Midnight nodded, "Good idea Var dragon. Midnight and Scratch look with Var dragon for best home for Var dragon. Right Scratch?"

Scratch snored gently on Var's shoulder.

Midnight rolled his eyes and wiggled about, moving his tail over to Scratch and gently poking him until the psywurm stirred. "Scratch! Finding new home for Var dragon, yes? Good idea, yes?"

The psywurm nodded then weny back to napping.

"Is all settled then!" Midnight said as he clapped his hands, "what things Var dragon likes? Places Var dragon want to be?"

Var looked at Midnight shyly. He didn't always know the answers but he knew what Midnight was asking.

"Var likes it not too hot. Var likes trees and flowers. Var likes beaches and woods. Var likes lakes and rivers. Var likes fishies and ami...ami...aminals."

Var grinned proudly and then continued.

"Var likes Midnight and friends and Scratch and shiny things and white things and Var likes his hat and moonlight and dancing and love and romance and music..."

"Var is a wise dragon indeed to like such things," midnight said with a gentle grin, "many of dose tings sounding like nature land would be nice. Has Var dragon seen Gladekeeper land? Is much green. Midnight getting much tangled in vines often. But warm and pretty"

"What Var like most of all..." Var spoke softly, "what Var like most of all is Midnight and his friends coming to see Var. Needs to be...somewhere Midnight like too."

Midnight blushed lightly, "Var dragon is very sweet. Midnight and Scratch will always visit Var dragon. Var dragon is also welcome to visit home lair anytime. Goo drool dragon much likes when Var dragon visits. Gooey one not leaving cave so often so visitors always nice. No place to far to see friends. C: "

Thunder rumbled again, shaking the shack to its foundations. "This best weather getting?" The spiral asked, "Midnight not wanting to see what worst like."

"Worst weather is when the factory is busy. Lots of flash boom. Very much flash boom." Var stopped speaking and tilted his head to one side. "Var not very good at travel lots. Too many dragons mean to Var. Var will come visit any time, come see Gooey and Midnight. Need be close to Gooey and Midnight."

Var smiled at Midnight. He had an idea.

"Midnight friend have coin? Heads is Rocky place with many shiny Var has heard. Tails is green pretty place with vines."

"That is why Midnight and Scratch being with you! No mean dragons with us around! C; " midnight grinned then tgought about Var's next words.
Hmm. Where would Var be happiest? Lots of food would be great but would Var get tangled in the vines and lost? But would he have a hard time digging and finding food in the cliffs of the earthshaker? The spiral frowned as he thought about the issue. One was full of food the other quiet and calm.
Finally he came to a decision and pulled a coin out of his white bag and flipped it.
The flip was all for show; this coin always landed heads.

Midnight feigned surprise, "Looking like fates have being spoken Var dragon: high cliffs being best for new home."

Var smiled at Midnight. This was good. If there are many shiny things, he eould have lots of gifts for his friends. Including Mr Midnight.

"High cliffs and shiny things Mr Midnight? We go find home for Var?"

The dark blue dragon smiled warmly. What was it about this slow dragon that brough out the best in him? Why did he want to help this fluffy beast so much? It definitely wasnt because he was Bruiser's boy. Bruiser had plenty of hatchlings and Midnight never worried about them.
No. There was something different about this dragon.
Was this what friendship felt like?

Midnight shuffled around several items from his bags and emptied out one of them. He then handed the empty bag to Var, "Stuff will be needing to be packed. Here Var dragon, use dis. Midnight can carry all that not fit into Var dragons new bag."

Var stared wordlessly at Midnight and gave him a huge grin. Mr Midnight was very special.

"Thank you Mr Midnight. Var not have much. Just my treasures..." Var gestured to the items that Midnight had given him in the past. He carefully picked them up and placed them into the bag, counting under his breath to make sure he hadn't forgotten anything. He slung the bag over his shoulder and pulled his hat on.

"Mr Midnight? You know where we go? You lead the way?" Var smiled at him and ushered his familiar out into the lightning storm, holding the door out of Midnight's way so they could travel together...
