___________________ Jhalthan is the third child of Imlyn, chronicle-keeper, and Dawnweave, a sweet but reclusive dragon whose history is little known. His grandparents also include Amasandra, diplomat of Waterdeep, and Kami, an Ineffable creature part angel and part demon.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

When a creature is descended from something ineffable, it is expected to be just that. Ineffable. And yet Jhalthan, the child of a chronicler and a sweet mysterious drake, is an odd type of ineffable. Most things that cannot be explained are such due to how they appear, or perhaps how they sound. Something from the base senses is beyond understanding, at least to those who live as most creatures do. Jhalthan is none of these things. He is clearly a dark toned drake in the form of a spiral dragon. He holds powers typical of an arcaneflight dragon. He ties himself in knots as spirals often do, and never seems to understand what the word silence truly means as he chatters away.

No, what makes this particular dragon ineffable isn't, in fact, how he appears. Everything seems like a regular dragon. It is what can't be seen, can't be heard, that makes him truly ineffable. See, his mind works quite differently from others. It clicks odd things into place, making sense where there is none and making no sense in a world packed to the brim with it. A flower that normally grows to be pink must not be pink, but instead blue with gilded petals. The sky must be clear on the fourth day of each flight festival. Crystal can melt and be poured like a metal. In his mind, black is white, and white is black, and every single shade of grey is, in fact, a rainbow of possibility.

Perhaps it is his heritage. Perhaps the one who watches from beyond reality, peering into the world from a rift in time and space as her progeny grows gave this descendant a glimpse of her own world. Perhaps the stubbornness of a Beast drives him to be as true to his own mind as an akirbeak is to hoarding eggs. Maybe it is the odd magic tied to the Avariels that leads him to seek things beyond the traditional Eleven in Sornieth. Or perhaps it is his own ancestors, a pair who defied all odds and created such ineffable beings in the first place, that give him this power. Maybe it's a combination of it all. Perhaps it is something else entirely.

One thing is certain, however. And that is the fact that the brief span of time where Raphael's roses all turned blue while Samhain was away served as the perfect herald to Jhalthan. Well, that and the fact he clearly stated from the corner that all roses should, in fact, be as blue as a piece of amber. Which is, of course, only blue to him.

It may just take a miracle, or an act of the Almighty Himself (or Herself depending on perspective), to truly predict the unpredictable yin ineffable known as Jhalthan.

Descendant of Ignis
I am a Descendant of Ignis! Who is Ignis? Ignis is the dragon on site with the ID #666. That's it. That's all. Demonic lore is common with this line, but for most of them, it's just goofy ghost stories they tell to scare hatchlings. There's no way that simply being the six hundred sixty-sixth dragon registered in Sornieth's great ledgers would confer demonic powers and energies onto a dragon and her descendants. Right? Right?!
