The Fortress of Ends' resident cats are hosting a big contest to see which dragons are the Best in Sornieth (according to cat standards). Dragons must perform a number of feats from athletics and art, to architecture and culinary skills. Winner will be crowned best dragon in Sornieth (as decided by cats)... but keep your wits about you, a mystery may be afoot. Dozens of fantastic prizes available!


What is This?

This is a free-to-enter passive event in which you assign stats and abilities to a dragon in sign-up! Each day during gala, you will receive a ping with a description of how your dragon did that day, along with all of the other things that may have transpired. Each day's challenge will have a different theme!

You can influence how well your dragon is doing by optionally participating in a daily After-Hours Event, which is a quick choose-your-own-adventure-esque answer to a prompt, submitted via google forms.

If you're lucky and make all of your decisions wisely, your dragon could take home a large number of valuable prizes! (And some bragging rights.)

What is the Blanket Fort of Ends?

The Blanket Fort is an ice dom fundraiser program that has really quite taken off in the last year! It's an RNG collectibles game where users pay small amounts of treasure to receive pixel art of our beloved resident cats.

It is described in the thread as follows:
Hidden deep within the Icewarden’s cold and foreboding Fortress of Ends is another fort… a smaller, softer, cozier fort, filled with pillows and toy mice and cardboard boxes. This fort, known as the Blanket Fort of Ends, is home to a colony of cats who spend their days helping the Icewarden with little jobs like carrying messages, patrolling the grounds, and even balancing finances.

Each day of the week brings a new task, all of which are unique abilities that the cats believe that all dragons should possess.

  Dragons perform the ultimate feats of magical prowess in this challenge of great wizardry.

Introduction

As the eclipse begins, dragons from all over Sornieth begin to gather around the Fortress of Ends. Among the tents and stalls and crowds of fascinated dragons and hatchlings looking up at the sky, you notice a slightly Smaller tent, staffed by a small group of cats with clipboards and nametags. You figure you might as well check it out. They're awfully cute in any case!

Tulip > Hey! You! Do you think that you might be the BEST DRAGON EVER??

Of course you do. Why wouldn't you?

Hopscotch > We're trying to find the best dragon in Sornieth. We've asked some of our most reliable friends what qualities the best dragon ever might have, and if you think you have those qualities you should sign up!

Tulip > I think dragons should be strong and brave!!! And good at giving pats!!

Hopscotch > :o

The cats motion you over to the little table to sign up. You crouch down and attempt to write your information on a clipboard the size of your hand.

Comet > Hmm it does seem you might be a little large for this. Don't worry, I'll help you get signed up.

Magic means scrying, which could be greatly helpful in finding Toby! Whenever there's a problem, mages are always the first people to ask. You tell Mia you're going to try the mage's tower.

Mia > That seems like a very good plan! I'm sure Snowglobe can help you out. He's a very good mage.

It takes a bit of time to orient yourself using the maps, but you eventually make your way to a tall tower in the fort where the mages do their magic. Desks and shelves of books, vials and jars of sparkling dusts and liquids, incense and other clutter fill the room. The dragon mages seem to be gone for the evening, out enjoying the festivities, but a little white cat is lying down in the center of the room, reading an old handwritten spellbook. Snowglobe doesn't seem to notice your presence, but as you step to approach, a sparkling cat with a coat like the night sky materializes through the window and begins to speak.

Fate > Greetings, visitor. Is there magic that you might need?

You tell the cats that you are trying to find Toby. Have they seen him? And if not, could they possibly use some scrying magic to find out where he might have gone?

Fate > Ah, that sounds like something Snowglobe could do. He can't hear you, but I can translate for you. :3

Snowglobe speaks to you in cat sign language, an obscure but very important cat language.

Snowglobe, signing > Hello! I have not seen Toby, but I don't leave the tower much so it's no surprise.

Fate > I saw Toby a couple of days ago preparing for the festivals. He seemed to be looking for something. I haven't seen him since, though. Anyway, you wanted to try scrying?

You nod. You sure do!

Snowglobe, signing > I offer scrying services at five hundred treasure per session, but I am not opposed to scrying for a tasty treat or other exciting thing.

You fish through your pockets and offer Snowglobe either some treasure, or some trinket that might be of interest. He leads you over to a large bowl which he fills with a particularly clear water. Snowglobe casts a bit of a spell, spins it around, and an image of Toby appears before you! He's sleeping in a cardboard box. You can't get enough of a view to tell where he is though.

Snowglobe, signing > It seems Toby might be sleeping in a box right now. Unfortunately, there are a Lot of boxes in the fortress of ends, so I couldn't tell you which box he is sleeping in.

Fate > At least it seems he is perfectly fine, just napping.

Well, you've learned something useful today. And you also feel a bit magically rejuvenated having spent some time surrounded by mages. Gain +1 Magic.

After opening their second round bottle, colorful flowers made of smoke swirl up towards the ceiling. In the third round, this dragon created a gene that added nice stripes and spots to its wings. Today was tiring.... Explosions are too much excitement... You decide that you've had enough of all of that and you're going to curl up for a nap.

Chamomile > Very good.. Naps are great, everyone should take more of them. I don't see why dragons don't sleep more than they already do.

If your cauldron recently exploded on you, it was a good decision to rest. You re-gain all of the -1 attributes that were caused by your exploding. If your cauldron did not recently explode, you have a nice nap, but you don't really get anything special out of it.

Mia > That's reasonable.... You're probably not wrong.... Still worrying though.

You figure you'll keep an eye out while you're in the dungeon tomorrow at the least. If you were a cat, where would you spend 7 days sleeping..... Hmm..... Gain +1 Creativity.
