Ohh Andru, I wonder what you did to get yourself locked away.

An alphabet legacy with just ancients is sure interesting! Having both of them as NPCs could be cool, especially since it'll mean you'll have at least two more dragons who'll make it to the end of the Challenges.

@Disillusionist

I love Andru so much, I can't wait to write more of him! He's such a fun little guy!

Thank you! I hope things will let up soon too!

@Kayfox

That was some good snooping around to make that connection! After my mail day, I have an apparel pull, so I can put them on a nest pretty quick...

@Lixue

Only time will tell...

I think I will make them NPCs! I was realizing as I was finalizing bios for my K generation that it's nice to have the whole line laid out in Adriel's bio, so I could track it in both of their bios as well!

She had noticed him leave in the early hours of the morning, trying to slip away discreetly. Kirin has always been a quiet dragon, always deep in thought. He had become rather serious since an accident that had almost killed him as a hatchling, and despite Kalak’s best efforts, she was unable to pull him out of it. “No one was supposed to see me go,” Kirin frowned, stopping in his tracks. “Are you… leaving the clan?” Kalak asked, realization dawning on her. Kirin sighed. “Do you remember what I told you about when we were kids? When I almost died, and I saw the train and the wildclaw? I haven’t been able to get him off my mind. I feel… called to something.” “Like a charge feeling?” Kalak tilted her head. “Sort of. Not quite. Same in the way of that it feels like destiny, like something I am supposed to do. But it’s not a charge, it’s something else,” Kirin explained. “I met another guardian while out hunting. She carries a scythe, like the wildclaw I saw getting off the train, and she told me about The Reapers, and how they help ferry the dead to the afterlife. I want to do that. So I am going to join The Disciples of Lavender, where Bloodrush lives, and she’s going to teach me how to be a reaper.” “Wow! So your dream was real then!” Kalak exclaimed. “I get it!” “I always knew it wasn’t a dream, no matter what our parents said.” Kirin confirmed. “Look, you won’t tell them I’m gone until after I go, right? I don’t want anyone to stop me.” “Cross my heart,” Kalak said, making a motion over her chest. “Just promise me you’ll come back to visit, I’m going to miss you.” “Yeah, of course,” Kirin said, though Kalak was unsure if he meant it. Kalak watched her brother go, wondering if she was ever going to see him again. She felt a tug. The siblings had grown more distant as they grew up. Kor had found themselves hanging out more and more with their aunt Jolly and cousin Kelly, leaving Kalak on her own. Now Kirin was chasing his own destiny. Perhaps it was time for Kalak to find something outside the family too. She wouldn’t leave of course, she loved her clan too much. Besides, she wanted to help her parents with their goals of spreading peace and uniting the factions. But maybe there was something else out there too, something to enhance her life. A purpose, like Kirin’s dream of being a reaper. She did not have much time to dwell on the thought, however, as she began to notice an obelisk descending towards her. He lighted down in front of her, and the first thing she noticed was how the patterns on his scales reminded her of the patterns on her grandpa Izel’s scales. It was then she caught sight of the mail bag, and she realized this must be her great-great-uncle Valoo, the mail carrier. She had heard her dad speak of him often, and he had theorized he would come to visit soon. “Hey kiddo, is your dad around?” Valoo asked. “I have a letter for him.” “You know who my dad is?” Kalak asked, surprised. “Your scales look just like his,” Valoo noted. “And you have similar colours to the skydancer I saw him talking to last year before I interrupted.” “Oh, yeah! Let me take him to you!” Kalak exclaimed. “I suppose you mean my father Joshe and not my father Ouro?” “The very same!” Valoo grinned. “And hey, do you know if he’s cooking anything up tonight? I’ve worked up quite the appetite flying over here!” Joshe opened the letter from his brother, eager to read its contents. He had so much news to announce to Jacinto, with the arrival and growth of his children. But most of all, he was excited to see how the past year had treated him.
