Var grinned as he saw Scratch and gently patted him. Var had been told his hugs were too tight so he was extra gentle with little guys like Scratch. He nuzzled lightly at Scratch and spoke softly.

Scratch scurried up Var, resting on top of the dragons head and pointed into the howling darkness. He chittered in distress and hid behind Var's ear as lightening flashed again.

Var took a breath, nodding to himself. Somewhere out there was his friend. He needed to help him. He started to walk forward, the feather on his hat dancing in the static.
"You call for him Scratch. You call."

Feeling a burst of bravery because of his friend's Scratched scampered aroubd Var's neck a few timed before standing on the dragon's nose tip and pounding on his own chest. He made a small trumpeting sound as he scurried back to Var's head and pointed into the desert. "Squeeeeee!" He said, roughly translating to "chaaarge!"
He squeaked again as they took off, calling out for Midnight, but his small calls were easily silenced by the wind and lightening. The small psywurm quietly cursed at Var's choice of living and wished the dragon lived somewhere calmer before calling out into the night again.

Meanwhile Midnight was in a stupid blind panic and running in circles checking under rocks for his friend.
Aside from the odd argument he hadnt been separated from Scratch since they met.
Without the psywurm he was lost.

Var shuffled away a bit and let go of Scratch. The little guy didn't seem to be hurt so he lowered his head to let Scratch climb down, smiling at Midnight.
