Mephyst stared down at her hatchlings in horror. All her hopes, all her fears, it was impossible not to be in awe of the little dragon in her claws. Tainted blood beat through his veins, blood that gave him awesome power along with crippling weakness. Silver and garlic burned, but not as much as the sun. A tear slipped down Mephyst's cheek. All the spells laid on the nest to prevent her curse from passing on failed. Banish had a taste for blood, one that would shape his life and influence his every decision. Banish was patient with a lot of things. Waiting for the perfect time to leave his mother's court, waiting for his order at the local bakery or butcher. But one thing he was not patient with were other dragons. Something about other dragons irked him just enough that he didn't seem to understand why they didn't just do what he expected them to. They constantly asked questions, many of which pertained to his curse. Oh, the curse. The thing that gave him a taste for other dragons' blood like some kind of vampire. He wrinkled his nose at the very thought of the curse. A curse passed to him from his mother. Many thought he held her responsible for the troublesome curse being passed to him and hated her for it, to which he reminded every dragon quite harshly that she had done everything she could to keep the curse away from her children. It wasn't like she wanted the curse, either. And whatever influenced the curse wasn't simple magic, either. It was something that was either somehow etched into their very genetics now or the magic was too complex to be blocked by the spells his mother laid on each of her nests to prevent the curse from passing down. Honestly, Banish feared having hatchlings of his own. What if the hatchlings inherited his curse? And what if said hatchlings blamed him for it? His mate, Tyl, tried her best to reassure him, that even if the curse was passed along to the hatchlings, they wouldn't hate him. He had no control over what happened, so they had no reason to. But it still worried him. Unlike his mother, he had no way of blocking the curse from potentially being passed down. All of his hatchlings very possibly had a 100% chance of getting the curse, so long as he could actually pass it on. He hoped to the deities that he couldn't. Thankfully, Banish at least knew a way to combat the blood curse. It was quite easy to substitute dragon's blood with the blood of literally any animal. Sure, that didn't entirely quench the terrible thirst, but at least it staved it off enough to be bearable on most days. And he could get his fill of dragon blood when he needed it. It came as quite a surprise to many, Banish included, that the Forgotten Kingdom, such a peaceful place, actually allowed the study of blood magic. It seemed so... Against what the kingdom stood for. Now, then again, it did seem like it was forbidden in an unspoken way. Like a "hey, it's allowed, but don't abuse it" type way. It was strange, but Banish used it to his advantage. He found out that by figuring out a way to use blood magic to give dragons what they wanted, Banish could not only easily request the blood from his clients, but also ask for a little more blood for "personal experimentation," as he would put it, even though in reality he'd preserve it and save it for when his cursed thirst became too much to handle. Now, he did use some of it for experimentation, both out of curiosity and trying out new spells to offer in his forbidden trade, but a lot of it was saved for later consumption. That was another reason he didn't want the curse passed onto his children. He had found a way to combat it by being lucky to have found a place that let him study blood magic. But many other clans abhorred the idea, and he knew that if any of his hatchlings inherited the curse, they would have a much more difficult life. He didn't want his hatchlings to have a difficult life. He wanted them to thrive. But he knew that wouldn't be possible if his curse was passed on. And not only that, but, oh, how the sun burned his scales. Garlic and silver hurt too, but the sun was worse. At least the garlic and silver could be taken as an allergy or bad reaction, but the sun was what gave it all away. He could only travel by night or under the covers of the trees. It made him eternally grateful that he had found a home in the Shadow Flight, but again, his hatchlings may not be so lucky. Especially if one found themselves in the Light Flight. Oh, he could only imagine the torture of someone with his curse living in eternal light. It would be painful. He couldn't bring himself to have hatchlings for these reasons alone. He'd love to have hatchlings, especially with Tyl just because of how sweet and accepting she was of him. But he couldn't. He didn't want his hatchlings to be born into a world that could struggle to accept them. Tyl was persistent, though, urging him to at least try, telling him to research the spells his mother laid on her nests. He did, but he had high doubts they would work. Besides, they didn't work for his mother on his best. He and his siblings were living proof of that fact. But Tyl told him there was no harm in trying. They both wanted hatchlings, after all. And maybe Banish could put stronger spells on his nests. Tyl reassured him that no matter what happened, at least she would still love him, for she knew that if the curse was passed down, it was no his fault. He had no control over it. Her love for him would never waver, even if every single one of his hatchlings hated him. Maybe he could give his hatchlings a chance at a normal life. Just maybe.

Commonly referred to as "whelps" or "nestlings" by their father when he speaks to them, this is a list of Banish's offspring and their relationship with him. Any hatchling(s) who don't have much of a relationship with him have nothing written beneath their name. This will change if the hatchling(s) decide to have some sort of relationship with their father, whether it is good or bad. Akilis My firstborn... Running off so young before I could teach you to control your curse. All under the belief I had given it to you on purpose. I would call you an ungrateful whelp but I never wanted you to have this curse. I hope to someday make amends and explain everything to you. At least it appears you have things all figured out... I was worried you wouldn't find a way to sate your needs. Albeit, it is a bit of a... Messy business you've gotten yourself into... Zazriel Where have you gone, young nestling? Why have you left the Palace? What did Akilis tell you that made you flee? I never wanted to give her the curse, and cannot give it to you either. Your mother tells me not to worry... Tells me that you'll be fine on your own. But I can't help but worry about you. I guess I can just be glad you never inherited this curse of mine... Decided on an outfit but have the other saved as a sort of alternate outfit.

Hatchling sales info:
All hatchlings will come with at least 1000 words of lore, a bio coded similarly to their parents', and at least one piece of art. Each hatchling will have a coin flip done to determine if Banish's curse is passed down. Heads means the curse was passed on, tails means the curse was not.

Nests will only be on certain dates, typically holidays and dates we seem to be interesting. All nests will be in Light unless otherwise specified.

Hatchlings will be 1000g or 1mt each due to each getting unique bios. Pinglists will be made for each nest and deleted after that nest has been pinged for. Every nest will have a name they will be referred to. The general pinglist pings for ALL nests once they hatch and will not be deleted.

Hatchlings will be added to Banish's hatchling list. A small snippet of lore will be added and can be added onto/changed upon user request (either through PM or in the lore thread when it gets made), a way to allow hatchlings to be more involved with him lore wise without having to constantly add onto his main lore. Add on to lore is not required, and you can also request your hatchling to be removed from the list if you so please.