Joshe, I'm sorry to hear about how many were lost during the Night of the Nocturne, but I am glad to hear that our family made it through safe and sound. We did not suffer any such casualties here, thankfully, but our clan guard is exhausted from their hard work keeping the mimics at bay. I think it is well past time I lent them my strength. That aside, I am truly sorry for your loss. May all their souls find peace, wherever they are. As for my charge, I've spoken with the three sages of my clan—long-time advisors to the clan leaders, able to peer into the future through various means. They told me: “We wind our way along a mountain path. Should the mountain crumble, so too would our path, and we would be lost.” “From the skies we were delivered a Reminder, and from the earth a Guardian.” “You and Zephira are a pair, two halves of one whole, bound not by the heart but in the soul. Together, you shape the future of this clan.” I have some suspicions about what my charge may be, given their words, but I'm seeking the insight of some other dragons first to see if they have any additional thoughts. Whatever the case, I suspect my charge is not someone or something physical, which would explain why it has been... hard to pinpoint. I would love to hear any thoughts you might have on the matter, but otherwise I wish you the best. I will remain here, if that is your wish, but know that you and everyone else are in my thoughts constantly. Keep well, stay safe. -Jacinto
Joshe formulated his response.
Jacinto, Thankfully, it has been a peaceful year since Night of the Nocturne. We have gad time to recover emotionally, and prepare for the remaining four years of the ritual. I am certain we are not out of the woods yet, but I am glad to have this time of peace. I have two partners now. A skydancer named Jubilee has joined Ouro and I. We have three children now, and they are my pride and joy. We have a daughter, Kalak, a son, Kirin, and a nonbinary child, Kor. It has been wonderful to watch them grow and discover who they are. None of them have found their charges as far as I am aware, but there is plenty of time for that and they seem happy as they are. That’s what matters. I hope the challenges do not break them too much, they all did very well in the Challenge of Ice. I am glad to hear progress in your search for your charge. It sounds as though your situation is a fascinating one. I am eager to hear the results once you figure it out, and I am curious how your fate is connected to this Zephira. If I had to guess, based on the information you have given me, I would guess it to be maybe the concept of a clan rather than the dragons in it, or the physical location your clan is in. Though, that is only my wild guessing, only you can truly define and discover it. I wish you well, know I think of you often too, and wonder what it would have been like to grow up alongside you. I hope you stay safe and well, and I hope I get the opportunity to meet you face to face someday. Joshe
  Jarna could hardly sit still as she ripped open the letter. Her brother had found more tales of the outside world, that is what Joshe had told her, and she could not wait to devour the words as if she were a hungry lion.
Jarna, I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the last accounts I got for you! I greatly enjoy finding dragons willing to share their stories, too—I haven't spoken much with most of my clanmates, despite Zephira's urging and how long I've been here, and this is a good way to get to know some of the dragons here in the Wayward Winds. I was only able to wrangle one, from the Ashfall Waste, this time around, but if there's a particular flight you'd like to hear about next, let me know! Wishing you safe winds and open skies, -Jacinto

