AAAAAAAAAAALL RIGHT, here it is, folks! Today, June 4th, is a Lore Whining Day! Since this update is kicking off a couple new things, there's A LOT to cover compared to usual, so bear with me! Let's jump right in with a new feature:
Whining Spotlight
Yep, you read that right, we're gonna have a spotlight! A fairly casual one, but still. Writing can take a lot of energy and effort at times and it's always nice to have that effort be recognized, so starting tomorrow, the day after a LWD will spotlight one of the participants! This can be pulled from the thread AND/OR the Discord server. If you report in that you finished three bios, or you fought tooth and nail for just half of one, or you did a bunch of writing sprints in a row, or you just spend a lot of time cheering folks on... Well, any of these might get you into the spotlight! It's less a focus on the writing itself and more a focus on the fact that hey, you're a pretty cool person for keeping at it!
The choice will be made by the will of the cosmos - i.e. whatever I'm vibing with and maybe a coin flip if I'm vibing too much - and will have a higher chance for folks who have yet to be picked. The spotlight section will include the user's avatar and a small quote or comment, with some potential tweaks depending on the specifics. It'll also be displayed on the front page, right in the main post.

The old pink banner was... An Aesthetic I guess but EEEEEEE now we have one that looks cosy and nice! And actually somewhat matches a writing theme!!! We're, like, an actual Official™-looking thread now and it's great.With the new banner comes some matching buttons! The old pink button'll still stick around for those that still want to use it, but if not, well now we have more! These are intended for signatures and user profiles, though of course you can use 'em wherever. The 100x100 ones have 98x98 versions as well
And we also have achievements, because who doesn't like achievements? Not much to say about these, y'all know what achievements are. B) There are more on the front page, and more will be added over time since these are actually really fun to make, but for now I'll drop this one here because RELEVANT:

The Discord
Last but certainly not least, it's the Discord!!! A shiny new baby server just for LWDs! As mentioned in the previous update, the server is entirely optional, and participants are still absolutely welcome and encouraged to continue posting here in the thread. Channel-wise, we have general chats and more writing-oriented ones, and of course we gotta have everyone's favorite, #dragon-share. There's even a channel for selling dragons with lore and advertising your own lore and writing-related services! And if anyone's concerned about pings, the "everyone" ping will be used very sparingly, if at all. With everyone already being pinged here on the thread each LWD, it's a bit redundant to ping in the server as well.
Things are fairly basic for now, but I intend to do more searching to hopefully get a decent bot to handle various commands and things like pronoun role assignment. There's also plenty of room to grow if folks end up needing more channels! Also feel free to suggest emoji.
Please read the rules when you join! There's a verification step for getting access to the rest of the server. Additionally, while the rules are intentionally pretty light at present since I want to keep things casual and can't imagine the server getting far out of hand, I will clarify and crack down on disruptions and poor behavior if necessary. Don't make me do that, y'all, I will whine and it won't be about fun lore. :(
