Even though Tamagotchis were popular in the late 90's, they still were pretty damn popular in the early-mid 2000's. I had numerous of them growing up.

We still use that in class. It's amazing.
(But it often doesn't work because they're who-knows-how-many decades old and our school is too poor to afford anything else. We also still use a diaprojector.)

Millennium Force debuted as the world's first giga-coaster, and riding it for the first time was epic. Definitely the best part of 2000. Cedar Point was at the top of their game. Funny story- I fell asleep on New Year's Eve in 1999. I didn't get to see the new millennium, something that only happens every 1000 years. I was bitterly disappointed.
