All this time I thought Fae females' necks were just from their body to their head in the official art... but I put a rogue mask on one of mine and noticed it curls around awkwardly behind the head too??? It bothers me so much.

It bothers everyone, I think. Also, did you notice how male faes elbow on their foremost arm is drawn behind their backmost leg? Looks so awkward. I guess their entire lower body is toward the front and the upper body is toward the back.

No, the arm is in front. You can tell by the shading. The arm is a lighter brown than the leg -- the leg is cast in shadow, as it's behind. The line of the arm and the leg meet up in a bad way that makes it all blend together there.
However, because of the way the wings curl, you could argue that you should be getting a peek of the back wing in that window between the forearm and the body.

I was just looking at that noodly neck yesterday because it also positions the larger neck/head fins in an awkward angle to the smaller front head fins. I tried to imagine straightening out that neck to see the proportions of the derg, it would look so awkward ><.
To fix the male arm, they just need to draw a little more of it in that light color over the leg so you can actually see the elbow.
