After yet another long day of fighting and boosting her level to 17, Rie decided to turn back early to bring Constant out for a few fights, after looking through her loot of course. The tundra, while not becoming any less energetic, had grown quickly and she thought it were better he got started on his quest sooner rather than later.
She blew the fur out of her eyes, staring at the battle stone.
At last! Finally, I can get to dealing some real damage! She took a bit more care this time in applying the stone, relishing in the sharpness and strength she felt behind her claws as it set in.
I'll have to apply that other ambush when I get back.
"Hmm, perhaps Constant will like this." She thought out loud, tilting the sharp piece of jewelery so the sunlight bounced off it. "I'll offer it to him."
After accepting the gift from Rie, Constant was ready and excited to try fighting in the coliseum. He bounced after the gaoler, his energy as high as ever.
Rie had originally been worried that the tundra wouldn't be able to keep focused enough, but Constant's high energy and higher spirits proved to be helpful. He fought well, reaching level 11.
"Well done! To celebrate you doing so well, we should go somewhere easier and see if we can get some neat items." She said, nodding at the grey tundra. His chest swelled so much with pride Rie could swear it would burst, and he agreed happily.
"Oh, a battlestone!" Constant picked it up and showed it to Rie. "I've just got meditate and contuse, so I don't need this yet. Ya want it?" He asked. Rie looked at him before gratefully taking it. "I'll get you some neat stones when you have some physical moves, okay?" She said.
By the time the pair returned it had gotten dark. They took a moment to apply a handful of stones before sorting through their loot, which Constant was very excited for. Although there were plenty of battle items and familiars that weren't much use as usual, Rie noticed they had picked up a sap.
"We both already have one of those. Why don't we see if anyone else needs one?" Constant suggested, and Rie agreed.
Once they had finished sorting through their stuff, Constant went to go check on their familiars while Rie prepared some food. As she was sorting through a few plants they had picked up, she heard the tundra's voice. "Whadda ya have there, Pearl?" Curious, she picked up the leafy food and brought it over.
Rie's stout, which she'd allowed Constant to name Pearl, was sitting proudly by an old-looking chest. Rie sniffed it, before opening it carefully. Some junk lay inside with a handful of treasure. She was about to offer they deal with it in the morning when Constant shoved a paw inside.
"What's this?" He asked, pulling what appeared to be a magnifying glass out. Before Rie could speak he placed it up to his face, and gasped before stumbling and closing his eyes. Rie instinctively rushed to help him, but he shook his head and blinked. "I'm alright, I just got a bit dizzy." Rie nodded, stepping away, and squinted before brushing the fur from her eyes. "Um, Constant? I think something happened to your eyes."
After all of the excitement, an exhausted Constant flopped down next to his drowsy elk (whom he had named Jade) and began snoring quietly within minutes. Rie looked at him proudly, letting out a tired yawn herself.
I'm so proud of him. Not only for the levels and the genes, but for the dragon he's turning into. She felt a pang of sadness suddenly.
I wonder if we'll ever cross paths again when we're finished this quest. The thought of never seeing the energetic tundra again was one Rie wasn't fond of. She shook her head and lay down by him.
I don't need to worry about that yet. For now, I can just enjoy being his friend.
man, didn't mean for that to be so long! constant grew up so i got to bring him into the coli for the first time, which was a refreshing break from levelling rie. also got the eyes from familiar chests! i think they suit constant. hopefully tomorrow will be a little less chaotic haha
let me know if you need a sap! picked up a spare one in training fields.