Jarna- Jacinto has asked for an account of my time in the Ashfall Waste. I feel that my experience was fairly mundane, and could be found in any of the flights, but I will not deny him. When I was a Mirror and my mate, Maudy, a Tundra, we won favor with the Flamecaller. I sought out hotspots where magma flowed near the surface, and Maudy was able to track down some of the rarer ores just by their scent. For our services, we were granted a stretch of land upon which to build a clan for the glory of the Flamecaller. Which we did, for quite some time. Unlike many clans in the Ashfall Waste, however, we did not focus our efforts solely on smiths and artisans. They were welcome, of course, but we sought dragons from all over Sornieth with an assortment of talents, to bring other much needed professions closer to our fellows. Weavers, tinkerers, builders—I myself am an alchemist by trade. We made our name in the flight by bringing these necessities closer to home. Ah, but the Wastes themselves. A hot, unforgiving place—though in a different way from the Scarred Wasteland, from what I know. It is a land of eternal twilight. The sun is shrouded in smoke and ash, and the night is alight with the glow of forges. It is really quite a beautiful sight, though the thick air takes some getting used to, and one must always watch their step. And the heat… Eleven, the heat. Even fire-born as I am, there were days when it was almost too much to bear. I suspect the only reason Maudy lasted as long as he did is because of his innate fire magic. I suppose, thinking about it, there is a fairly individual tale I could share with you. While we are far from the only dragons to be as such, Maudy and I are former Exalted of the Flamecaller. During that time in her presence, we were tasked with much the same as before our clan’s founding: seek out new forge location, tend the flames, hunt for materials, fight in her name, seek out threats to the flight, such like that. But on a much larger, grander scale. And in return, we were blessed by her magics, able to tolerate heat and flame as if it were a part of us. As I said, we are far from the only dragons to have returned from the service of one of the gods, but I’m not certain how many of them are willing to speak of their stories. Its a great honor, to be sure, and many likely do not carry the weight of their desertion lightly… I do believe that is all I have to say on the Waste, however. If there is anything else you wish to know from me, do be sure to let Jacinto know, and I will answer to the best of my ability. -Zaia Of the Wayward Winds Council
Jarna absorbed every word, reading the account over multiple times so as not to miss anything. It was fascinating. The fire flight was also called by the name of “wastes”, much like the Plaguelands. There were many things about the fire flight that were inhabitable to many dragons, yet the difference between the two was that while survival was difficult for everyone in the Scarred Wasteland, The Ashfall Wastes was sometimes hospitable to dragons with fire in their blood. Jarna also enjoyed the story of dragons who had served a god and later left. If only it were so easy to escape the clutches of Shui. In a way, the dragons here were “The Exalted” of Shui, even if they followed other dragons. It was only a metaphor, of course. Dragons could not exalt themselves to small gods the same way they exalted themselves to The Eleven, but the story still gave her hope that someday she would leave this wretched place. Taking a moment more to savor the story, Jarna wrote up a reply.
Jacinto, The stories you find truly do bring such excitement and wonder to the miserable lives we lead here in the Scarred Wasteland. For just a moment, it allows me to pretend I am somewhere else, living a different life. Please thank Zaia for me, I shall treasure her writings just as I did the ones you sent me last year. Really, I would love to hear any account, but I have a particular interest in The Nature Flight after hearing stories from Grandma Hime. If I could go anywhere on Sornieth, it would be there, no questions asked. I would love to hear stories from outside of the clan grandma was born in (The Refuge) as well, to see if it is as lovely as I have heard. Thanks again, you’re the best! Kor rolled their eyes, and got up to follow Kelly. Kor had been joining the other two guardians at the Proud Mary tavern regularly as soon as they were old enough that their parents let them leave the camp. Now, Jolly was going to get them a job, and they’d really be a part of the group. Just as the two guardians began to make their way over to a ridgeback’s table, the tavernkeep blocked their path. “Let me remind you I won’t have any shady business in my tavern. There is no fighting, no killing, and no discussing assassin contracts here,” Piano said. “I’m fine if you play your games and gamble away your money, that’s not hurting anyone, but I won’t have my establishment become a place where dragons have to watch their necks.” “You take all the fun out of everything,” Jolly teased. “Don’t worry, Piano, we’ll take it outside.” “You better,” Piano raised an eyebrow. “I enjoy seeing your faces around here, and I wouldn’t want to kick out some of my most loyal customers.” The mirror returned behind the counter, and Kor watched as Jolly gestured to her contact to move outside. Kor felt a thrill of excitement, mixed with nerves. This was what they were wanting, they were about to step into a life that was truly theirs. She jumped in again before her father could say another word. “No! This faction is stupid! It’s just you being weak, mom being annoying, and your own personal piggy bank! There is no excitement, and I don’t want to be the pretty princess that wears