[Genesis Era]
~~~
Prince Guaporouter I was the first hatchling born to Queen Silkrouter and King Guapostrider. As the first-born male of the two, he inherited both parts of his name from his parents; signifying the strength of their union. Prince Guapostrider was born in the Highland Scrub of the Shifting Expanse alongside two younger siblings: Prince Guapospool, and Prince Guaposilver. Although he was not the favored child at first, he dedicated himself to his responsibilities as the eldest Prince. Consequently, he was never very close with his brothers; having given up much of his childhood to the duties of the clan. When his brother, Prince Guapospool left, he did not feel sad but hollow instead. He had wished he had been closer with him, and now his chance was gone. Prince Guaporouter tried to use this feeling to motivate him to grow closer with Prince Guaposilver, but his younger brother resisted his attempts. Consequently, the hatchling often found himself alone. Over the years, his father mentored him in the forgotten arts of warfare and diplomacy. This mentorship shaped him into a dragon of maturity long before he reached adulthood. These lessons gave him an opportunity to grow close with his father, whom he began to trust more than anything. As the oldest, and the most responsible, Prince Guaporouter easily became the first in line for the Router Throne. The King and Queen trusted him the most to succeed them in leading the clan and its imperial ambitions. Swiftly becoming a scholar of military strategy, Prince Guaporouter knew that he could be an incredible asset to his family. With his stalwart companion, a Glazed Sentry named Princepot, the young dragon could overcome any obstacle in his path. He dreamed of the day he would lead his people against the tyrant Queen Magmicvulcan, a nefarious dragon his mother told him many stories about. The Queen had told him that Queen Magmicvulcan killed his grandmother, and that his uncle had stayed behind in the homelands to fight against her. Prince Guaporouter began to see it as his destiny to destroy her, placing much more pressure on himself to become the Prince his parents wanted him to be. There were times that he doubted himself, but he would not let himself give into these doubts. Prince Guapostrider full-heartedly believed that he can and would be absolutely perfect. |
[Expansionist Era]
~~~
After Queen Silkrouter purchased a fae hatchling in her expansion of the clan, House Router arranged for Prince Guaporouter to be wed to Princess Lapis. Their union would signify a strengthening in the Router dynasty; and plans were made to allow Prince Guaporouter to ascend to the throne once he sired children. Prince Guaporouter easily fell deeply in-love with Princess Lapis, and the two became a political power couple with aspirations for greatness. They were even given the blessing of Princess Lapis's parents, resulting in their relationship becoming quite unbreakable. The two would often chart the stars together, fantasizing about their future lives together. Prince Guaporouter soon began to understand that his success was no-longer optional; wanting to give Princess Lapis a life of wealth and luxury. Consequently, this led him to devote himself to becoming the clan's next King. Following the clan's requisition near The Source of the Shifting Expanse, he began serving as an active duty paladin. The move allowed him to become familiar with members of the clan, and allowed him to gain more experience in the field. When he was not serving with the clan's army, he was entirely focused on planning his wedding to Princess Lapis. With his ascension to the throne imminent, the King and Queen gifted Prince Guaporouter a blessed Storm Seeker; which he aptly named Stalwart Bolt. This familiar would keep him safe and guide him towards the right path in becoming the next King. Starwart Bolt often told him of its visions of the future-- a kingdom embroiled in conflict, a series of disasters that would threaten to ruin the clan. The stress of becoming the next King and preventing such a future from ever coming to pass slowly wore down the young dragon. He began to worry about not living up to the family's expectations for him... Unfortunately, a hitch in Prince Guaporouter's royal ambitions would soon come to be. Consort Starcatcher had convinced Queen Silkrouter to give his children a chance to prove themselves as worthy heirs. As a result, the Queen decided not to allow Prince Guaporouter and Princess Lapis to immediately ascend the throne once they were wed and had sired children. This sudden betrayal angered the two of them, resenting the Queen for stifling their political ambitions. |
