It had long, fluffy fur, and for a moment Coppice was tempted to pet it. But the way it stared at her made her uneasy, and Coppice decided it was better to leave it alone. Instead she turned her attention to the door on the other side of the room. Coppice didn't know if it was locked, but given everything else in this dungeon, it likely was. Then the cat shifted, and Coppice noticed something shiny under the cat's paw. A key, perhaps? Or maybe another amethyst, or maybe trouble. Either way, it looked like Coppice would have to approach the cat anyways. Moving slowly so as to not startle the cat, Coppice reached out and tried to slip the shiny object out from underneath its paw.

Luckily, gears were a very commonly hoarded commodity in his clan, so he knew exactly where to find some.

And the door is open. Fortunately, the brown furry creature is sleeping comfortably. You decide to keep moving and get out of the room before the creature wakes up. The creature stirs, and you decided that fast is the key here. You rush past the creature at full gallop, with wings giving a little extra push. You just narrowly manage to close your wings enough to make it through the doorway at the other end of the corridor. Slamming the door behind you, it takes a moment to be able to hear anything over the sound of your heart pounding in your ears. There is a grand door with many complex mechanisms across it. A row of gears ticks slowly along the right side, and many little rods and shift and pivot along the face. Papers are strewn about the room. Above the door is a thin line in the ceiling, in the shape of a square. You can:

Study the papers. The diagrams seem to have a repeating pattern that is not matched exactly by the door. Perhaps replacing a few of the gears would get the mechanism working properly. (Quest: Send 5 copper gears.)
Climb above the door. The ceiling seems pretty high, you might need a boost. (Quest: Send 5 dragons to help boost you up to the ceiling.)
Jam the moving gears. With force. You leave your lunch out of it this time.

He wasn't too keen on forming a group with them, but decided he could put up with this weirdness until they found their way out of this place. Plus, the poor Bogsneak actually thought he was a frog. He introduced himself as Calypso, and started studying the odd assortment of gears and whatnot. Instead of trying to fix the mechanism or get up above the door, he opts for the simpler solution; forcefully jamming the gears.

After finding some more delicious berries and some meat, it turned back to the jam… only to find it gone. Another vibration reverberates through the door and it was then I noticed: The floor was alive! But it seemed to have satisfied his craving for jam right now and after a little shift from it, the door popped right open. I found myself in another room with an amazing looking, quite complex mechanism sitting in the farthest corner. There was paper everywhere on the floor. Forget the trust issues and strange floor monsters, the one running this place needed a cleaning crew, a.s.a.p. To help them out a little, I started gathering some of the papers and ‘by chance’ had a look at them. They were filled with some diagrams and as I kept staring at it, I noticed a repeating pattern to it. It actually matched that mechanical door right in front of me. Perhaps replacing a few of those gears would do the trick and get the mechanism working properly again? I’m not that bad with my hands either, so I decided to give it a try.
