Due to their bug-kin nature, they are more or less awkward within normal dragon society, especially due to food and building habits. It is uncertain how or why the Mothwing originated, as there are no documents of their society even within their own libraries. The best guesses of many scholars is that they are a divergent evolution of Miths, or a unique and somehow viable interbreeding of mith and dragon.

This strange and intriguing new lineage line came to be when two very special dragons, Alioetheus and Hoara, made their first nest together.
From Alioetheus, Naomi's Glitch Queen blood intermingled with the Shade from both Hoara, and himself.
The Shade then spread from her, creating Shadetouched vessels- ahem, I mean, the children themselves.
Children that hold plenty of value, for more reasons other than the Shade within them. After all, it turns out they are not completely driven by the Shade, but rather, their ideals are similar to their father's ideals... while still having plenty of ideals that are their own.

Gaolitchshade descendants, unlike Shadetouched dragons, are an integral part of the Shade, and its hivemind.
As they grow, they seem to exhibit more and more of their Shade-like abilities. The Glitch Queen's blood also exhibits itself more with age, likely due to the Shade's corruption on the body causing... Irregularities, to put it lightly. Their mission?

There's some more lore that explains a lot more things that that, but it's much more in-depth and takes up a lot of space so go take a look at the forum if you're interested in Gaolitchshades.
Questions about the subspecies can be directed at either myself or @Cryoluxa, as we co-own the species.
And suddenly, I can see everything... Lost in the air, flying and fluttering...

Their skin is rough like the soil of the plains itself and these dragons are able to bury their massive bodies into the sand for stalking or hiding, some say they can even “swim” on it (which is true but just a few were able to see this and survive). When you see the tip of their spines coming out it’s too late. Bigger dragons can even catch flying beasts by coming out of dunes like sharks on the sea. They’re so connected to the soil and sand that they can read the vibrations on the earth and know if someone is coming, if there are tunnels beneath them or if there are items buried, just by touching the ground (what makes them great stalkers and scavengers).

It was said that long ago, deep in the recesses of the Fortress of Ends and far from prying eyes, the ice god was experimenting. The dead could be frozen away indefinitely - preserved and catalogued - but what if they could be revived? The Plaguebringer took notice of his experimentation, alerted by a young dragon who had explored the ice caves too deeply. She was repulsed by the notion of reanimating the dead - it simply went against the natural order of things. She sent messengers - a pack of strong, swift mirrors - to order him to stop. The Icewarden refused her demands and returned her messengers, but they had been frozen and revived, their proud red eyes replaced by blank whiteness. With them, he sent a small army of tundras he had resurrected from the ice - perhaps as a show of force, or perhaps he simply wanted to show off his new project. Enraged, the Plaguebringer cast the undead into the Wyrmwound. If the Icewarden sent unnatural forces against her, she would respond in kind - relying on nature, not magic, to produce her warriors. When the dragons emerged, they were neither mirror nor tundra - lithe, powerful hunters with slick coats and powerful fangs, ready to fight to serve their goddess. As this new army amassed at his borders, the Icewarden withdrew back into his Fortress, agreeing to let the dead stay dead and to let nature take its course.

They are known to exist in all flights, but originated with a Wind Mirror desiring to be a fire flight dragon. Cursed by Oblivion for dreaming rediculous dreams (Or ridiculous in Oblivion's eyes, anyway), they have been thrown inot the Wasteland, where they are cursed to wander. They cannot die, but also cannot leave the Wasteland. Most go into hiding, some become savages, and some accept their new home and make the most of it. Very, very few accept it. Luckily for them, there is one clan who dedicates it's time to helping PlagueWanderers, founded by the very first Wanderer.