The new additions to House Router, Prince Starrouter I and Prince Starfern I were soon hatched. King Guaposilver quickly returned to the young Prince with an answer, as he had spoken with Queen Silkrouter since then. He confirmed that the Queen was not going to change the line of succession, allowing Prince Guaporouter to remain as the next in line for the throne to the Routic Imperium. Although he was suspicious of his two new half-brothers, he was quite pleased to hear that there would not be a hitch in his plans after all. He thanked his father for standing up for him, and convincing his mother to allow him to remain as the primary heir. The young Prince gained a new appreciation for his father, and promised to stay by his side-- no matter how tough things got. King Guapostrider simply smiled at him in response. After hearing this news, Prince Guaporouter met with Princess Lapis and Chief Warmaster Mosspelt once more. He assured them that their false-flag plan was not going to be needed, and that he was immensely grateful to have the two of them on his side; expressing that he trusted the two of them more than anything else in the world. With their wedding just a few weeks away, the young Prince was immensely ecstatic. He invited Chief Warmaster Mosspelt to the wedding, and began preparing the laws he intended on passing once he became King. Politically, he felt that the Imperium had not been militarized enough, and that it had strayed away from its original goal of fighting off the Vulcan Empire by focusing too much on the advancement of technology-- something that did not directly benefit the citizens as technology was not extremely accessible. He argued that there were a couple of foundational issues with the Imperium. Nothing that couldn't be fixed, as he felt the Imperium was still relatively young enough to change without much issue. At dawn of the morning before the wedding of Prince Guaporouter and Princess Lapis, Prince Guaposilver revealed to the Routic Imperium that he had sired children with Paladin Ashenidol-- and that once they hatched the two of them shall be wed. The surprise was only made more shocking once the wayward Prince expressed his intention to ascend the Router Throne; with the wedding and hatchlings fulfilling all the requirements he needed to take it. Prince Guaporouter and Princess Lapis were not pleased with this development at all. Not only had their wedding been upstaged by Prince Guaposilver's intention to ascend the throne-- but he was planning to take the very throne Prince Guaporouter had been training for nearly his entire life. |

[Opposition Era]
~~~
The beginning of the next era for the Routic Imperium was a whirlwind for Prince Guaporouter. Having just been wed to Princess Lapis, with children on the way, and his mother and brothers suddenly gone missing... there was a lot to focus on. The harsh words of his brother, now King Guaposilver the Agronomist, echoed throughout his mind. They were truly enemies now, set to travel down opposing paths. He did not want it to get in the way of what he had to do. But it was. Becoming his brother's enemy was never something he wanted to do. Princess Lapis could sense this conflict stirring within his soul, and did her best to comfort him. She was his only source of happiness in these dark times-- his anxieties about the visions his familiar had told him of consuming his waking moments. The Prince was holding himself accountable for all of these terrible outcomes; pressuring himself to take action. Following the resignation of Chief Warmaster Mosspelt (who did not get along with the new King and Queen), the Prince began meeting with her and Princess Lapis once again to discuss political strategies. The three of them were frustrated with what had transpired. They wanted to be prepared to remove the current imperial rulership in the event of an inevitable disaster transpiring. It was Prince Guaporouter who came up with the idea of organizing a political resistance known as the Birthright Faction of the Routic Imperium. He believed with the three of them leading this faction, they could gather a group of loyalists who could fight alongside them in a military seizure of the throne. The Prince and Princess would use their status as members of the royal family to act as protection over the group and its clandestine activities. In the middle of all of this, the Prince began to take care of his aging father-- the former King Guapostrider. After he had been ousted, the King had planned to settle down with Cherry and live a more relaxed life. But with the disappearance of Queen Silkrouter, and Cherry becoming the Imperium's second Psionic Mage, things had been anything but relaxing. The old King's body was starting to fail him as a result of the massive amounts of stress, and the Prince took it upon himself to take care of his father in these troubling times. |
