Biography
NOTE: partner/mate to RuneSwimmer
- - - - -
Ever since Gossamer was young, she could see what others could not. She could see the internal pain and trauma of dragons as plainly as if it were a gash across their chest. But the other dragons could not see the ghostly wounds. They shunned her, calling her insane, calling her crazy. Her mother, however, believed what she said. She hid her and raised her, teaching her about the curse of her lineage, teaching her about the choice she would have to make. In her youth, Gossamer didn’t want to make the choice. “Why would I want to stay in a world that hates me?”
When she grew older, Gossamer learned that she could change the dragons’ wounds. By learning about their fears and traumas, she could help them to heal. In the process of one such session, she began to feel an attraction towards a young Skydancer with a bold temperament. They talked about becoming mates and having a home of their own. This all changed one night when a golden moon cast gentle light down on Gossamer as she sat by the edge of the forest, stargazing. She knew that her time was near; the curse couldn’t be avoided forever. As she listened to the chirping of the frogs, a new sound split through the clearing. The padding of footsteps, then the rustle of leaves. She turned, a smile on her face, and called out to her lover, who could only be the one trying to sneak up on her. He emerged from the bushes and came to sit next to her. She had turned back to look up at the stars when suddenly a white-hot pain pierced her side, making her cry out. Her so-called lover had driven a knife through her, and stood watching as she slowly slumped to the ground, her vision fading.
"You cannot fix what has been broken for too long."
Darkness. Then, a gentle voice reached out, like wind chimes in Gossamer’s ears. “Poor child. You try to heal others, yet they shun you. You look for love, and it stabs you in the back. Do you want to go back to this place of darkness and deceit?”
Silence. Then, Gossamer spoke.
“The world may hate me, but I cannot let what happened to me happen to other innocent dragons. I choose to return, if you will help me.”
The voice chuckled. “You have a good heart. I will give you a second chance.”
Gossamer wandered through the darkening fairgrounds. Once she had danced here, with one who she had believed would be her life partner. The Festivals always took place at a magical intersection; a place reachable for the period of the festivals from any of the domains of Sorineth. She had come from Shadow, but as the fair drew to a close, and the domains separated, she was not careful to follow the path back to the lands of her birth. Bitterly she thought that nothing remained there for her to return to. She looked around, unsure of what part of Sorineth this area was closest to.
The place was mostly deserted, but she caught sight of a Green-Blue spongy pattering along after a Blue-Green Tundra dragon with a wound in his chest. For one brief moment she worried that he was bleeding, and sped up, wanting to help. Partway there she realized she was seeing an old wound; and it was a wound to his mind and heart, not to his body.
He turned, and she hastily stopped, partly embarrassed but partly still concerned for him. "Can I help you?" The words were out before she could stop them, and she realized he had spoken them with her. His voice was deep and gentle, like a warm handshake that also offered a hug.
She didn't know what to say, and the Spongy that had been following him gave her a clearly affectionate headbump. He smiled and said. "If you like, we might explore the fairgrounds together."

Gossamer "True healing takes place within, but how can there be healing when wounds are still being inflicted?" |
Memento mori (Latin: "remember that you have to die") is the medieval Latin Christian theory and practice of reflection on mortality, especially as a means of considering the vanity of earthly life and the transient nature of all earthly goods and pursuits. Memento mori has been an important part of ascetic disciplines as a means of perfecting the character by cultivating detachment and other virtues, and by turning the attention towards the immortality of the soul and the afterlife. |
Alastair is one of Gossamer's closest friends and confidants, and it was he that found her after her "death". He himself had suffered an event wherein he "died" and in his case he became hypersensitive to the barrier that is sometimes understood as death. He and Gossamer have worked with each other to hone their various esoteric skills. Vigil (founder/Gen 0) > Midnight > Attic (exalted) > Jules (exalted) > Gossamer |

Alchemist tools is a lineage of both spirit and skill; as each individual gets more skilled they come closer to achieving the synthesis of alchemical compounds as physical entities and the more subtle alchemy of the soul. Generation 11 |
This lineage was started by a guardian named Pulchrior. In his life, he came to value two things more than all else - a strong family and a powerful warrior clan. To accomplish this Charge, he sought to spread his family's influence throughout all of Sornieth. To this end, he has created the Night Warrior Project. Through this initiative, Pulchrior and his mate, Kidara, continue to train their children, called the Night Warriors, form a network that connects and protects the many clans where they live. Requirements include specific color restrictions which can be found here and a minimum of 20th level (note if the Night Warrior parent was not 20th, then the dragon must be leveled to 25th to qualify; Gossamer's parent Loki was 25th). |
