Xebec and Xylan had always been inseparable. Xenia had been the independent one, and it had been expected that she would leave the clan first, her siblings just hadn't expected it to happen so soon. They were still hatchlings when she had left, and as they grew, Xebec wondered if they had even really got to know her.

He still wondered about it, even when they were fully grown, still living in their birth clan. He wondered if it was silly to think about her so much after all this time, and if she still remembered and wondered about them too.

"Well there's only one way to find out," Xylan had said one day, finally getting completely exasperated by his wistful gazes.

"Hm?"

"Go and visit her, you dope."

"What of she doesn't remember us?"

"We're her hatch-siblings. She will. If she doesn't, there's something wrong with her. And we'll fix it. Obviously."

And so they'd travelled to the Viridian Labyrinth (together, of course), but on their journey, the Aethers decended from the sky. The siblings didn't know that at the time, and watched the pink streaks falling from the sky with wonder.

When Xebec awoke the next morning, he screamed. His brother was... different. He could still tell it was Xylan, even if the pale creamy yellow of his fur was banded with green, and spiky dark, green-tinged mandibles protruded from his face.

Xebec's scream woke Xylan, and the annoyed expression on his face was definitely still his brother's. His eyes immediately widened as he looked at Xebec, his irritation giving way to surprise.

"What happened to you?"

As he stood, Xebec saw his body was long and slender. He was an entirely different kind of dragon that Xebec had never seen before.

"What happened to me? What happened to you?" Xebec shot back but looked down at himself to find his big plush mane gone and his legs short and stumpy.

Oh. And there were an extra pair. Xebec looked back at his brother to see him doing a similar check of his own body and found that he had six legs too.

"Well, uh, we might be a bit more difficult to recognise now."

By the time they reached the Meristema Clan, the brothers had grown accustomed to their new bodies, enjoying their newfound flexibility. And as soon as they found their sister, she recognised them, despite their vastly different appearances.

She immediately ran to nuzzle them. "Xy? Bec?! Is that really you?"

It turned out that Xenia's son, Frolic, had undergone a similar change. Apparently they were Aethers now, and a programme was being set up in this clan to help affected dragons adjust to their changes.

That could be useful, but Aether or not, finally being here and seeing his sister, Xebec knew that he didn't want to leave.

Xylan gave him a knowing look. "We stuck here now then?"

"Not if you don't want to be."

"You know I'll be stuck anywhere with you, Bec. Someone's gotta keep your head outta the clouds."

Day 1: Xebec finally finishes his designs for the event participation awards, and hurries to catch up to his siblings. Once reunited, the three of them rush to meet their father at his booth. He's delighted to see them, and once all of the initial hugs and excitement are out of the way, he tells them stories just like he did when they were little.

Day 3: The triplets meet Sunset and give her their birthday wishes. In the evening, they reunite with Cordelia and Macchiato to watch the stars.

Day 4: Bec helps to get Xenia ready for the dress-up contest.

Day 5: Bec, Xenia, Cordi and Macchi head to the feast and make sure they can secure enough seats for their whole gang to eat together. When Xylan arrives, he introduces them to Fy and Mio, two young imperials that are going to join their branch of the family.
