B I O G R A P H Y xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx “Childe Triêu Nhật came looking for me out of the blue, right when I was settling some business with Sunwheel automation shop - honestly, you scared me half to death. I thought Celestian Hall was here to scold me about something else. Although, I’m grateful that you’ve given me another chance to explain and elaborate myself; an opportunity that I dare not refuse. Back then, it is true that I knowingly accompanied Diễm Dương to Waterless Island. Actually, I was actively supporting his decision to impersonate his master. In all my time knowing him, in fact, it’s not that unlikely for me to shut down his plans - he’d always come up with the most stupid ideas anyone could ever conjure. He’s always been an idiot.” “But not this time. This time, I did not consider him at all ignorant of logical facts. Quite the opposite - his idea got me intrigued. I’d thought that if everything went well, it would only benefit his master’s family, him, myself, and even Huyền Nghi. So, do you think that because of this, I am undeserving of the ‘prodigy’ nomenclature you’ve generously bestowed upon me?” “I think convincing sư nương to not appoint me as the head of Sunwheel automation shop was a proper punishment for my misdoings - I was expecting something way worse. Still, I was going to turn down the offer anyway. The automation style of Sunwheel was not something I’m particularly interested in, or good at. Yes, I made Đại Nguyên’s prostheses, but they were nowhere near as good as sư nương’s, and only served to replace his integumentary system.” “I just vastly prefer my customized weapons. If I have to rank, I’d put weapons over body augmentation, over architectural structures of any sort.” “Well, that is all that I feel the need to explain. Do tell me if you want - if you can find me, that is. I sincerely hope you won’t hate me for this, but I don’t have a set automation shop to work at. My constant travelling means I might not know where I end up, and please, don’t bother the other Waterless guys for this. They don’t know any better than I do.” “Although If I am allowed to request a favour, may I ask childe Triêu Nhật to tell me, at the very least, what my sister writes in her scroll?” “…No?” |

H I S T O R Y When Uy Lâm’s family first migrated to the Isles, dracolism was still considered an oddity. Treasured by his parents since he was young against all odds, Uy Lâm and his sister grew up in a relatively well-off clan of traders just outside of Kim City. Having been traveled long and far ever since he was a toddler, Uy Lâm was used to the changing climates, the differences in customs, and the wiliness of people. One thing that set him apart, though, was his initial interest in automatons and prodigious intelligence. When he was nine, Uy Lâm started making simple things out of scrap metal - things that could operate on their own using wind, water, and later on, small amounts of dragon magic. His parents were quick to show his inventions off to the local merchants, and soon enough the good words reached the nearby noble family. The family was prestigious, with members having been highly honoured by the imperial government. The youngest son of the family, Kanglong, was also a dragonling, and in a way, getting the two boys to know each other was a reassurance to the nobles. What they didn’t expect was the fact that Uy Lâm ended up being much closer to one of their servants - one that they may have not remembered the name of, even. There was a period in which Uy Lâm came to live at the mansion, researching and installing a system of mechanical traps outside of the patriarch and the sons’ bedroom. This was when his talent started to truly shine. Unfortunately, the project had to be abandoned when Kanglong set out to the Northwestern Suburbs. The details afterward were… hazy at best, and none of the noble family wanted to speak to me when I visited them. From what I gathered, Kanglong actually fell ill and passed away shortly after he made his travel, with no one by his side to witness, even servants. His communication with Huyền Nghi was also entirely withheld from everyone else. As the youngest son and a “deviant”, the youth might not have been as favoured by his parents as they had acted - I must guess. In any case, I believe Diễm Dương and Uy Lâm never actually got involved until the second letter from Lady Summergale came. And just like his childhood companion, Uy Lâm is currently trying his best to distance himself from us. Celestian Hall does not want to pressure those from other Sects into associating with us, of course, but I feel like it is still such a shame he has to squander his own ingenuity like this. Uy Lâm is not currently tied to any workshop, major or minor, even though the Imperial court and his own Society could use a little bit of his mastery in implementing defense systems. In any case, he mostly specializes in making weaponry and transforming machines, which is also cool I guess. |
