Banish stared down at his nestlings with a mixture of love and dread. His first nest bore two eggs, one cursed, the other not. His attempt at a protection spell was only half effective, and that's not to say that it wasn't just coincidence half his nest was cursed. Tyl urged him to keep the cursed one, saying he could help train her to control her powers. He also decided to let the other stay, at least until he knew for certain she was safe from the curse. He named the cursed one "Akilis", and the one without the curse Tyl named "Zazriel".
But maybe he shouldn't have listened to Tyl. They were words he never thought he'd say until now. His eldest became quiet once she learned of the severity of the curse and just what it entailed. Banish promised to help and protect her. But he was instead met with backlash from his own child. Blaming him for everything, Akilis ran off. Not far, Banish knew. He had seen her resting in a cave. He could only hope that one day, Akilis will forgive him. In secret, though, Akilis talked with her younger nestmate, Zazriel, telling her to fly away as far as her wings could carry her. "Our father is evil," Akilis whispered to Zazriel one night on a stony cliff. "He cursed me. And it's only a matter of time before he does the same to you." Akilis spread her wing, hovering it over Zazriel's back. "Fly. Fly as far as you can. Protect yourself. Make a new name for yourself. Whatever. Just get away from here." Akilis gently nudged her sibling towards the edge of the cliff, urging her to fly. And Zazriel did. She flew. She flew for as long as her wings could take her. Zazriel didn't know the full story of this curse. She and Akilis rarely saw their father, as he was always busy dealing with things only dragons of his power could do. And the curse was a sore subject for their father anyway, especially after Akilis ran off. Questions were a big no. Maybe Zazriel should've stayed and tried one more time to ask, but it was too late. She was already so far from the Forgotten Kingdom, their was no hope of getting back in a reasonable amount of time, especially with the fact she had no food. Maybe one day she'd go back, but for now... She had to run. "Come one, come all! The greatest show on Earth is about to begin, the Night Circus has returned…" the Ringmaster’s word echoed through Zazriel's ears. Her claws dug into the Earth beneath her paws. Her escape from her fathers curse had led her to this forsaken place. Like something was calling to her. Just what that was, she was still unsure of. She would certainly find out what though. Determination coursed through her veins as she stepped forward, entering the Circus grounds. Creatures of all sizes and powers floated about the eerie grounds. She could almost taste their excitement as they rushed towards the Big Top. But, not her. Something pulled her towards an amethyst tent. Walking with utmost caution, she couldn’t let her guard down. It wasn’t long before a voice called out, "Hey, you might want to beware that tent. Unless you are looking for something you may not what to find." A male dragon smiled. Rows of pearly white teeth glistened causing chills to run down Zazriel's spine. Her mind raced as she blinked, unmoving like a deer caught in a spotlight. Everything in her screamed not to trust the Drake. Smiling back, she tried to keep her composure as her heart thumped in her chest. "I think I’ll take my chances. Someone running from a curse can’t find much worse." She grabbed the flap covering the doorway as she heard him speak once more. "Suit yourself, but remember this, you are in the presence of multiple Barghest. Start counting your blessings, Little Brave One." Ignoring the male, she pushed her way into the tent. Lavender hit her nostrils as Zazriel stares straight into a pair of yellow eyes. "Sit down young one, I’ve been awaiting your arrival…" Additional lore to come •Meeting the Seer, Tarot and her visions. What that includes - -Learning the curse that plagues her family is not what she thinks it is. -Discovering her own powers and Tarot's tutoring -Tarot formally introduces Heratic, the male from earlier. -Heratic tells her, her blood smells like that of someone in their clan, outside of the Circus. -Zazriel tries to save the Circus goers from their fates. •Zazriel meets her distant relatives -One relative in particular takes to bring her Mentor and helping her accept the curse. -Hades helps her understand powers that Tarot couldn’t. -An unlikely source tries to talk Zazriel to confronting her father and his family about the curse as she can pass it down to her children. •Zazriel becomes Bound to a Barghest. -The half fallen angel gains the Barghest curse. -Meets Atropos, the Void and harnesses her new found “curse" as well as a loophole that won’t pass her fathers curse to her children. First Outfit I do have a few planned, but this is my favorite. It appeals to her fallen angel nature. I left her wings a bit open for skins. There’s a few I think would look good. One gives a stained glass look to her wings which also leads to more lore possibilities.