all the frills and bows mom buys for me! I want to be punk! I’m going to live with The Disciples of Lavender, and you can’t stop me! They know what it’s like to live on the wild side, not all pampered and pretty like here! Mom doesn’t even know how to make her own tea, I would rather die than be like her!” “Don’t you dare speak about your mother like that,” Saphire’s tone darkened, and Gigi knew she had struck a nerve. “I’ll speak about her how I want! See, this is what I mean! You are so weak you don’t even have your own opinions! You’re nothing more than a doll to mom, someone she can manipulate to do her every bidding. Have you no pride?” Gigi shouted. “You’ll understand when you find your own charge-” Saphire began. Gigi screamed to cut him off. “There’s a difference between protecting your charge and being a spineless fool like you! Mom doesn’t even like you! She just had me so she could have another pet to adore her, you were the only one there to provide genetics! Besides, what if I don’t want a charge? I don’t want my autonomy taken away like that! Look, I’m leaving, and that’s final! You can’t stop me!” Gigi stormed out, seething with rage. She could hear her father shouting behind her, but she did not want to hear another word. She had made up her mind, and nothing could change it. It was hard to tell what was a part of her, and what clung to her from her centuries-long trek through the Southern Icefields. She didn’t care anymore, she just knew that she couldn’t give up, not after all this time. Centuries ago, before all the modern breeds, before even the war between the gaolers and the banescales, Arctic was a loyal follower of the Icewarden, the dragon who had created her. But all that changed when her daughter went missing and her husband had been imprisoned. She could do nothing for Andru, but her daughter was out there, she had to be. Arctic had never stopped looking. She had become something of a cryptid to the modern dragons of the Southern Icefields for a while, and then gaolers emerged from the Fortress of Ends and made themselves known and Arctic simply became another frozen traveller. Many dragons had offered her shelter and a home, but she had turned them down, she could not rest until she had found her daughter. It was hard to make out shapes in this blizzard, but Arctic was soon aware of a great hulking shape emerging from the flurries. She felt his magic before she saw him properly. The Icewarden. “It’s not like you to leave your prison,” Arctic remarked. She had lived too long to feel any reverence for her father. “I have been looking for you. I have a lead on Bodil,” The Icewarden said. “Sure you do,” Arctic frowned and narrowed her eyes. “You’re a god, you’ve known where Bodil is all this time. What do you want from me in exchange for this information?” “It took some time for the news to meet me because I so rarely get news of other flights, but it appears that there is a rapscallion of a dragon who is breaking all the laws of nature and trying to ascend to godhood without the approval of the Eleven. I only discovered it after investigating a sudden exit of some of my own magic in the direction of the Scarred Wasteland. I need you to go and lock him up,” The Icewarden explained. “He deserves to be imprisoned in ice for all eternity for his crimes.” “And if I say no?” Arctic growled. “I wouldn’t mind continuing my search on my own, I certainly don’t need your help.” “It seems, in the flow of magic for the ritual this wildclaw is attempting, a certain prisoner was pulled to the plague territory,” The Icewarden hummed to himself. “If you do this for me, you will reunite not just with your daughter, but with your husband as well.” “You manipulative son of a-” Arctic swore under her breath. “I really don’t think you want to finish that sentence,” The Icewarden narrowed his eyes. “Not if you want your husband to remain released from his chains. A pardon would be in order if you succeed.” “Yeah, I’ll go. But I won’t be happy if you’re lying.” Arctic warned. “Oh, I never lie,” The Icewarden said. “I may be firm and rigid in my quest for justice, but I tell the truth. I believe I have made my terms and conditions for your little family reunion clear.” “Yes,” Arctic grumbled. “Yes, you have.” “Perfect,” The Icewarden grinned, a rare occurrence. “Now you’d best be quick. There is an iceberg that is set to break of and flow in the direction of the Scarred Wasteland very soon. I knew I could count on you. You may be stubborn, but you have always appreciated the importance of following orders.” Arctic swore under her breath again, this time making sure The Icewarden could not hear. She’d kill the man if she could, but that would be more trouble than it was worth. No, she would do his bidding, and then she and her family would move far, far away from his ice-cold clutches. ----- Next ----- @pinglist-3016 ----- Whooo! I've had this chapter half written for almost a week, and have only now had the time and energy to finish it! Mail day chapters always take a while because there is so much material to cover! Also, fun fact, Crystalline Gala Mail Day 2023 was my very first one, so we've been doing mail days for a year now! Speaking of which, I got to introduce my K generation! Kalak is going to be my heir (as you may have guessed from the fact she is my profile picture. It's been tradition for a long time that one of my current alphabet legacy pair is my avatar. Though, now I also have my gaoler alphbet legacy line to consider!). I have a couple of apparel pulls coming up next, so I plan to use one of those to buy Kalak her mate, as my next familiar pull is a long time from now. I'm also excited for Kirin and Kor! “Where are you going?” Kalak asked, chasing after her brother.

