“My name is Diễm Dương, and yes I may have impersonated a nobleman on my way to Waterless Island. Rest assured, though, as there is no need for that anymore. I walked into the Grand City with my real name on my sleeves, and I am willing to tell you everything.”

“Let’s start off by saying that Kanglong was my ‘young master’ in the sense that I worked as his family’s horsekeeper. We barely knew each other, and I only knew enough about the family to impersonate him somewhat passingly. A lot of it was due to… well, it doesn’t matter. It actually took me by surprise that Lady Summergale did not look into it closer. Although… I garner a guess that she was not too fond of our Sect?”

“Huh, I still refer to Celestial Hall as my own.”

“If you ask me whether I did what I did for fame and fortune, I would say… yes. Initially. It’s quite sinister, isn’t it? H I S T O R Y

Diễm Dương was… never a student of sư phụ's.

His name is in the records, but he has never formally recognized sư phụ as his teacher. The day one of our disciples passed away, he bore his young master’s name to attend the Sword Hunt on Waterless Island. The Crosswind Gang did not tell us anything about the impersonation, but then again… they never told us anything throughout the event.

He quickly made a name for himself on that island, but not in a way anyone would expect. The name of the great general who had contributed to the kingdom was definitely earth-shattering, and even though Kanglong was a relative, he was a royal, a noble, and a descendant of an emperor nonetheless. A dragon from such a family was unheard of. The young noble never made it to the La City, having passed on the way, but we only knew this after the Waterless expedition had ended. I don’t know much of the details, but it seems like the noble family was also conspiring with the young men. For what gain, one must wonder.

Diễm Dương is humble, generous, amiable, and can remember most writings within mere seconds. It is not known when the news broke, or if any of the friends he made during the contest felt cheated, but I suppose his graphic memory would be enough for anyone to stick by his side. Either way, it is told that on the first day the new noble defeated ten contestants back-to-back, and could hold himself against Vĩnh Tuyết. A great feat, even if only because our capable dragons were holding back. As he has stressed multiple times that he did not learn martial arts during his time working for the noble family, it is safe to assume that most of his power comes from the broadsword, and most of his knowledge lends credence to his ability to memorize skills and writings he's only seen just once. Đại sư huynh himself has relied on Diễm Dương to learn about various techniques from other organizations, going so far as to offer him an official position.

Nowadays Diễm Dương lives a stable life in the countryside, working as a mediator for the Imperial court, governing the stream of information between the court and the martial arts world. He would frequently invite his companions to his house, most of whom he met during the campaign. The Waterless Conquerors of the Divine Sword are a strange bunch united from stranger circumstances. I can never understand them.

____The broadsword Splendorous Sun did not belong to Li Kanglong, fortunately, though I don’t know where it came from. A completely black blade made from bronze mixed with pure quartz and feldspar, with the ability to cast the most devastating qi blows. The basis of its abilities is ambiguous as well, though I suspect it is of mortal origins.

____Sunstroke Dao: A range of skills unique to the broadsword, though in reality they are just replications of skills he has seen coupled with the sword’s magic prowess. Can execute skills he's only just witnessed.
____The Walk Of Kings: Celestial Hall’s signature mid-air quickstep technique, characterized by dizzyingly rapid, long strides. His variant involves obscuring himself inside any nearby light source, buying him some time.
____Sunstroke Qi Technique: An intuitive “technique” used to regulate Nhật Thịnh’s qi flow, mirroring any effect of a selected magical artifact.