Prince Guaposilver soon started to feel hopeless, not sure what he could do to turn things around after all that had happened. It appeared that while King Guaposilver was well-intentioned, he was enabling the Queen to make wide-sweeping power grabs; threatening to solidify the two of them as permanent regents. Devoting himself to the Birthright Faction, the Prince was able to recruit the help of Prince Blackrose I, former Psionic Mage Canyondust, Detective Serpentkiss, Paladin Zephyrkiss, Plaguedreamer Lovely, and Plaguedreamer Glaciermist. With this acquisition, the ranks of the Birthright Faction was brought up to a staggering nine members-- all pledging their support and the support of their allies and/or subordinates. Prince Blackrose and Canyondust were tasked with choosing one of the possible locations for the attack and preparing entrance and exit strategies. Paladin Zephyrkiss and Plaguedreamer Lovely were also given a task of their own: collecting the necessary resources/weaponry for the attack. And finally, Detective Serpentkiss and Plaguedreamer Glaciermist were assigned the job of gathering more loyalists to join the fight in the actual attack. Putting together such a rag-tag team of experts gave Prince Guaporouter hope. Princess Lapis could see the light returning to his eyes, and hoped that everything would turn out okay. With Mosspelt serving as Prince Guaporouter's godmother, he and Princess Lapis put Princes Guapoazure and Guapofoam into her care. Worried about what would happen to them once the fighting started, they asked her to keep their children safe and away from the front-lines. Although Mosspelt wanted to fight along-side them, they convinced her that it was best if she distanced herself from the Birthright Faction; if anything happened to them, she would still be around to finish what they had started. Mosspelt understood the importance of her role. They trusted her the most with being able to take over once they were arrested-- or worse, killed. Mosspelt promised to keep their kids safe, and devise a possible contingency plan, should it be needed. With the weeks flying by, the Birthright Faction grew closer and closer to striking. |
Knowing that his sick father was laying alone in the dungeon, slowly dying, Prince Guaporouter knew he had to act. He contacted all of the members of the Birthright faction-- moving up the date of the strike so that they may be able to liberate his father. With his father's life hanging in the balance, Prince Guaporouter could not fail. If he failed... it would all be over.
The Birthright Faction waited until after Chief Warmaster Zephyrbone temporarily left the clan to travel with the army; tasked with overseeing the beginning of the El Guapo Expeditions. Princess Lapis argued that this would be the best time to strike-- as Mosspelt's second litter will have hatched and it would leave the Imperium's main castle wide open. Prince Guaporouter agreed with this plan, and coordinated with the other members of the Birthright Faction to begin the attack the day after Chief Warmaster Zephyrbone was set to leave. Prince Blackrose's plan was to have the leading members of the attack stationed within the castle. From there, when they gave the signal, the leading members could take out key figures of the local army by taking them by surprise. Once that was done, they could open the castle doors and allow the rebel soldiers to charge straight into the castle. They would be able to overtake it and take the King (which shouldn't be too hard given his recent wounds) and Queen into their custody once this was accomplished. By the end of the day, Prince Guaporouter hoped he and his wife would be inaugurated as the Third Union; King and Queen ruling side by side. Once the day had come, the Birthright Faction put their plan of attack into action. In the early hours of the morning, with all of the leading members in place, Prince Guaporouter gave the signal to begin the attack. Suddenly, Paladins from the royal guard leapt out of the shadows (as if they were anticipating it) and struck each of the leading members before they had a chance to cause real damage. The entire castle erupted into utter chaos as the coup for the throne had officially begun. The whole area had become a battlefield. Prince Guaporouter fought the Paladins and broke away from them, quickly becoming separated from Princess Lapis. His immediate goal was trying to open the castle doors in-order to allow the Birthright Faction's armed forces to storm inside. He was tackled by Queen Ashenidol at the last second--dragged away from the castle door lever, broken and bloodied. |