I feel… called to something.”

“Like a charge feeling?” Kalak tilted her head.

“Sort of. So I am going to join The Disciples of Lavender, where Bloodrush lives, and she’s going to teach me how to be a reaper.”

“Wow! So your dream was real then!” Kalak exclaimed. “I get it!”

“I always knew it wasn’t a dream, no matter what our parents said.” Kirin confirmed. “Look, you won’t tell them I’m gone until after I go, right? I don’t want anyone to stop me.”

“Cross my heart,” Kalak said, making a motion over her chest. “Just promise me you’ll come back to visit, I’m going to miss you.”

“Yeah, of course,” Kirin said, though Kalak was unsure if he meant it.

84847673_350.png

“Hey kiddo, is your dad around?” Valoo asked. “I have a letter for him.”

“You know who my dad is?” Kalak asked, surprised.

“Your scales look just like his,” Valoo noted. “And you have similar colours to the skydancer I saw him talking to last year before I interrupted.”

“Oh, yeah! Let me take him to you!” Kalak exclaimed. “I suppose you mean my father Joshe and not my father Ouro?”

“The very same!” Valoo grinned. “And hey, do you know if he’s cooking anything up tonight? I’ve worked up quite the appetite flying over here!”

Joshe opened the letter from his brother, eager to read its contents. He had so much news to announce to Jacinto, with the arrival and growth of his children. But most of all, he was excited to see how the past year had treated him.
Quote:
Joshe,

I'm sorry to hear about how many were lost during the Night of the Nocturne, but I am glad to hear that our family made it through safe and sound.

They told me:

“We wind our way along a mountain path. Should the mountain crumble, so too would our path, and we would be lost.”

“From the skies we were delivered a Reminder, and from the earth a Guardian.”

“You and Zephira are a pair, two halves of one whole, bound not by the heart but in the soul. Together, you shape the future of this clan.”

I have some suspicions about what my charge may be, given their words, but I'm seeking the insight of some other dragons first to see if they have any additional thoughts.

Quote:
Jacinto,

Thankfully, it has been a peaceful year since Night of the Nocturne.

Jarna could hardly sit still as she ripped open the letter. Her brother had found more tales of the outside world, that is what Joshe had told her, and she could not wait to devour the words as if she were a hungry lion.
Quote:
Jarna,

I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the last accounts I got for you!

Wishing you safe winds and open skies,
-Jacinto
Quote:
Jarna-

Jacinto has asked for an account of my time in the Ashfall Waste.

Its a great honor, to be sure, and many likely do not carry the weight of their desertion lightly…

I do believe that is all I have to say on the Waste, however. If there is anything else you wish to know from me, do be sure to let Jacinto know, and I will answer to the best of my ability.

Quote:
Jacinto,

The stories you find truly do bring such excitement and wonder to the miserable lives we lead here in the Scarred Wasteland.

Jarna

“Do you have any fives?” Kor asked Jolly, looking up from their hand.

“Go fish,” Jolly responded, sticking her tongue out at Kor.

“Well, that makes it my turn, which means,” Kelly smirked, slamming a royal flush down on the table. “I win.”

“Again,” Kor groaned. “You know, one of these days I’m going to beat you.” They vowed, handing over the pile of treasure they had bet.

“You keep telling yourself that,” Kelly laughed. “Another go?”

“Nah, I think I just saw my client walk through the door.” Jolly said, getting up. “Kor, this is the guy I was telling you about, I’ll help you get hooked up with some contacts and then you can start taking out some contracts and making more money.”

“Yeah, make some more money to end up in my pocket!” Kelly joked.

“I’m fine if you play your games and gamble away your money, that’s not hurting anyone, but I won’t have my establishment become a place where dragons have to watch their necks.”

“You take all the fun out of everything,” Jolly teased. “Don’t worry, Piano, we’ll take it outside.”

“You better,” Piano raised an eyebrow. “I enjoy seeing your faces around here, and I wouldn’t want to kick out some of my most loyal customers.”

The mirror returned behind the counter, and Kor watched as Jolly gestured to her contact to move outside. Kor felt a thrill of excitement, mixed with nerves. This was what they were wanting, they were about to step into a life that was truly theirs.

“I hate it here!” Gigi shouted at her dad.

“Gigi, calm down, we can talk this out-” Saphire tried to say, but Gigi wasn’t having it.

Mom doesn’t even know how to make her own tea, I would rather die than be like her!”

“Don’t you dare speak about your mother like that,” Saphire’s tone darkened, and Gigi knew she had struck a nerve.

You can’t stop me!”

Gigi stormed out, seething with rage. She could hear her father shouting behind her, but she did not want to hear another word. She had made up her mind, and nothing could change it.

Snow battered Arctic, clinging to her fur.

6_350.png

“It’s not like you to leave your prison,” Arctic remarked. She had lived too long to feel any reverence for her father.

“I have been looking for you. I have a lead on Bodil,” The Icewarden said.

“Sure you do,” Arctic frowned and narrowed her eyes. “You’re a god, you’ve known where Bodil is all this time. What do you want from me in exchange for this information?”

