Every individual from the same brood spends the same long years underground as nymphs. They then emerge together, create offspring, and die, all in the span of a few weeks. With their offspring made, the cycle restarts. There are many known species of periodical cicadas across Sornieth. Each of them has their own life cycle, most of them ranging around a decade long. Dual emergences are rare events where two different species of periodical cicadas emerge in the same time frame, and can be rarer if they appear in the same area. Luckily for the entomologists, there is one in the Viridian Labyrinth this late May! Two periodical cicada species, the Northern Glass Cicada and Behemoth Cicada, are having a dual emergence in Gladeveins this Greenskeeper Gathering. These particular broods sync up only every 221 years! Bring your researcher's note, earplugs, and raincoats. Let's gather around to watch the double amount of cicadas swarming. Hope I am okay to comment on here, but I am soooo happy to see my cicada art used for the graphics! (nymph cicada/adult black cicada) !!
