Merrow was the first Banescale that PhiloVossi had ever met. Landing in the Undertide Pool Entry during a flash storm, she was angry as a way of life. Most of it, he came to find out, was related to her dislike for her appearance. She was the color of flickering shadows; easy to lose in the darkness, and if she'd been of a temperament for a spy, it would have been fitting. It was not. She did not like being grey; being "bland". So for the first time he found himself intrigued by a very subtle project. What could be done to make her slightly more colorful. Not Garish, not too many changes, but something to bring out the shades that were there, but hidden. She was suspicious, ornery, dissatisfied with all his initial suggestions and they had tremendous rows, more than once being told by Clan Battlemage Ossia to "take it to the Coli". Somewhere in all the arguments, suggestions and negotiations he fell for her. Hard.

She wouldn't stay. He knew she was ill-suited, at least for the moment, and honestly probably for the foreseeable future for domesticity. And in the normal course of things while they "share a nest", there would be no eggs. However an alchemist of PhiloVossi's talents need not settle for "normally". Augmenting love with alchemy, they had an egg. Merri who is a patient gentle and completely cheerful soul. A more opposite to the temperament of her mother could not be imagined.

Project 4: The "Twins" or "I do not need apprentices. I do not want apprentices. Get out of my lab"

PhiloVossi had a regular evening routine. Clean up the work area. Check the glassware for cracks or damage. Check the cauldron for cleanliness, rust stains or weak points. Chase the Curious Cauldron out of the work area and reset the wards. He shook both his heads; how that thing kept managing to sneak back in was a mystery. A frustrating one. The last part of his routine was to check his bookshelves. He was fairly sure that he had cured MoonShadow of his tendency to wander off with an alchemy text in hand, and then forget it in the tangled corridors of the Fae Causeway, which was too small for a dragon the size of PhiloVossi to manage. Skimming the shelf, tapping each spine or scroll with a possessive talon, he blinked as he came to a scroll case he'd not seen before.

Gently pulling it out, he read the calligraphic description on the opening plate; “A translation of the Rosarium Philosophorum by Regia Ferguson of Chillwind” He blinked. A rare treasure, and one he had been seeking unsuccessfully for years. He knew that Baldwin possessed a translation done by Jona GlassClaw of SunStream but it was widely acknowledged in the alchemical field that Regia was by far the better scholar.

“Where..How?” He muttered to himself.

Giggles interrupted him. Vossi looked up to see VerityDeru and AtropaVeasna just outside the doorway warding. Philo kept reading.

Vossi looked from one grinning face to another. “How did you-?”
