Just three eggs down the line, another started rocking rhythmically, as if the hatchling inside had just realized it was time to hatch and was determined to make its way out. The two party planners turned their attention to the insistent egg, expecting a hatchling to tumble out, but instead another egg took up the dance. It rocked and bounced so fervently that it rolled out of the little patch of glow mushrooms it had been nestled into and onto its side.
It shuddered one last time and cracked. The hatchling popped its head out, eyes wide as it took in the festivities surrounding it. It scuttled out of the shell, finding the hat on the ground and gripping it tightly for comfort as its head swiveled around.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” the small blue hatchling yelled at the escapee, and as he did so a large crack split down the front of the still rocking egg. A wing pushed out, widening the gap, and the hatchling inside shouldered its way out of its shell. The daisy cabbie caught on its horns and came with it, though it dangled unceremoniously down one side of the child’s face.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” the loud hatchling immediately echoed, throwing his arms in the air. Mimic threw more confetti in the direction of the two new hatchlings, neither of which seemed to care to focus on the two or their antics.
