BIOGRAPHY

The iridescence-clad, diamond-pale Imperial was adopted by the Mirroreyes, one of the royal clans of Tourmaline, as a newly hatched dragon. Where he lived, every corner was lavishly decorated with golden furniture and ornaments carved out of the rarest gemstones. There was also a library stocked full of books about philosophy and astronomy, which he would visit regularly to study. Born a free spirit at heart, he paid little attention to the power struggle within the clan. While his siblings were fighting for the clan leader’s approval, he spent most of his time cooped up in the safety of his luxurious library. Perhaps that was the reason why he became more and more forgettable in his parents’ eyes. They gave him the title of Prince just to show him off to their vassal clans, and as soon as he grew into an adult, they sent him away to rule a secluded mountain named Celestian, along with carts loaded with books from the library that would eventually be abolished. The Prince of Tusitan was contented, however, as he needed neither servants nor fame, and he went on to build his own library consisting of five chambers deep within the caverns.

One day, the Prince’s parents came to visit him, bringing along a serene dragon with star-kissed scales, and brilliant green eyes staring at him as if he wasn’t there. A tattered monk’s garb wrapped around her body like armour, and her breaths were icy.

I have arranged for the two of you to become mates. Akimcanya suits you very well.

The Prince of Celestian was dumbstruck. How could someone who was surrounded by an aura of pure, undisturbed tranquility be someone else’s mate? Especially when Akimcanya didn’t even seem interested in him. On the first day at his lair, the only thing she uttered to him was to ask for a kettle of tea and a pen, along with some paper. She stayed up through the entirety of that night near the oil lamp, picking out tea leaves and laying them on the parchment, her mouth chanting something mysterious. No matter what the Prince said, she just wouldn’t budge from her seat.

This repeated for two more nights, with the Prince having to bring food to her desk and being met with tepid nonchalance. On the fourth night, the Abbess finally put the kettle away. When asked, she only said:

I’m trying to predict my fate. It was a little trick taught to me by my mentor at the monastery, just in case my faith faltered. Ever since being banished, I’ve been feeling like I’m about to die.

Abbess Akimcanya insisted on never acknowledging anything around her, and nor did the Prince of Celestian care about worldly affairs outside his scriptures. Celestian was quiet through four seasons. Years went by in a blink, and yet another winter arrived when disaster struck. Disputes around a ceremonious pillar caused the vassal clans to rebel. Within several days, other rival clans also joined in, and war broke out. Blinding beams and smoke lightened up the starry horizon as if the sun had fallen. The Prince, informed of the upheaval, tried to get his mate to leave her chamber, only to be met with a frigid voice: “You go. I’m staying. Don’t look for me.

As the roars of warriors and the clashing of weapons closed in, the Prince, not wanting to leave his mate behind, piled rocks all around his lair’s entrance and destroyed his emblem displayed outside. He holed up inside the cave with the intention of waiting until the bloodshed was over. In this enclosed space, amid the musty scent of old books, the smell of burned tea leaves grew stronger.

During this time, one of the strongest, most vicious clans in the Mirrorlight Promenade seized control of the region. They accused the royal clan of conspiring against the central power of Tourmaline Archives, and demanded them to sacrifice their leader. The patriarch, thinking that the royal of Celestian had fled his lair, had brought up his name and claimed that he would be the clan leader to buy time. The renegade clan ordered his troops to surround Celestian. They caught the Prince and scheduled him for execution by burning.

The Prince of Celestian was still clueless until the end. However, he stayed defiant, not breathing a single word about his family, nor did he confirm or deny his heirship. And even when he was led to the stake, he didn’t look once at his cave, where Abbess Akimcanya was still residing, her existence unknown to the enemies. Dry wood was set ablaze. Blades of fire ate away at his pristine scales, leaving behind amber flesh and pieces of charred skin. The prince looked towards the sky, where smoke consumed his vision and painted the azure above with a blood-smeared handprint.

A growl woke him up. The stake was knocked over by a blast of magic. A shadow of a dragon charged at him like an obsidian whirlpool. Before he could understand what was going on, he had been carried away. Her blood soaked his wings, dripping onto the forest bed like blooming flowers. There was no going back. Everything was lost, and yet the Prince of Celestian felt so calm under the protection of that tattered robe.

They ran, leaving behind the mountaintop that once bore his name, and burying the remnants of an idle life under layers of gold dust…

Perhaps that was the beginning of the end. The end that none of us was aware of, yet I firmly believe we have been through.

Said the Abbess. In her hands were blocks of stone covered in intricate inscriptions of a forgotten world. The Prince of Celestian looked on as stars fell around them, feeling the urge to write down his musings about the impermanence of life. Both of them had been through so much that they could only appreciate a new beginning, and that was what they had decided. Seeking refuge on a foreign island, studying some magic, like the universe had wanted them to do.

The Abbess looked at him. Her green eyes contrasted the fuchsia aurorae behind so nicely.

Sư phụ is widely known as the patriarch of Huyền Nghi and the founder of the Society, however dragons from the clan knew that Sư nương was the deciding factor.
Sư phụ is well-respected, soft-spoken yet firm, and often puts others’ well-being above his own.
He is in charge of keeping all clan members in line, arranging jobs, places to live, and things to do for them.
It almost seems he’s making up for his lack of interest in leadership as a youth.
One thing is for sure, though - he is rarely seen in the lair’s main library.
