@Kavryn I don't know, there are a lot of beauties here. X.x I have a couple favorites so far, I'll play with scries some more before the auction and pick the one that feels most special to me. This most recent kid reminds me of home, so she's a contender.

And I also wanted to point out: I had preplanned the hat order ahead of time, I haven't been matching them to the hatchlings. Yet if you check out my hatchling list, most of them match pretty perfectly. I guess hats are good luck?

It was the only shadow egg of the bunch and hadn’t budged at all during the commotion surrounding it. “What’s wrong with this one?” The little blue hatchling stepped towards the egg and gave it a nudge. There was no response, much to his displeasure. Mimic stretched himself tall to peer across the way at the egg, licking his lips hungrily. “Hang on, let me see if anything’s in here before you eat it.” The smaller nocturne grabbed the egg and put his head to it to listen. He waited a moment, then frowned. As he was about to open his mouth to speak, confirming to the other that they had stolen a dud egg, tiny peeps from inside the shell silenced him. Fine hairline cracks spread from the points he was touching the egg. It split, and a small guardian hatchling tumbled out. “About time! You’re late!” the older hatchling chided, picking up the baby’s hat and returning it to its head. “Happy birthday, you were just born!” he added matter-of-factly. He shuffled and shoved the newborns back through the narrow crawlspace he and Mimic had entered through. The two older hatchlings followed behind the last of the batch to make sure there were no stragglers. When they arrived back at the entrance to their hideout, they were surprised to see a green fae greeting their party guests. Welcome to the world!” the fae chirped at the newborns. The smaller hatchling clenched his tiny fists in frustration and marched up to the fae. “What are you doing here? Who told you?” “Hello Phausis. A better question is where did you and that Jawlocker of yours get all these eggs?” Phausis was caught off guard, and stuttered out his response, “Uh… we found them.” He steeled his gaze against the fae, locking eyes with him defiantly. The fae shrugged and patted one of the newborns on the head as it ambled past. “I’m surprised the Jawlocker didn’t eat them before you could have your fun.” Phausis glanced back at Mimic, who looked very annoyed. “I wouldn’t let him do that,” he lied. “The hatchlings are welcome to stay with the clan as long as they need to, but you two had better find someone to take care of them or do it yourself.
