Var sat by the side of the water, waiting for Midnight to join him. It was cool and clear and tasted fresh. There were even some reeds to snack on.

What was keeping Mr Midnight so long?

((XD im sorry. Ive sat down at least 6 times, trying to think of a good reply but ive come up blank. Im so rusty at rping. That and ive never been good at writing. Sorry for all the commas. Rofl. XD ))

Midnight broke the surface of the water, gasping and coughing. He struggled to swim to the bank where Var was, not expecting his full bags to weigh him down as much as they did.
He had seen Goo and Bruiser swim with ease dozens of times. Goo often lazily swam in local lakes to look for algae sludge, her favorite meal, and Bruiser absolutely cut through the water, zooming so fast he left a gigantic spray behind him. But Bruiser was stronger then any mirror Midnight had met and was as skilled in the water as he was in the air.

Midnight was not that strong. The spiral's head sunk under the placid water and he fought to push his head up again.

Coughing and gasping he finally made it to the shore and tiredly hauled himself up next to his fluffy friend. Midnight gasped and sputtered, water poured off his head and dripped from his bags. He attempted to act normal and casually said to his companion, "is nice time to swim Var dragon. Wateer veery...refreshing." the dark spiral opened one of his bags, pouring out the contents. Seaweed, waterlogged lillys, shellfish and, of course, a lot of water, tumbled onto the soft ground. "Midnight happen to find Var dragon food while Midnight look for meal. Var dragon not minding, yes?"

Var grinned at his friend. Midnight had bought him food! Var was always hungry...

"Oh Mr Midnight, Var not see you! Var not go in water. Var not swim. Var fur smell funny after get wet too. Thank you for bring Var food Mr Midnight! Var eat a lot. Maybe that why Var so big!" Var grinned and held out his hands for the food.

"Mr Midnight...? We sit here for while ok? Is warm here and Mr Midnight shouldn't fly while wet."

Midnight nodded sagely, "Var dragon very smart indee--EEEEEEE!!!" he screeched shrilly, his whole body stiffening up in his shocked pain. He had left the end of his tail in the water and he pulled it out now, glaring at the large-ish fish attached. "Midnight not wuurm!" He growled grumpily at the fish before eating the offending creature. "Is what chomp fish derserve," the spiral muttered with his mouth full of food.

Var giggled at the fish and turned away as Midnight was eating. Poor Mr Fishy. But poor Mr Midnight too. He supposed it would be ok to eat animals that try to eat you...

"Var dragon not so smart. Var dragon just like the sun...Mr Midnight likes the sun too?" Var turned back to Midnight and helped Scratch onto a warm rock to sunbathe, scratching him gently on the head. Scratch trilled happily and lay on the rock happily.

"Scratch friend like sunbathing. Midnight dry out a bit like wurm. Is ok doe, wurms yummy too. XD " the spiral patted Var on the shoulder. "Var dragon smart," he said gently, "Var dragon survive harsh world. Live many places. Live as different dragon. Var survive. Var smart. Odder dragons foolish for not be seeing Var dragon talents."
The spiral looked back and fourth, getting his bearings. Far in the distance he coukd make out the tall spiresof his homeland. The earthshaker's land was next to the magic filled arcane lands.

Var swallowed. No one was ever this nice to him. It was nice to have friends. He felt very lucky.

"Mr Midnight, tell Var about your home? Var want to see Midnight home soon." Var smiled, wanting to hear all about Mr Midnight and GooeyGirl and his Momma and Daddy.

The dragon nodded, "Var dragon see home lair when come visit for coins game. Is in magic land with taaaall rocks. Home lair aaaaallll the way at bottom where udder dragons find. Midnight lair home has chests for Midnight tings. Goo dragon sleeping on her tables, Strong Bruiser dragon keep looking out while udder dragon sleeps. Stardust leader convince many dragons to join lair. Make lair huge. But most dragons not stay long. Numbers for looks only. Dat all really." He looked up, suddenly remembering, "oh. And spooky skeleton dragon come when dragon in lair die. Is weirding Midnight out every time."
For some reason a lot of dragons came to the lair to die. Maybe they knew it was a safe place. Maybe it was part of some sort of agreement between them and Stardust.
Who knew?
The only thing Midnight knew was Stardust's nest was full of dragon skulls and no one dared go near it.

"Mr Midnight, can we go see GooeyGirl before we go to new home? Var want to say hi to Gooey and talk to Daddy and Momma...just to splain bout new home..."

Var turned to Midnight again. He could see that the Spiral was not happy lying in the sun. Maybe he'd be happier flying home to rest for a bit.

Midnight nodded and stood up, checking to see how dry his bags were, "if that is Var dragons want then of coursing we can go. Not sure if mudder dragon at lair home, not see mudder dragon for many moon cycle but strong Bruiser and Goo dragon alvays at lair home. We see dem, den go see earthshake land. It make easy remember path for Var dragon to visit again. <3"
He put on his damp bags, layering them one by one, "we go? Var dragon keep Scratch friend warm again?"
