TOPIC | pulsating adverts
OK - maybe not the right forum for this discussion. But we have to have that ad box in the lower left side of every page in FR.

Has anybody else noticed this new technique where the ad enlarges and then shrinks. Usually it's a clothing ad which has 2 or 3 small pictures of items of clothing and it will enlarge and then shrink one of these items in turn.

Is it just me - or does this make anyone else nauseous?

It reminds me of the movement of an internal organ that's pulsating. I find I actively have to avoid looking at it or it makes me nauseous. If it was just an individual ad I would block it, but the technique seems to be turning up in quite a few different ads now and it's really horrible.

I'm not a squeamish person and I don't complain about body horror or plague primal eyes on dragons. It's just that pulsating movement like a heart beating or lungs inflating that makes me ill looking at it.

I think I know what kind of thing you're talking about and while I don't believe I have this same issue, there are a few totally average things that just get me. Veins freak me out something fierce. I have a hard time looking at the underside of my own wrist LOL. I'm also super squeamish about something else I can't talk about on this site (not, like, inappropriate at all, just something you can't really discuss) that is also totally normal.

Generally nothing really actually truly bothers me, body horror and all, but I've been disturbed by "strange" stuff like that, yeah. I also occasionally will want to pass out from blood but it's like... hyper specific? I don't actually know what triggers a blackout from it and it's not a fear. It just happens sometimes??? LOL I want to say nosebleeds is one of them but now that I get them somewhat frequently (thanks dry air) it hasn't made me black out.

I'll make a nice signature eventually :(
if it makes you feel sick you should download an adblocker. I have an adblocker turned on because I often get webcomic ads just bordering on inappropriate and I don't want to see those :v

I've been getting these kinds of ads as well. I wouldn't say that they make me nauseous, but I really dislike ads with any sort of animation or movement in them, as they're a lot more visually distracting/disorienting than regular static ads. If they're bothering you to that degree, I would definitely recommend installing an adblocker!

A light blue Fae dragon lying down surrounded by pink flower petals. She is wearing a pink daisy cabbie, and holds a pink rose in her mouth.
I haven't noticed, but seconding getting an adblocker if they're affecting you.

This sounds like it could be reported in the Advertising Report Thread. If I'm understanding correctly, these ads might break the rules of ads that "Expand out of the Skyscraper area to the left or bottom banner without a player choosing to hover over the ad to trigger this action" and/or "Autoplay video."

!! signature under construction !!
It doesn't have any adverse effects on me but I just plain find it very annoying... and I make a habit of adding whatever is being advertised to my Do Not Buy Ever blacklist :P

If it really makes you nauseous and it dampens your experience, consider using ublock origin. It's not worth getting sick over.

Sounds indeed like an ad that breaks the site rules and should be reported.

I have uBlock but the FR is whitelisted, still, like right now, it has blocked some ads here.
I usually see the webcomic and some webstore ads (and crapton of casino ads, which I separately blocked) and they function normally.

Hi @HaloJones! I'm sorry to hear you've had this experience!
