B I O G R A P H Y xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx “I am Dạ Nguyệt, proud disciple of Huyền Nghi Celestial Hall - has been, always will be. More people in the Sect know of me as the jailer of the Yin Palace Prison though. It is generally referred to as the prison for magic users. Cultivators, dragons, high profile martial artists, demons, ghosts, asuras. Those that cannot be contained within the walls of the commoner’s jail. It doesn’t mean we target these individuals specifically - just that the most dangerous, diabolical, untamed ones are those not restrained by the rules of mortals.” “I usually don’t want to give out too much information about my job, but I assume only you and the Council will read this, and even if that’s not true I always know how to tie up loose ends. I was recruited by the Grand Minister of Law himself and appointed to look after a prison that has been around for a millennium. It’s under the lake if you must ask, surrounded by teal, murky water, and aquatic vegetation. And if you must ask - yes, there were mythical creatures there, and yes I befriended a golden tortoise. That is not what’s important. The prison has its own magical abilities, though not all of them are naturally occurring. I should know, because I placed the Crystal there myself. It being there is not only beneficial to our community, but the general world of magic users - after all, magical energy is still valuable energy, no matter how corrupted and malicious it is.” “It may not look like it, but I truly enjoy what I’m doing. I don’t derive any pleasure from torturing people, so I either just let them rest inside their jail, or I do what I have to do. Sure, sitting hours after hours outside of jail cells seems boring, and probably unnerving for prisoners to witness - not a bad thing, I suppose - but I know I’m doing good. I know that under my supervision, those dangerous criminals are tightly sealed between the four claws of justice and cannot harm anyone. Most should agree that this method is miles better than standing around, paying lip service about how your Sect has its own rules to punish wrongdoers and how you definitely are not protecting an acquaintance. For me, a lawbreaker from my own Society is worse than anyone else - to go against justice is to betray the trust of our Masters and everything we stand for.” “I truly believe that evil folk can be reformed if they put their mind to it. The key word here is ‘put their mind to it’. If they are not willing to change, then there is nothing I can do, and no compassion I can give out to spare them from the web of karma.” |

H I S T O R Y Hailing from the countryside of Starwood Strands, Dạ Nguyệt came from an ordinary family, which is quite unexpected considering many of her colleagues described her as having the fierce and confident personality of a noble warrior. She has always been optimistic and driven. Determined at a very young age, Dạ Nguyệt had traveled by herself to the Grand City, working odd jobs and earning money to fund her carriage trips. Not even the various run-ins with bandits on the way could deter her from achieving her goals. This was especially interesting to witness, as at the time, the reputation of draconic beings still hadn’t positively taken off. Perhaps in addition to her strong will, intuition was one of her best qualities. One of sư phụ’s favourite students, and also Dịch Thiên’s close sư muội [1], Dạ Nguyệt utilizes their vast martial arts and magic knowledge to her advantage. She would accompany the future heir to various martial arts competitions and make a name for herself, enough to help her earn the Grand Minister of Law’s notice and, well, I guess I don’t have much else to say about her career. Dạ Nguyệt prides herself in being the pinnacle of law enforcement in Arcane Fight. She alone has led many deviants to her prison, including fellow Huyền Nghi members. Her sense of justice has been what guides her through her adult life. The older she grows, however, the more cynical and ruthless she seems to be. But I suppose I can live with that if that is how evil can be brought to justice. It's hard to mention Dạ Nguyệt without touching on her conflict with the Shroudsea Palace. It’s not at all without reason, as the act of rebellion of one of its disciples has left deep wounds within the Society’s morale, and the Thụy Du's indifference to the whole situation only fuels the fire. Even now she still hasn’t gotten her answer as to why he decided to snatch the most unambiguously dangerous evildoer from the law - but I suppose his attitude towards her is a clearer answer than any spoken word. Sometimes I would ask myself if what happened to the Shadowlurker and Nhược Thủy was truly the pinnacle of justice, but that is, frankly, outside of my judgment, and in a sense, I truly believe that they should have suffered more for their victims to truly rest under the Yellow Spring. |

____True to her identity as a punisher, Dạ Nguyệt is one of the best chain whip users, and wouldn’t go anywhere without her treasured Iron Thorn which could be seen tied around her waist. Whenever she left the prison, the whip would frequently be drenched in blood.W E A P O N S K I L L S ____Clear Jewel Seal: Absorbs opponent’s magical powers during magic-based attacks. This is a palm technique, requiring her to hold out her hand in front of her opponent, debilitating them. ____The Walk Of Kings: Celestial Hall’s signature mid-air quickstep technique, characterized by rapid, long strides. Dạ Nguyệt's version involves the manipulation of airflow that can inflict certain sensations on her opponents, such as perception changes and slowing. |