“It took some time for the news to meet me because I so rarely get news of other flights, but it appears that there is a rapscallion of a dragon who is breaking all the laws of nature and trying to ascend to godhood without the approval of the Eleven. I only discovered it after investigating a sudden exit of some of my own magic in the direction of the Scarred Wasteland. I need you to go and lock him up,” The Icewarden explained. “He deserves to be imprisoned in ice for all eternity for his crimes.”

“And if I say no?” Arctic growled. “I wouldn’t mind continuing my search on my own, I certainly don’t need your help.”

“It seems, in the flow of magic for the ritual this wildclaw is attempting, a certain prisoner was pulled to the plague territory,” The Icewarden hummed to himself. “If you do this for me, you will reunite not just with your daughter, but with your husband as well.”

“You manipulative son of a-” Arctic swore under her breath.

“I really don’t think you want to finish that sentence,” The Icewarden narrowed his eyes. “Not if you want your husband to remain released from his chains. A pardon would be in order if you succeed.”

“Yeah, I’ll go. But I won’t be happy if you’re lying.” Arctic warned.

“Oh, I never lie,” The Icewarden said. “I may be firm and rigid in my quest for justice, but I tell the truth. I believe I have made my terms and conditions for your little family reunion clear.”

“Yes,” Arctic grumbled. “Yes, you have.”

“Perfect,” The Icewarden grinned, a rare occurrence. “Now you’d best be quick. There is an iceberg that is set to break of and flow in the direction of the Scarred Wasteland very soon. I knew I could count on you. You may be stubborn, but you have always appreciated the importance of following orders.”

Arctic swore under her breath again, this time making sure The Icewarden could not hear. She’d kill the man if she could, but that would be more trouble than it was worth. No, she would do his bidding, and then she and her family would move far, far away from his ice-cold clutches.

Whooo!

Speaking of Kor, I decided it would be fun if the main gambling game in Sornieth in my lore was some mix between Go Fish and poker!

I also introduced Gigi! She has some siblings in my lair that are up for grabs if anyone wants them, I'll probably give them a few more days before exalting.

Best of luck to Kirin! That's such a cool calling; let's see how it turns out for him. [emoji=guardian star] Much as I feel bad for Saphire, Gigi's right. She hit the nail on the head -- several times, in fact. Fingers crossed she finds a Charge who's more tolerable than Pinky. Also wishing Arctic luck in taking down Shui! And reuniting with her family. That's important too. :P

Kalak watching her siblings slowly drift away must not be fun, but Kirin's sort of destiny is interesting, I wonder if he'll have the chance to become a reaper. Also! I just realized the whole K-generation survived the coin flips :0 no long lost siblings here! Unlike Jacinto.

Excited to see Arctic arrive! I'm absolutely loving her so far- sorry girl, no cursing allowed here lol.

@Disillusionist

His song fits so well with Kravitz's whole deal! I'm excited to see if I can bring them together!

Yeah, Saphire does not have a good deal with Pinky!

Yes, that is important! Now I need to find a gen 1 gaoler to be their daughter if I want to reunite the whole family... The search begins!

@Lixue

It was very excited to have all of them survive! And it's cool how their songs are taking them all in very different directions, it's the opposite of Joshe and Jarna, they have very similar lore and they are very close! But do not worry, I have plans for friends for Kalak, not to mention her mate will be coming along soon!

It's funny to imagine that the no swearing website rule is enforced by the gods. Idk if that's canon in my lore, but it's a funny concept to think about, just making swearing impossible on Sornieth.

@Sabariel

It's exciting that I've made Arctic and Andru NPCs, which means their story will probably extend beyond this locke too!
@Disillusionist

@Lixue

It was very excited to have all of them survive! He could see why Ishtar had landed a position of head of their faction, he was deeply devoted to the wellbeing of everyone in his clan, and they were just as deeply devoted to their cause of taking down Shui and eliminating dragons who take advantage of others. Andru had a lot of mixed feelings about living here. On one hand, nothing could compare to the euphoria of being free after centuries imprisoned, and he enjoyed the company of his new clanmates and appreciated the clan they had worked to build. On the other hand, all Andru wanted to do was return to the Southern Icefields and try to find Arctic and Bodil. Now that he had participated in a challenge, however, he was unable to leave for the next handful of years, and that was excruciating to think about. Even just thinking about Arctic brought her lovely scent to his nose. It took a moment to realize that the scent was not just that of a memory. Mixed among the scents of the animals that roamed the wastes and the ever-present stench of The Shade was undeniably Arctic’s scent. Andru did not know how she could be here, but he was not going to be swayed from following the scent trail. Even if it was some cruel trick, he couldn’t resist the chance it could be her. Sure enough, Andru soon caught sight of Arctic. She looked a little different than the last time he had seen her. She had spent so long wandering in the blizzards of the ice flight that ice was permanently stuck to her fur. She looked more worn, more ragged, but it was undeniably her. Andru broke into a run, and Arctic matched his pace. They collided in a giant hug, tumbling over each other. Andru stuffed his nose in her fur, breathing in her scent and enjoying just being near her after so far apart. “Your eyes have changed,” Arctic said, her weathered face softening as they pulled away. “I’ve absorbed the energy of this place, it seems,” Andru said. “Your ice is new.” “I’ve been wandering a long time. I’ve been looking for Bodil.” Arctic sighed. “She’s still missing?” Andru was alarmed. “The Icewarden has promised to help reunite us all if we do him a favour. I don’t want anything to do with him, but if this allows us to be a family again, I have to take that chance,” Arctic explained. “Then we can run far, far away from his territory and live in peace somewhere new.” “What did you promise the Icewarden you’d do?” Fear sparked through Andru’s veins. “I have to imprison a wildclaw who is trying to become a god. Shui.” Arctic’s face grew serious. Andru winced. “That is not going to be an easy task.” He remarked. “But if it brings us Bodil. I’ll help you. I’ll do anything for us.” He leaned forward and rested his head on her shoulder, as she rested hers on his. An incredible warmth filled Andru, a familiar warmth, and the next thing he knew, three eggs sat between them. It looked as though their family was about to grow even bigger. Though, it would not be complete until Bodil was back with them. Only then would everything be as it should be, and they had a long way to go until then. But, these children will also be experimented on and be made stronger, so they will be strong followers for me to help me ascend and to stop the copycats who are trying to take my rightful position from me?” “That’s exactly it. They will not be your children, not exactly, but their existence will greatly benefit you, and you can still consider them part of your bloodline provided you let Klassia and I do all the raising and experiments,” Myca said. “You know what, I like the sound of this,” Shui decided. “I trust your judgement, your experiments have never let me down. I suppose I do owe you a reward for your loyalty.” “I appreciate it, I promise this will only help you on your road to godhood,” Myca vowed. “I would expect nothing less,” Shui smirked. “Shall we get started.” It was easy, combining magic. And in the blink of an eye, three eggs sat on the ground between them. “Glacier will still have to check them over for weaklings,” Shui said. “I won’t have pathetic children bringing down my reputation.” “Oh, I’ll dispose of any weaklings myself,” Myca grinned. “You can count on me.” There was a burst of light, and two dragons appeared in the middle of the Scarred Wasteland, battered, bloodied and bruised. Their breath was laboured with effort, and their faces strained but relieved. “We did it, we got out!” The tundra exclaimed. “Patience, we did it! You’re finally free!” “We did it,” Patience agreed, though they looked less convinced than their tundra companion. “I wouldn’t have been able to do it without you, Yaga.” “Oh, you always had the ability to find freedom, I just helped you pull it out,” Yaga nudged Patience. “You’re too modest,” Patience smiled slightly. “And too optimistic. We may be free from one prison, but our journey is not yet done. I have a penance to pay for the crimes I committed in that awful, terrible game.” “No one is telling you that you have to pay for the blood you spilled,” Yaga frowned. “It is only you that is placing this burden on yourself.” “Oh Yaga, you may have freed me from one prison, but the one for my heart is not so easily lifted, even with your brilliant ability.” Patience sighed. “But I appreciate the sentiment. You are a good friend.” “I just hope that someday you can be a good friend to yourself as well,” Yaga said. “Even if that day is not today.” ----- Next ----- @pinglist-3016 ----- Andru and Arctic have been reunited, and my gaoler B generation is on its way!!! Congratulations to Andru and Arctic on their reunion and nest! *pointedly ignores Shui and Myca*

And oof, I winced a bit when I read Yaga's and Patience's intro. Out of the frying pan and into the fire. D:

Yay for more babies! Arctic and Andru are going to have some unique-looking, but beautiful babies, and Shui and Myca are going to have some stunning genetically-modified babies. Also new, characters! Patience's XXY pattern is stunning.
